“Lovely place, incredibly clean and great attention to detail.”
Reviewed 19 April 2012

We spent 2 nights at this B&B, taking over the 3 rooms with a group of friends. The rooms were immaculate, each one very well furnished, and extremely clean, as were the bathrooms. The downstairs breakfast room was being re-painted so we had breakfast upstairs.
Attention to detail was amazing, with trail mix, candy bars etc. available for the trail, a wide selection of DVDs. John and Pam were welcoming and knowledgeable. The B&B was well situated near the entrance to Yosemite. I would definitely recommend this place rather than a bigger hotel (we ate both nights at the Tenaya lodge which was good but we were glad to get back to our B&B). Two things I would mention was that although our breakfast was good, we were disappointed not to have the full buffet spread that we had thought was on offer (this may have been due to the refurbishment below) and I think that when you take all 3 rooms as a group, some sort of commercial gesture would have been appreciated, as the room prices are not negligeable.

We spent two nights at Big Creek Inn, and the place exceeded our already high expectations. The spacious Mariposa room has the comforts we would love to have in our own home--such as separate rooms for toilet and shower, a nice comfortable reading chair and ottoman with articulating Tiffany-style reading lamp, gas fireplace/woodstove heater, luxurious king bed, soft carpet, beautiful meadow view from private balcony, and peaceful quiet. Our hosts Pamela and John were warm and friendly, helpful with ideas to plan our day, and yet very respectful of our privacy. Breakfast was great each day and I only wish we could have stayed longer.

People should recognize that Fish Camp, while it is just outside Yosemite Park, is at the south entrance and still more than 25 miles from the picturesque Yosemite Valley. We thought the location was perfect; we enjoyed hiking in the Mariposa sequoia grove just a couple miles into the park, and also the scenic 45-minute drive to-and-from the valley. It would be inconvenient to be without your own car, though. The location is more convenient for visitors coming from the South.

Room Tip: If you can get it, the Mariposa room is the best of the three,

We spent 3 nights at this cozy B&B in Fish Camp, just a few miles from one of the entrances to Yosemite. Our hosts were so welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. The room was beautiful, with our own fireplace to warm us. They had an amazing selection of DVD's to watch in the privacy of our room. Early morning coffee or tea available just outside our room and 8 am breakfast with something for everyone!
Our hosts helped us to select a hike each day and shared dining tips as well. They really went above and beyond. Pam even lent me her gloves! Felt magical to wake up to snow outside our window and the view from the balcony is lovely. A great experience.

In January, my wife and I were honeymooning in California and we spent two wonderful nights at Big Creek Inn. We arrived late in a bit of a snow storm and John (one of the innkeepers) was there with a friendly greeting. He showed us to the cozy and spotlessly clean Mariposa room, gave us a brief explanation of where everything was and then left us to enjoy the Inn's great DVD collection. We slept well in the comfy bed, warmed by the gas fireplace, and awoke to fresh coffee outside our door the next morning at the time we requested. After coffee, we we were served a beautiful breakfast in the dining room and given very useful information about hiking/sightseeing in Yosemite (not only that, Pamela and John lent us some rain gear and snow chains for our car!). After a great day of hiking, we ate dinner just 2 minutes down the road at Tenaya Lodge. The meal at Tenaya was fine but we sure were glad to be staying in the much more romantic and private confines of Big Creek Inn. The next morning we had another great breakfast prepared by Pamela and then headed on our way.

We absolutely recommend Big Creek Inn to anyone heading to Yosemite.

We stayed here for 2 nights during Feb. 2012. The day of arrival we were lucky that the innkeeper, Pamela, called to notify us that we could check-in early that day. Awesome! So we got there bright and early at 9ish, and she opened our room.

We stayed in the Mariposa room, which is a corner room so there are 2 large windows and plenty of natural light. The balcony overlooks the creek. The room was a nice size, spotless, and the bathroom updated and sparkling. There are two sinks (one in the room with the tub/shower and one in the room with the water closet).

The rest of the experience-- the innkeepers, the surrounding area, etc.--was also great. Pamela cooked us some delicious breakfasts, making sure to ask about any special diets. She gave us advice on where to go since we hadn't a clue, she called the park to check for road closures, and she suggested that we borrow her hiking poles. The inn is 2 miles from the Park entrance and just a few hundred yards to the Tenaya Lodge which has some good restaurants. The owners have a cute dog, which they made sure to keep around them and who stayed downstairs.

We will definitely be back.

Overall, there are many excellent reasons to stay here:
1. Great value for your money
2. Friendliness of owners
3. Spotlessly clean
4. Close to park entrance...great location with a creek view.

Room Tip: Mariposa room is on the corner so has 2 large windows and plenty of natural light.

We stayed at Big Creek last weekend. We hoped to see Yosemite blanketed in snow, but there was no snow. The best decision was staying slightly outside the park at Big Creek. Our group was 2 couples and we took the Mariposa and Madera rooms. Rooms are clean and very well appointed. The guest lodging is upstairs with a common are that has a tall table and four chairs, micowave, small fridge, some light snacks and a huge movie collection for the in room DVD players. We had balconies overlooking the creek with a nightly view of the moon and stars that was incredible. John and Pam are wonderful host and have vast knowledge of the park. This B & B is small so book early.

Room Tip: Mariposa has a king and is slightly larger, but all rooms are really nice.
