First time staying at this apartment resort near Bukit Tinggi. Went for a 3 day 2 night stay. Figured it would be less crowded compared to the more famous and popular resorts like Colmar Tropicale (Berjaya Hills) and Genting Highlands during the school holiday season.

The quality of the Selesa Resort is average. The apartment unit that I got (2 room apartment) was quite run down, and looked like it needed a major refurbishment. My room did have a nice view of the hills. However, the place was not dirty, but just old looking. Overall, the environment was pleasant, weather was sunny in the daytime, and nice and cool during the evenings and early mornings.

Did not try out their coffee house or pool, so I can't comment.

Plus point of this place - very near to Colmar Tropicale and Genting Highlands. Probably just a short 20 minute ride by car.

They provide basic toiletries (soap and shampoo in a packet), and towels. But if you want extra towels and/or pillows, you would have to pay extra.

Had a 2D1N stay here with 4 other friends on 31st. We were lucky that we managed to get the last studio with 2 bedrooms , 4 single beds.

The view was very beautiful which the one we stayed in was facing the highways and mountains.

There was a list on what they have inside the apartment, but most of them weren't actually there. Have to buy or request for own pans or cooking utensils. Washing the plates is a difficulty for us, they didn't have any washing detergent. We have to use the soap they gave us in the bathroom.

Bedrooms are average for a rate at RM270 and air cons were functioning very well. Have to bring own shampoos and shower gel because their soap and shampoo are not really that soapy and stuffs.

Overall, it was fine. Just didn't thought we need to bring and buy so many things.

Having stayed many, many places in Malaysia over a period spanning 15 years, I had read some reviews on the Selesa before deciding to book and stay for 1 night, but did not think the reviews could be correct, or anywhere in Malaysia could be as bad as some of the reviews stated.

How wrong was I!

Upon arriving at the resort, I had my concerns straight away as we drove in when I noticed the exterior walls of the apartment blocks looked worn and were very dirty.

It should be made clear that this is not a hotel, it is a resort (housing area), where locals live, and where apartments are rented out for holidaymakers, so you should be aware that a number of the areas are not perhaps as clean as you would expect to find at a hotel, as they are supposed to be cleaned by the owners, but many aren't!

My concerns grew when I saw that the reception of the resort was very outdated and the gardens around the resort were seemingly unkempt.

Regardless we proceeded to pick up the key for our apartment and drove to the parking area for the block we were staying in.

In the car park there was what appeared to be a dumped car, with all the tyres flat and rusting. Again, I grew more concerned.

Eventually, after some searching we found our apartment, on the lower ground floor. Upon entry, my worries were confirmed. The room had very little decoration or furniture, what there was was very outdated, and the bedrooms in my opinion resembled more a prison cell, with low level bed, with just sheets and old blankets on the beds (no top cover), and with very old pillows that were yellow in colour.

On inspecting the bathroom, the shower head had dark brown water running from it and overall the whole apartment was very dirty.

All of the above was enough to make me turn right round, leave the apartment and head back to reception, and ask for my money back.

I was expecting a problem when requesting our money back, but this was the highlight of our fleeting visit to the Selesa. Almost without argument and complaint, they refunded our money, (minus RM15 for administration) in cash, and we were able to leave and return to Kuala Lumpur, and return to our usual hotel, the Easting in Petaling Jaya, which I can fully recommend as very good quality and excellent value for money.

I have not commented on the Sleep Quality, Swimming Pool or Restaurant for the Selesa, as we obviously did not get to use any of these facilities.

I would like to close by saying that I find it a shame that the resort is not in a better condition, as the location looks lovely, and it could be so much better than it is.

The double-storey apartment is surprisingly big. Being a self-contained/self-service, it is great place for those with large families. Definitely a good place to stay to enjoy the superb food down at stretch of restaurants in the town centre. Foreign visitors would be disappointed that there's no wi-fi or any convenient transportation available. Better to come with locals as they can bring you around.

...checked in this hill resort which is about a 45 minutes drive from Subang jaya where i live and 25 minutes roughly from KL city, came across an advertisement in the local STAR newspaper regarding a new year's eve celebration on 31st December held there with A LIVE BAND,COWBOY THEME PARTY AND BBQ DINNER...

...Since we had no real new year plans to usher in 2012,hubby and i decided to check in this place which is situated just before Bukit tinggi and Genting Highlands,we already had a reservation at Genting for 1st January 2012.

..the best part is this hilly retreat perched on a small slope and facing the highway is easily accessible and plus no long, curvy lengthy drives to tackle.we arrived there by 5.45pm to check in and there was already a small crowd there, reckoned all were there with last minute plans like us.

...anyhow,we had a room overlooking the highway,it was recently refurbished and pretty comfortable...had all the necessities,TV etc...the view was superb overlooking the hills as well, somehow the air was crisp, fresh and cool all throughout the evening and night. There was even a thin mist at night and can get foggy on rainy days.

...the new year party was average, the BBQ dinner was commendable, tho we would have preffered more variety and the band was quite good with the entertainment,we even had a transvestite show which was amusing and entertaining.

....overall,i enjoyed the whole package as it was an average affair, the staff are also quite freindly and ready to help...

...the next monring breakfast was also an average fair, anyhow if any traveller is looking for a budget deal with not much fuss and frillls Selesa Hill Resort is the place...its a great place for stopovers before continuing your trip to Kuantan etc.

...though pretty affordable and cheap it has every necessity, easily accessible for lazing away for a short stay or weekend, heard theres trekking available to a waterfall, will try to make it the next time tho....to check it out.

...budget travellers can give this place a try,for an average of RM120 its worth the deal...

Room Tip: ...just ask the front desk...and most of the time they are willng to upgrade u to a better room...
