Owner description: Trips departing from both Fort Bragg, CA and Willits, CA on the historic Redwood Route of Mendocino County. The Pudding Creek Express departs from Fort Bragg, on which your train will travel along the Pudding Creek Estuary to Glen Blair Junction on this short and scenic 1-hour, 7-mile roundtrip. You will be traveling over some of the first tracks laid down by the California Western Railroad in 1885. Once the train stops it will immediately return to Fort Bragg. The Northspur Flyer departs from Willits, on which your train will climb the Eastern slope of the Coastal Mountain Range and cut through it at Tunnel #2 (the Summit) before descending down into the redwood-thick Noyo River Canyon. This 4-hour, 40-mile roundtrip allows you to explore the wondrous forest where the world’s tallest trees take you back in time. Once you arrive at Northspur, the midpoint of the railroad, you will disembark for an opportunity to walk around, purchase lunch, and breathe the pristine mountain air.

My grand son and I took the 4 hour ride on the Skunk Train from Fort Bragg to the half way stop at north star.. The trip is fun for all ages and travels through a lot of great scenery. The train has plenty of inside seats with an open top car where you can stand out and watch the great views even closer. There is a snack car with plenty of food and there is non alcoholic as well as alcohol served on board. When you reach the half way point between Fort Bragg and Willits the train stops so they can turn the engine around there is a great little BBQ with many different kinds of food offered. While on the train they talk about the many interesting things that you see while on the trip.
They have a great little gift shop at the train station.

It was a beautiful day that we did the trip and that helped to make it enjoyable. It's a good way to see the fuana of this particular area. The train itself was comfortable enough for a relatively short trip- just a few hours.

This is not an exciting, Disney-type ride, but a pleasant journey back in time. I loved the old timey outfits worn by the Skunk Train staff, and I enjoyed the leisurely trip through the redwoods. The train leaves Ft. Bragg at 10:00, stops in Northspur for 45 minutes for lunch, and then returns to Ft. Bragg at 2:00. You can purchase snacks on the train, bring a picnic, and/or buy drinks and food at Northspur. Grilled hamburgers, pulled pork, hot dogs, and similar items are available. Portions are large, and the food looked good. There is an open car on the train, so you can stand and look up at the giant trees as the train rolls along. Bring a jacket!

We went on the train from Fort Bragg. The weather was beautiful,it wasn't that crowded and we enjoyed it. The train stopped and we had good polish sausages for lunch. The ride was a little long for me we left at 10:00 and didn't get back until 2:30 and the diesel fuel smell got to me a few times, because we stayed outside most of the time but it was beautiful, but you can get a little specks of sort on you from the diesel. I recommend it.

Was checking out the things to Fort Bragg and Trip Advisor mentioned the Skunk Train.

The decision was taken and I am just so glad we made it just in time.

The steam engine train leaves at 10 AM and takes about 4-5 hours. It's a round trip through the Redwoods along the Noyo river to Northspur. With an hour long break there you return back the same way.

On the way there the conductor tells you the story of the train, the lumberjacks, the forests and there is a country singer singing folk songs.

There is a refreshment car to buy snacks and drinks on the way.

This is a must do if you love trains.
