Basic room with killer views and decent expanded continental breakfast. However, all the rooms are cleaned using a deodorizer spray, that smelled so strong that it actually disturbed my sleep, and i am not one who is sensitive to odors at all! I complained to managers, and on the second day, returned to my room only to find that the cleaning staff had"freshened" my room, and sprayed the deodorizer again. In addition, the other party sharing my room with a separate bed, noted that the top sheet on their bed was dirty, when we checked in. For $100-200 daily rate, no matter what the view, it wasn't worth it. I will not go back, unless i see a response on Trip Advisor indicating they will address these issues immediately.

Room Tip: Dont book unless you see the above problems resolved. West facing rooms have best view.

I received no notification of these problems.

We most certainly adjust rates and make changes if there are problems with the linens in the rooms. If you read other responses you'll see that we do give people adjustments if there are things we are responsible for that they don't like. I encourage this guest to contact me even at this time.

You can always request a no-spray in advance, or on the day of your arrival. Our air-freshener is rather pungent. The housekeeping sheets are marked "no spray" at the beginning of the day.

I do not think that this rating accurately reflects our property. If you have a problem, let us know before you post on TripAdvisor. If we cannot come to a satisfactory outcome, I understand any rating that results.

Our room had 2 queens with a lovely view of the river. It was clean room with all the basic amenities, even organic coffee! The breakfast was awesome- oatmeal, waffles, hard-boiled eggs, etc. a very good value!

Loved our stay here....

Our room was a suite overlooking the harbor, where you could see the fishing boats coming and going.

We loved our room. We were more than happy with all amenities. The little kitchen was perfect and had more than needed with a small dining area. The bathroom was great with a cute soaking tub/shower combo. The bed was one of the best we have slept on as far as comfort. The deck was probably the best ever, so large with the most comfortable loungers and chairs. The view from the room and deck was sooo nice. There is a nice garden type area in the center common area that offers comfortable seating and blocked of wind! Beware of their metal chairs as it was very warm one day and the black paint from one of the chairs ended up on my new sweatshirt and shorts. That area was very nice just be sure if warm, which isn't often, to check out the chair first. There were a few like that. Also breakfast is included, basic and nothing to special but a nice way to start the day.

There is a path that leads down to the harbor or beach which was very convenient. We liked that we were able to leave the room and walk, not drive.

This was our first stay here but can highly recommend as you will not be disappointed in the location and room with all the amenities.

We most definitely plan to return due to the location, well kept property, beautiful rooms with the great decks and views!

We took our friends to visit Mendocino village and the coastal redwood over Labor Day weekend. We booked Harbor Lite Lodge last minute for 2 nights and are very pleased with the room. The IKEA kitchenette is equipped with pots and pan, mugs and glasses, flatwares, an induction stove, coffee brewer, toaster oven, a good size fridge. The bath is roomy and the balcony offers a nice view of the fishing boats in and out of the harbor.

The only minor complaint is that our room is close to route 1/bridge but with the window shut, we can hardly hear a thing. There is a tower fan with air ionizer in the room. Wi-fi and HD tv were great.

The room also comes with breakfast (oatmeal, cereal, waffle, toasted breads, danish, fruits...) and is close to Fort Bragg main hub. You will find Safeway, CVS within walking distance.

Overall I think this facility is an updated cabin style in a motel setting. Our friends were impressed with the weekend get-away and we are happy that we are able to find a room here!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the harbor side, if you have the option.

Although this is an older property, the housekeeping staff kept my room spotless. The fixtures actually shone. The maintenance spent his days keeping up the plants in the court yard area and sweeping the parking lot (I kid you not). The breakfast is ordinary but convenient. We enjoyed walking down to the harbor and to the ocean.

The staff struggles with the computer system. I know this because the wi fi did not reach my room in the back so I spent some time each day in the lobby reading my email and daily paper (online subscription). Multiple members of our group had reservation errors although everything was sorted out eventually.

Room Tip: rooms toward the back and away from ote 1 are quieter.

Remember from my last owner response, Wifi upgrade complete on August 2nd. Now 4 separate radios (were just 2.5 previously) with high-gain directional antenna. Tested and working from each of the previously problematic areas.

We had stayed at the Harbor Lite Lodge before and really liked it. But this last trip had us cancelling our second night. It just wasn't the same.

First, things got off on the wrong foot when we showed up and the price quoted to us over the phone was wrong. We needed to pay more each night. Since we were there and had a good experience before, we decided to stay.

But things continued to go downhill. Our harbor view was essentially a trailer park below, but that really didn't matter. What did matter was the incessant creaking of the floor above. It was like a herd of elephants were on safari. Plus the average door apparently needed to be slammed, not gently closed.

It was then when you started to notice the little stuff, like the light switch to the bathroom is on the outside, but not within reach from the inside. So a late-night bathroom trip meant illuminating the entire room. The bathroom door also didn't close well, so that was noisy. But probably the biggest bathroom complaint was there wasn't a hair dryer in the room. It didn't bother me, but my wife was highly annoyed as she didn't pack one because I told her all motels have them nowadays.

Also, like others have mentioned, the Wi-Fi connections stink. Although there were a few throughout the motel area, none managed to connect for more than a minute or two. I have a Nexus 7 and it never has problems locking in. But it did here.

So the next morning we just left and went to the Surf Motel and Gardens where we had a nice experience.

One thing that will doom families is that the motel has a policy of not booking families with kids on the top floor. In theory, it is a good policy as you don't want a bunch of kids jumping up and down above you. But since the floors moan and creak with just adults walking around, even quiet families are stuck in a noisy room if the above floor is booked.

It's sad to say, but there are better choices in town.

Room Tip: Pick an upstairs room as the floors are noisy. If you have kids, you will be booked in a downstairs...

We should have a fix on the wifi within a week (by 7-29-2013). We have one radio serving almost 70% of the total rooms and it's over capacity since people now bring multiple devices, rather than a single laptop (which has a stronger radio than a cell phone or tablet). We appreciate the changing use of technology and wireless devices.

If any guest feels like their rate is incorrect, they should let the office know and we'll explain or remedy the situation very quickly. In general, our rates do not change on a nightly basis so there must have been an error we would be happy to correct. Unfortunately, our children downstairs policy isn't perfect for everyone.

The other concerns are valid and unfortunately, not correctable. The light switches have always been on the outside of the bathroom door and yes, our building does creek... it's 40 years old this year and all wood construction.

The Surf Motel and Gardens is a good property if you're worried about building noise as they are a one story facility in a U shape, which is also easier to provide Wifi, although they do not have private balconies and views of Noyo Harbor. Our property definitely doesn't suit everybody, but we wish to accommodate everybody as best we can if they bring their concerns to our attention before departure.

this is an older motel with rooms facing a parking lot but a good value in a pricey area. We were here to attend the Mendocino music festival and did not want to pay Mendocino prices. We requested a room facing Noyo, harbour with a great view of all the fishing boats coming and going. It is fairly quiet but is close to a bridge and some traffic. Very close to harbor restaurants and many places to eat in Ft. Bragg. We shopped at a nearby Safeway and sat on the balcony with wine and cheese and enjoyed the view. Beds were comfortable and the room was clean. There is a modified breakfast with sweet rolls, hot oatmeal, fruit, cereal, etc. With a very good rate I recommend this place.
