It was very pleasant to appreciate the gardens. Just beautiful. Workers were very helpful and friendly. I didn't take advantage of all the amenities on the grounds like the picnic/barbeque area and the fish cleaning area. I am also interested in looking into the units with a kitchen. I definitely would stay here again. A very relaxing environment and very handy shopping center next door.

This was my first visit to this motel but when I return to Fort Bragg I will stay here again. The rooms were comfortable and quite affordable and the service very friendly and helpful. I was here at in the month of May and the gardens were spectacular! The grounds are large, with every imaginable kind of flower blooming. Noyo Harbor, The Skunk Train and a beautiful botanical garden are nearby and it is also just a short drive into Mendocino.

Room Tip: All the rooms are quiet and have a view of the gardens.

I booked two rooms so family and I could attend a wedding. The rooms were clean and seemingly newly appointed, the staff was helpful and friendly, and the gardens were breathtaking. There is a dog run, and a place to clean fish and rinse wetsuits. Best of all, even thought it was opening weekend of abalone season, the prices were very reasonable.

We travel down to Ft.Bragg A LOT from Trinidad in Humboldt County. We always stay at the Surf Motel for too many reasons. To name a few: We have two medium to large sized dogs. SM offers cozy pet friendly rooms and an spacious dog run that stays clean all year round. SM is a short walk to Noyo Harbor, adjacent to the Boatyard shopping center where Harvest Market, a fully stocked Natural Foods supermarket, yummy Pizza Factory, even an auto parts store, laundromat, and a thrift store are located. SM sits on the south end of Ft.Bragg, just minutes from downtown, and the Skunk Train depot. It is conveniently centered between breathtaking Mackerichher State Park to the north and all amazing parks to the south--Jughandle, Pt.Cabrillo, Russian Gulch, Headlands, Van Damm, not to mention the town of Mendocino! The grounds of SM are beautifully landscaped, and often at night we go to sleep to the sounds of the bell buoy out at sea and the foghorn. Most of all, the staff is courteous, accommodating, and always very friendly. Ft.Bragg has become our home away from home and the Surf Motel is like family.

Room Tip: Pet friendly rooms with two queen size beds cost slightly more, but they offer a bath tub, beautiful...

I have stayed at this motel many times over the years and have found it to be very comfortable, simple, clean, and quiet. The owner lives on site and he and his staff are always friendly and accommodating to those staying there. The rooms have always been amazingly quiet at night. To say the gardens are beautiful is an understatement. The owner takes well deserved pride in them. They can be seen from inside the rooms as well as during walks around the property. They form an attractive screen that provides visual privacy for the rooms on opposite sides of the circular driveway.

I will certainly being staying there again.

Room Tip: Rooms farther from the street are quieter, although there is little traffic on the street at night.

This motel has clean rooms, beautiful gardens, free breakfast (coffee and pastries), dog runs, BBQ, picnic table. We called mid-day and booked a room, no problem. Easy to find. We arrived late and across the street was a convenient McDonalds. Great value.

Room Tip: All one level. Can park/back in right in front of your room and unload.
