“Great views for an awesome getaway!”
Reviewed 4 March 2014

We got an upstairs room with a fireplace and jacuzzi tub. The views were spectacular! This motel is on the coast, only seperated by the walk/bike path and is the last motel on the stretch main stretch of road. We definitely plan on going back.
The fireplace kept the room warm. Decor is a bit dated. Room and tub were clean.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good, but the more expensive rooms on the 2nd floor will give you more privacy.

Room was clean, however, very dated decor and there was mold in bathroom behind door. First floor has jogging trail so people can see in the room. Balconies are not private and window fogs up every time you take a shower. Remote for TV was missing batteries and WIFI was intermittent. Paid $139 per night which was too much for what you get. I will say the ocean views were spectacular and hotel was cheapest compared to other hotels with similar views. Personally I won't stay here again. Would rather pay $20 more per night for more modern feel and more privacy.

Wonderful views, easy access to the walking path, very clean rooms and great customer service at the front desk. They are all so very friendly and gave us some great tips on food and fun. This is such a great place to stay. My favorite!!!!! I also stayed a month ago and brought my disabled parents. Handicap rooms are so nice. I had a wheel chair and walker. Both my parents were able to get on the paved walking path with no problems at all. Thank you to all the staff!!!!! You guys and gals were excellent!!
We did have to fight some nasty ants on both trips. That was the only problem we had. Maids did offer to spay but I declined due to the smell of the spray. Just kept the left-overs and snacks in my car. This would NOT stop me from returning.

Clean room, enjoyed the hot tub and fireplace. Old carpet dates the room, unfortunately. Great views. Left the window open and fell asleep to the sound of the surf. Also enjoyed a sunset walk on the beach.

We did not have a reservation but stopped in to inquire about a room. We were given three options at different price points. We chose the room which suited our needs and then negotiated an excellent price. The room was the largest room we have ever had in a motel/hotel. It was clean and had a refrigerator & coffee maker. There was a picture window looking out over the dunes and the Pacific Ocean. The only negative was that since it had just rained heavily for several days, there were some little ants in the room. The manager assured us that they exterminate monthly and more often if necessary. We did not view them as a problem.

Wonderful ocean/river view aside, this is a very nice property that can be quite affordable. Location of Fort Bragg is off the beaten path. Nice area for a quiet staycation. This is not the Ritz but a nicely upgraded and maintained motelish lodging choice. Weather can be windy or hot so plan accordingly.

We have returned to the Ocean View Lodge many times and always enjoy our stay. The rooms are spacious, clean and all have spectacular views. Our last visit mid-January we saw whales from our window two afternoons plus stunning sunsets. And, you can walk to town or north to the state park on a path right outside the room.

Room Tip: We've never had a room we didn't thoroughly enjoy.
