“Beautiful view but a little smelly”

Coyote Hills Regional Park

I decided to run some trails in this park during my visit to Fremont CA. The park and views were absolutely beautiful. You can see the San Francisco Bay and I think a little bit of San Francisco. The only downside is that it was quite smelly from the bay. It was also very windy when I was there so make sure to check the weather before you go. Its only $5 to park for the day, well worth it for the amount of park available to explore. The park is also very pet friendly!

I love bicycling the loop around here ... it has a lot. Freshwater Marshes and saltwater areas for different types of birds; scenic hills; Indian ruins; a great butterfly garden; some ruins from when it was a Nike missile site; and a nice little museum. The hills give it a different feel from, say, Alviso or Palo Alto Baylands. It's the gem of Fremont.

Coyote Hills Regional Park is a beautiful walk along the water. It can be windy at times though
other times not. It is sometimes windy at the start of the hike but the wind drops to a lower
level when you turn the corner at top of hill. Take cue on wind from local area weather.
It is very scenic and there is a paved walk that takes about an hour and can also be cycled.
We have done this with young kids in a stroller, on bicycles and with friends. You can also
diverge from the main path and take a different walk right out on the water also. It is a
lovely area. You must pay for parking, $5 I think as it is a regional park.
If you want to picnic there is a picnic area by the museum (work a quick look, it is free).
Unfortunately in the summer, the main picnic area can be overrun by huge groups having loud
parties. There are some other picnic areas however closer to the entrance and first dirt
parking lot.

easy walks along the base, or hiking and biking through the hills, too windy on most days but a great sanctuary on hot days. great place to watch the sunset. on a clear day you can view as far as the city.

This is one of the nature parks by the San Francisco bay, kid friendly place with marshes filled with water fowl, a nature center, bike trails, picnic sites and small hills anyone can hike across. Try to visit Don Edwards park on the south side of Dumbarton bridge for more beautiful views of the bay.
