“Service Makes the Difference”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 January 2011

This is a great place to stay. It is extremely clean, but the best part is the service. The front desk staff are cheerful, friendly, and attentive, and so are the housekeepers, breakast bar staff, maintenance, and everyone else who works there. They all seem happy to be doing their jobs. The rooms are typical for Springhill Suites--roomy, comfortable, but not upscale. Yet they are well insulated against noise. Highly recommended, central to shopping, business, transportation.

Rooms are immaculate: clean, comfortable, and quiet. I would stay there again.

Stayed one night in a two double bed suite. Room was clean and spacious. Hotel seems newly built. An overall nice property.
Hotel is near Hwy 41 which gives you great north or south access from this part of town. It's also near the campus of Fresno State. There is plenty of shopping and restaurants in the River Park area just a short drive from the hotel.
Though you cannot score a hotel low for its clientele, I shouldn't be able to hear them as much as I did. Those walking around in the room above and those letting their doors slam in the hallway until after 1am. Cheap construction? The tv remote did not work either.

AWESOME! Best hotel in the city (probably), in a nicer area too! Which is exceptionally hard to find in Fresno :)

Stayed for a fastpitch softball tournament at Buchanan Sports Complex. Location was convenient. It was very hot while we were there and there were no issues associated with that. No problems during our stay.

Stayed here during a recent trip to Kings Canyon National Park. Arrived at the property around 10PM only to find a sign on the front desk saying something like "attending to a guest issue - back in a FEW minutes." So, we wound up standing there for 15-20 minutes - with a line building behind us, before the desk clerk returned. There were a bunch of kids trying to buy food from the little store setup they have there - even they gave up and went back to their rooms. For a place that big and busy, I can't believe they only have ONE person on-duty even at that hour! Ridiculous. Anyhow, the check-in then went fine and quick. Room was very nice and very clean. The free breakfast setup was pretty much the same as all the other hotels that offer that amenity - same basic stuff (cereal, fruit, yogurt, waffle maker, etc.) and crowded with people trying to get their "money's worth".

I stayed at this place with my 2 young children and my dad. Dont get me wrong, this hotel is new, modern, clean and up to date. the rooms are nice and the bed comfy. My issue is with the service. The gal that checked us in was quite snobbish. She was a bit nicer later in our stay. We checked in around 6pm so it was not a busy time for them, but she did nothing to extend a warm welcome or offer suggestions. ( the Marriott chain of hotels is my favorite) She barley pointed to where we needed to go and sent us on our way. I have gotten more attentive service at a Fairfield Inn which is Marriott's budget line. I found this disappointing to say the least. Next was that the pool towels were never stocked. We swam in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening and never was there a pool towel on the cart. ( my kids love to swim so we spent alot of time there). You have to remember to ask at the front desk for towels before going to the pool, other wise you are treated like a second class citizen for allowing your kids to walk back to thier room a little drippy.(Easy fix ... Stock the cart with pool towels.) My last issue is with the Breakfast... While it is nice that they provide one and it not half bad, Cutting it off at 930 is in my opinion too early. i realize that this hotel mostly caters to business type people but Fresno is a perfect place to acess Yosemite from so i think they need to be more considerate of leisure travelers as well. I'll admit we went down to breakfast later than we had planned but hey we were tired, just spent 4 days camping in a tent. Anyway we got in the dining area about 915. ( we were not the only ones that were still getting breakfast by the way) Well let me tell you something, you better make it quick because at 930 AM on the dot the attendant removes the waffles batter even if other are still waiting their turn, she closes and locks with a padlock the juice station and yogert cooler. i found this EXTREMLY RUDE!. i mean it was really was not the girls fault, she was just doing her job, but i think managment needs to re-think thier whole breakfast routine. All in all, the hotel is well locted and clean and well maintained, If your familar with Fresno at all, you will appreciate that it is located near what i like to call NEW FRESNO. Fresno is my hometown and I left 15 years ago before New fresno was built. Like i said earlier, Marriotts are my favorite brand of hotels, and I have never felt more un-welcome than I did at the Springhill Suites at any other property under this brand. Even my 9 year old mentioned that the people we not as nice as other other places we have stayed. Next time i think we will stick to the Residence Inn or Town Place Suites. (by they way we have stayed at both of those and they are very comfy and the staff was much nicer)
