We stayed a week at the RV Resort over the 4th of July Week. The price for our family of 5 was $67.00 a night. I thought that was way over priced! They charged extra fees for the kids. I think $45.00 - $50.00 would have been more what it was worth. The schedule of events thru the holiday were fantastic! They had a few ice cream socials, bingo games, glow in the dark golf, fireworks, crafts for the kids, a bike parade thru the park in which the kids decorated their bikes with red, white and blue streamers, hot dog lunches. There were small fees on half of the activities, for instance $2.00 for ice cream social. As for the park itself, it was nice, but just okay. The spaces were just average. Not sure why they called the premium sites "premium". Nothing to write home about. The pool was well kept, but older. If you like to golf, the facility was very convienent with golf carts sitting right by the office ready to go. We stayed here as a hub to see Ave of Giants, float the Eel river and do the normal sight seeing around the area. I didn't see a nicer RV park than this one within the area.

Room Tip: Sites further away from HWY 101 were quieter and the sites near the dumpsters stunk bad!

After traveling across the country to see the Redwoods, this is the worse rv park we've stayed in on trip-rundown, dated. Park was less than a 1/3 full probably. Our site #92 is muddy. Paid for a prime site, which has extra table & chairs- which r to dirty to use. Laundry room is the worse we've seen, washer's dirty. We cetainly wouldn't use them. Wifi intermittent, desk had several excuses....Was expecting MUCH better! Road noise bad @ times, right off 101, a lot of truck noise. Golf course looks nice, pool area too. Nonchalant help @ desk. Location is this places saving grace. We had a wk booked, but r leaving after only 3 days. Tea & scones @ Hotel were nice, tho hotel is in need of refurbishing & good cleaning from what we saw.
So long Humboldt. Avenue of Giants is 1/2 a joke too! This area must rely on one time visitors. Fort Bragg area much nicer & accommodating!

We stayed 2 days at Benbow RV Resort in our travel trailer. Benbow has everything...their own golf course right at your front door...level, full hookups...pull-through and back-in spaces...a fenced doggie run...store on grounds....river...you name it...the Lodge restaurant is nearby...just a mile or so from Garberville, in the California Redwoods. A great experience...very quiet and well run...totally first-class maintained...a five-star experience. As nice as it gets! Will definitely return!

This RV park has a lot going for it . . . but it also has some minuses.

It's an older park. When it was built many years ago, the current freeway was not there. Because of the freeway, the park is overall somewhat noisy. The spaces on the back side seemed quieter, but the front spaces are noisy enough that it would not be too pleasant sitting outside in the summertime. We were there in February so it was not an issue for us. The traffic does seem to diminish after around 10 pm.

The spaces are just long enough for a big rig, but the pavement is narrow. With a big rig, you have to position it just right to avoid hitting the hookups with your slide outs. RVs did not have slides when this park was built!

The section on the far side away from the office (the south end?) seems to be newer and a bit nicer with wider spaces. A few of these sites have a slight river view.

The price is unquestionably on the high side. We paid $42 for a prime site in mid winter - the price in summer escalates to $60. Even the smaller back in sites are $47 in summer. They charge $3 per day for pets.

In winter, there are not many facilities open, but looking at their website it appears as if there is a lot more going on in summer. The pool is outdoor, and thus seasonal. There is a clean laundry. The showers were very clean, but I tested the hot water and it was not very hot - it was cool enough I could comfortably hold my hand under it with no additional cold water.

The park itself is very clean and tidy. The interior roads need some patch paving as there are some real rough spots on the west perimeter road.

Other than the freeway noise, the location is very nice. A branch of the Eel River runs right by the park, and there are trees and flowers throughout the park. All sites have picnic tables and small lawns. The prime sites are end sites which have an extra large lawn area and an additional table with chairs.

The dog run is exceptionally nice! It's located right next to the river and is quite large. There is also a great do-it-yourself "dog wash" covered area with warm and cold water.

The office staff was very friendly. There is free wifi that worked fine from our space.

This is not a modern, deluxe facility, but it's a pleasant park in a location that is convenient to seeing some of the redwood empire.

We had passed this place many times and finally decided to stay. We should have made that decision earlier. This is a really great RV park. The park is clean and well maintained, the showers are the best we have seen and the staff is very friendly. If you go, ask for a spot in the back portion of the park. It is quite and the views are good. Spend a few days. The golf course is excellent and there are several super State Parks nearby including Humboldt (with a much better than average interpretive center and really big redwood trees) and Richardson Grove which is on the Eel River and also has redwoods. The RV park is on the Eel River as well with hiking trails.
We took a day trip to Ft. Bragg on the coast but there are other coastal destinations within an hours drive or less.
Do not miss the Benbow Inn restaurant. The food is excellent and service is surprising good and professional. Try the creme bruele. The hotel has an old world charm not easily found in California.
In short, we had a great week.

This place was far from a disappointment. The entire park is very well manicured and cleaned. They do keep kids and pets under control. Which is to be expected. The river behind the park is very suitable for all. And there is enough river to find privacy for you and/or your animals. Or you can travel a short distance to another part of the river. And the doggie restroom area is also very convenient. It is a fenced area with a log, firehydrant etc... for your dogs to feel comfortable, it is lined with layers of pee gravel. They also provide the clean up bags.
But most of all, the greatest thing is the self serve doggy wash area. It is a fenced area with steps up to a large tub basin with a long washing wand. Also has warm water to bathe your dogs with. They love it. Nothing like a warm bath after swimming and playin in the river before you get back into the trailer for rest.
I have to say there was a problem with the staff a few years back. But I haven't seen them since. Its been very pleasant.
Highly recommend this place.
