We were told by The Great Western Motel in the town that they also ran this place, so we thought it should be ok. However, DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! Dirty and insecure room. Smelt of smoke, grim, skunk (animal kind) and grease. It had not been cleaned for years. There were electric cables everywhere. The carpet was so dirty that we kepy our shoes on. There was dirt everywhere you looked. The furniture was out dated, worn and dirty. There were skunk runs along side and under the room which meant that you had to endure the smell. The a/c unit was located next to the bed and sounded like a jack hammer. Worst place we have ever stayed and we have both travelled globally. We actually left before dawn it was that bad.

Room Tip: Simple. Don;t stay here!

We paid 68 dollars for the room that smelled, had really dirty blanket, I even used tissue to open and close bathroom door. Only if you are tired and out of options like we were you should consider staying here.

I recently stayed at the Lone Pine Motel.
Although Garberville was hosting a
music festival and other hotels were
jacking up their prices, I found the rate
at the Lone Pine to be very reasonable.
I had a non smoking room, and I could
not detect the scent of cigarettes. The
room was clean, bed super comfortable.
Had standard coffee machine, microwave, fridge, tv. The proprietor was
kind and accommodating. Would I stay
there again? Yes I would.

- There were three large insects on the ceiling.
- The floors have obviously not been cleaned for years.
- The walls have multiple dark markings and stains and need repainting.
- The beds are hard as a rock.
- The decor hasn't been changed since the 1970's and that includes the giant, chunky phone.
Overall... this is a dump that we were forced to stay at because of the lack of available rooms. Make your reservations ahead of time at a decent hotel.

I was grateful that I was able to find someplace to stay on a weekend when everyplace else seemed to be booked. Now I know why they had rooms left when no one else did.

1. I ended up in a smoking-allowed room. It stunk so badly of smoke I had trouble falling asleep.

2. There is no heater, only an AC.

3. The shower is very short box. I'm 6'2" and had to crouch down to shower.

4. There was no drain plug in the sink.

5. The coffee maker did not work.

6. The wireless password I was given was useless, as the room was not close enough to a router to be able to use it. It worked OK if I wanted to walk over near the office, out in the open.

In short - this place is a roof over your head. That's about all.

Definitely the worst place we've stayed in on a three week trip troughout the US. It was the last room available in pretty much the entire city but in hindsight we would have rather spent the night in our car. The room was filthy and smelled terrible, of smoke and dogs. Burnholes in the carpet and bedsheets! We found hair on the towels.
To make matters worse people were screaming and cursing outside multiple times in the middle of the night and there was no management on site. The wifi password they gave us was incorrect too, by the way, and management nowhere to be found to inquire about that from 7pm until we left - at 7am, as fast as we could, with other guests outside too. All fleading the scene.

We were very pleasantly surprised at the service and quality of the room, especially for the price. Its very convenient and the owner is on site and very hands on with an interest in the constant improvement of his Motel.

Wish we could find this in every town we stop in!
