“The best hotel in the area!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 January 2008

I loved our stay at the Residence Inn Anaheim Resort Area. We arrived at the hotel around 12:30pm and our room was ready. We had a 2 bedroom with a king and bunkbeds. Some reviews said that the bunk beds were small, but we found them to be average size. The full kitchen and 2 bathrooms were wonderful! Target is right across the street so we were able to pick up some snacks and water there. The hotel offers a very nice buffet breakfast. A ton of variety and everything was wonderful. We would hit the buffet early and then grab a snack right before we left for Disneyland. They also have a light dinner M-Th. We took advantage of that 3 of the 4 nights that we were there. Very filling andmore than I had invisioned. The kids enjoyed the pool one afternoon. Even in January, they found it to be comfortable. The hotel staff was very polite and quick to respond to any questions that we had. The hotel is not in "pristine" condition, but it was not unkept or unclean. The only complaint that we had about our whole vacation was the ART transit system. While we were grateful that it was there, it seems that the trams don't quite run on a "schedule". While they always came, they were never very timely. No fault of the hotel!!! In the future, this will be the hotel that we choose for our family.

We've been to this hotel many times. Twice this year.

It's excellent value for the price if you have a family. We like to stay in the two-bedroom suites. Either the two-queen or the kids suite. Both are roomy.

Breakfast is great as usual. And for some reason the hotel gives you a sense of warm and casual friendliness.

For the negatives, the hotel does show its heavy usage. Bathrooms are not as new as we first came when it just opened. The parking is very difficult sometimes. The queen-queen two bedroom suites are a bit noisy because it's close to the road.

In the picture the 29/30 rooms are closest to the road and hence most noisy. So you better off get the rooms on the other wing.

We stayed here the week after Thanksgiving. We usually stay at the Marriott Suites, but decided to give this a try. We were very pleased with our decision! The rooms are very comfortable, clean, and "homey". It was wonderful to have a full kitchen to use the fridge for treats etc. The cleaning staff did a great job! Our personal belongings were treated with repsect, and our room was always clean on our return.

The breakfast each morning is well worth trying! We ate there every morning of our 7 day stay. The kitchen staff was courteous and kept everything stocked and clean. My son loved the biscuits and gravy!

It is close to Disneyland and several nice restaurants are within walking distance!

Make sure to try Bubba Gumps!!

We will DEFINITELY be staying here on our next trip!!

I stayed at this property in October based on previous reviews and under a preferred Marriott Rewards member rate. The hotel is conveniently located in the Anaheim Resort Corridor, and only a few minutes from Disneyland. The seventh floor one-bedroom unit we stayed in was generally clean, however the under sink trash had not been emptied upon our arrival. A quick call to the Front Desk brought prompt correction. Road noise was not too much of an issue, though I would have preferred the pool side of the hotel had it been available. In typical Residence Inn fashion, the room was furnished well and comfortable. The breakfast was well done, and worth getting up early to avoid the throngs of other families. Parking was not a problem as we tried to return early enough in the evening to avoid any issues. Because of the heavy use by families, there were cleanliness issues in the common areas: Trash receptacle near elevator on our level was often overflowing; one elevator had chips strewn about the floor after the evening reception. We enjoyed the fare at the Joe's Crab Shack right across the street from the property. Overall this was a comfortable and convenient location for my family and one we will likely return to.

  • Liked — Comfortable accommodations in a convenient location.
  • Disliked — Common areas could be kept up a bit more.

We stayed at the Residence Inn Garden Grove from October 15th to October 27th and really enjoyed our stay.
At first arrival I was a little underwhelmed as the hotel or room does not "wow you". However, what this hotel lacks in the"wow factor", it makes up in comfort, function and location.
We stayed in the suite with 1 king bed and bunkbeds.
Our bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in and the shower had great water pressure.
The kids loved their bunkbeds and we loved having two bathrooms and three televisions. The kitchen was a full kitchen with all the necessary dishes and pots and pans and the couch was comfortable enough to sit on for a few hours. We loved having the table for four when we ordered in food and I loved the desk where I could write notes for my trip reports and or do my budgeting.
The hotel itself was well kept and the staff was helpful with directions. The breakfast was okay since it was free and there was a pretty good selection although the bread and toast were a little on the hard side. I really enjoyed the make your own waffles and the fact that they provided strawberries and whip cream was wonderful. It definitely gets very busy from about 8:30 and on and can get a little hectic but the staff was very helpful and continued to provide food well up to the closing time.
Attended the "hospitality hour" a few times by chance and it was nice to be able to get a little salad and few munchies. There is a calendar in your room that tells you what the food will be if you are interested.
The pool was a little chilly but the kids liked it and it is a nice size. I think by virtue of how the building faces, it does not get a lot of sun which would be nice in the summer heat but made it a bit chilly in October.
We were a little nervous about staying so far away from Disneyland as we have always stayed closer. However, we found the ART to be very convenient and we liked being close to the Target, Red Robin, The Outback, Joe's Crab Shack, Buca di Beppo and the Pizza Hut Express and Starbucks in the Hyatt next door.
The size of the room was also definitely worth the extra distance to Disneyland.
All and all we really enjoyed our stay at The Residence Inn-Garden Grove and would definitely consider staying here again.

  • Liked — The comfortable beds, the showers, the size of the rooms and the location
  • Disliked — Breakfast area gets a bit hectic

Just got back from a week stay at the Residence Hotel. My family of five adults stayed from Nov. 7th -- Nov. 12th in a one room suite. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Breakfast everyday was a great money saver. They offer eggs, sausage, hashbrowns, waffles, muffins, pastries, bagels, yogurt, cereal, fruit, french toast, and pancakes daily. Go early to breakfast, the later it gets to park opening the more crowded it gets, however they are always refilling the food. They also offer a manager's special Monday thru Thursday, however my family didn't partake. The room was clean and the maid came every day. When we needed more towels they were quick to bring them. They have several washing machines and dryers that came in handy after getting soaked on splash mountain. The pool and hot tub was nice to relax after a long day at the parks. We were in room 406 and faced other hotels, as was mentioned in other reviews the garbage truck woke them up, I never had a problem with it, however other members of my family said it woke them up. I personally never had problems with the elevators as others have mentioned, but it does slow down a little when everyone wants on at once. Above all a great, comfortable, friendly hotel and I would stay here again.

  • Liked — It saved money with the free meal everyday.
  • Disliked — No complaints.

When I first booked this hotel I thought was booking the one closer to the park so I was a little disapointed when I realized I booked the one farther away. When I arrived however, I quickly changed my tune! This hotel was perfect for families!!

The room: We booked a two room kids suite that my both my kids were impressed with when we walked into the room. They had their own T.V., bunkbeds, AND bathroom. Came in handy when we were all running around trying to get out the door to Disneyland. Our room had it's own door so we could have some privacy and the kids room had a slider with curtains on it so they too had their privacy. The beds were pretty comfortable too for being in a hotel. It also had it's own kitchenette suite complete with dishwasher, fridge, microwave, coffee pot, sink, pots&pans, plates, silverware, etc... Everything you would need to do some cooking (if you planned on it).

The Ameneities: We did not have time to visit the pool so I can't comment on it other than it looked clean. There was also a basket ball hoop too, a game room, and laundry facilities. Neither of which we had time to visit/use but was good to know they were there in case we needed them.

The Food: We could not have asked for a better FREE breakfast. It has the usual toast, bagles, and muffins but also eggs, potatoes, sausage, cereal, waffles that varied in flavors from chocolate to strawberry while we were there (you also make your own so they are nice and fresh!) pancakes, french toast, fruit etc.... That alone easily saved a family of four a lot of $$$ on food in the morning and it was actually pretty decent tasting. There was also a kids area in the dining room with kid size tables and chairs that my 2 yr old LOVED and two T.V.'s that played the Disney channel non stop. We ddin't have a chance to take advantage of the afternoon get togethers but it's nice that they offered it.

The shuttle/park: The shuttle stops right in front of the hotel on the main road and drops you off the closest you can get to the entrance to the park. (Bus 1) HUGE relief at the end of the day when everyone is tired of walking (especially the little ones!!).

The service: Everyone there was friendly and courteous. Whenecer we needed help, they were always quick to respond. We also arrived an hour earlier than our check in time and they offered to watch out luggage if we needed to leave. They also very quickly got our rooms ready after only having to wait about 20 minutes instead of the hour that they quoted us initially.

We have stayed in several hotels and this by far for the value was the best one we have stayed in. We have decided that this will be our hotel that we will book from now on when visiting Disneyland. I highly recommend this place!!!

  • Liked — The great free breakfast and the kids suite!
  • Disliked — The distance away from the park but was not that bad in relation to everything else!
