My boyfriend and I stayed here in July and absolutely fell in love with the place. We stayed in one of the rooms in the main house and then the cottage (as we wanted to stay longer). Both were beautiful. Breakfast (fabulous home cooking) overlooking the superb gardens was a treat and we enjoyed a walk around the vineyards and fields every morning and sunbathed during the day or went off to see things. In the evenings we went for meals in Sonoma ($30 one way by taxi) or did our own wine and cheese tasting on the porch swing (Sonoma market has everything you will need). The birds that come to the garden are also great to see. The mexican cleaner was also lovely and friendly. This place is prefect for relaxation at its best. Highly recommended.

Stayed here last week with a friend. Gotta love a place that still makes ice cubes in trays in the fridge! Exquisite antigues, graciously decorated rooms and public areas (ie. no knick knacks), friendly hosts, very interesting fellow guests, unbelievable physical surroundings (can you find a more romantic name than Valley of the Moon?), and, not unexpectedly, a delicious breakfast we ate on the terrace. Finally, as a feminist, I loved the fact that the land was bought over a hundred and thirty years ago by a former slave. She also designed the house which is straight off a southern plantation. How could she afford this paradise I asked. The manager smiled a small smile. Creative marketing, was her enigmatic response. You figure it out. I recommend Beltane Ranch highly to all travellers.

My Partner and I really enjoyed Beltane Ranch-it was very welcoming and relaxing. Autumn was so nice and made Us feel right at Home from the minute We got there. We also met the Owner who was a really cool Lady and introduced Us to the Calf, the Dogs and The Horses. They let Us roam the Vineyards and eat grapes and blackberries. Our room was spacious and decorated in the vernacular of the house. Our neighbors were a nice couple from New England and We enjoyed talking to Them on Our shared balcony. We had a wonderful inexpensive dinner at La Hacienda. Beltane is a working ranch with lots of history and it is very real. Honestly it is One of the best places I have ever stayed.

Room Tip: We loved Our top floor corner room

All the hominess of a bed and breakfast without the creepiness of feeling like you’re staying in somebody else’s house.

I’m in love. This place is enchanting. We stayed in the cottage and found it rustic in the most adorable of senses – sitting area with fireplace, no TV, a little vanity area to get ready in the morning, and a beautiful private patio complete with blooming flowers and a lemon tree. The grounds are immaculate and their horses will come right over to you to let you pet them. On top of it all, you get a killer breakfast served right to your patio each morning. It was absolutely out of this world.

My husband has a low tolerance for anything “relaxing” or “quaint,” and even he loved his stay at Beltane. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else in Sonoma.

Side note: Some of you may be considering staying downtown versus in the countryside. I don’t know why anyone would stay downtown. This ranch is only an 8 minute ride from the square, and when we were downtown around 7:30pm the place was a ghost town - this was Saturday of Memorial Day weekend too! There’s not much of a nightlife to be missing out on by staying at Beltane.

This was the highlight of our trip to America. The house is beautiful and set like a jewel in the stunning surrounding landscape and fabulous manicured gardens. We stayed in the Water Tower in the grounds and it was a cosy perfect little nook, with its own little kitchen, sitting room complete with wood burning stove, upstairs a bathroom and up some more stairs an attic bedroom with a lovely veranda with fantastic views.
Breakfast was served in the fantastic dinning room or out on one of many verandas or patios. The food was absolutely gorgeous and everything was grown on the ranch so very fresh/tasty.
I would recommend this place without hesitation!!
On the flight back to UK, happened to watch the Emily Blunt film "Five Year Engagement" and part of it was based at Beltane Ranch....!! It looked beautiful on the film too!!!

We stayed for two nights in a smaller room on the ground floor in this lovely property. We very extremely satisfied with both the room and the service. To mention a few of the highlights; lovely mountain views, beautiful trees and landscaping, quiet location, support from staff with bike reservations and other activites, and an excellent breakfast (the best during our 3 week trip in the US). The ranch is also close to the charming small town of Glen Ellen, in which you can have a dinner at one of the relaxed restaurants or shop some snacks in the village market.

Absolutely loved our stay at the ranch. We stayed in cottage 6 and had our own little garden table and chairs. This place is utter bliss, you sit on the grass and look out onto acres and acres of stunning scenery, it's just so quiet and relaxing.

The breakfast here is delicious and the service is nice, not too over the top but leave you to do your own thing. Also, great location, within driving distance from all the major attractions.

Room Tip: Room 6 - one of the few that offer your private garden
