“More motel than hotel”
Reviewed 21 April 2014

2.5 stars... TripAdvisor has never let me down until now. Based on the pictures and reviews, I was expecting a nice hotel. However, this is not a 3-star+ hotel. It's more like a 2-star motel. Definitely not what I was expecting for over $200/night.

Pros:
- The room was okay, but nothing high-end, just average.
- Good proximity (30-minute drive) to wine country.
- The grounds are pretty and the room was quiet, despite being next to the highway.
- Made-to-order breakfast was okay, the omelets were pretty good.

Cons:
- Not high-end, nothing special about this place.
- The bathroom toilet water was yellow (sink and shower water were clear), and the toilet had obvious streaks.
- The front desk staff were friendly, but very young, and didn't seem very knowledgeable (they directed us to a strip mall for restaurants).
- Free wifi was shotty at times.

I think I was just really disappointed because I was expecting more. We chose Pacifica Suites over a Santa Barbara hotel that would have run $300-500/night, but for the price, I don't think it was worth it. Pacifica might be good for a younger crowd or a bigger group sharing a suite. We will not be coming back.

We've stayed here 2 or 3 times a year in the last 5 years as our daughter considered, attended and graduated from UC Santa Barbara. A suite was needed as we usually traveled with a sibling or were met by one. There's plenty of room for 3 or 4 people to spend the night. Hotel has good pool/spa and excellent free breakfast each morning, not just Costco muffins and hard-boiled eggs. Over the years, we have tried 3 other similar suite-type hotels in area and have always returned to Pacifica due to superb treatment by staff, better breakfast (for family of 4, not a small factor cost-wise) and "reasonable" rates. Face it, this is Santa Barbara area and you're going to pay a lot. But Pacifica is very competitive.
And when you want to travel into Santa Barbara proper, take a right and Hwy 101 is easy-access or you can take a left and go the old, pre-101 route. See some town as you drift to State Street..

Room Tip: Rooms away from the side of highway onramp are quieter but traffic is pretty much rush hour only. S...

We came here to visit as part of our UCSB. Although my daughter decided not to attend UCSB, I would highly recommend this hotel to parents of UCSB students. The front staff was very accommodating... I needed to change our reservation when I arrived on site. The included breakfast was delicious... made to order eggs. My only complaint is that our room was near the freeway side of the building. You may want to request the other side.

Room Tip: Chose a room on the south side, away from freeway.

I wentr to connect with my nephew's family. What a place!!! The grounds are beautiful; the staff so friendly and helpful; you can pick mandarin oranges right off there tree; the guests are delightful and fun to talk to and they listen to you; what a place, what a place, what a place; I am so glad I visited there. Santa Barbara & Goleta and the area are very close to Paradise!

Room Tip: You can pick the flowers. Be especially nice to the staff who are so nice to you.

Dear badEXPEDIA,

Thank you for the enthusiastic review and for taking the time to share your experience on Trip Advisor. Many of the plants and trees on our property have been here since the 1800’s and have a great historical significance to the area. Our guests are always welcome to the mandarin oranges, avocados, apples, figs and persimmons that grow here; we so are glad you experienced that during your stay! And we could not agree more with you comment on our guests, they really are the best! We look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit.

Sincerely,

I was pleasantly surprised to find this hotel in a rather out-of-the-way location compared to downtown yet very accessible. We stayed in a room that looked like it was close to the freeway but we discovered it was NOT the 101 Freeway and there was no road noise at all. Compared to may other places that include a breakfast, this breakfast wasn't just some dried out donuts or bagels but was a full made-to-order breakfast that was ready for us in a few minutes. Great night's sleep in a very clean and comfortable room. We will go back the next time we decide to head to Santa Barbara for a weekend.

SB is one of our favorite vacation spots. Typically we stay in the heart of everything (state street or by the beach) but everything was booked this time around, so we found this spot. When driving in I started to get anxious, as we passed many exits in SB, this place is in Goleta just outside the city right next to airport. The entrance is small but opens up to a wonderful place. Lots of greenery, trees and leaves everywhere! The hotel lobby is beautiful we checked in early and only took 5 minutes tops. The room was very nice and big, it actually had a couch with pull out bed as well. You could really fit a family of 4-5 people comfortably if you don't mind sharing the bathroom. We traveled with our toddler and asked for a crib, the hotel provided a pack-n-play not an actual crib, but it was nice.

Overall room is spacious and very clean and grounds are lovely. The old house on the property was open so we went inside, it was old-kinda creepy, but if you like history I suppose a nice treat. Each room has a balcony which is great for relaxing and taking in the views. The breakfast was yummy, the chefs did a great job. However, there is not enough seating. People were eating and hanging out like they were in a restaurant, so that is part of the problem.

The property had bikes but not sure where one would ride. Seems like it would be a long ride to state street, or the beach. So we drove down. We tried to stay out that way as long as possible since it was quite the drive.

Overall very pleasant stay- we will be back for sure!! I loved the view, and feel.

Room Tip: All the rooms seemed like they were good location.

Very close for a visit to UCSB (5-7 minutes).
Rooms are suites and comfortable but somewhat dated.
Hot tub was working and water was hot which was nice.
Lobby could really use some updating.
The main sofa in the lobby had visible stains and was not very comfy.
Nice that they had hot tea and coffee in the lobby.
Not much else to do or see in this area of Goleta though.
