“If I knew this about Groveland, I'd have moved here years ago!!”
Reviewed 16 September 2010

We have friends who have moved to Groveland, Knights Ferry & Twain Hart & with each of those moves, we told them they'd end up talking like hillbillies! The joke was on us! We loved this resort and would have stayed longer except our home is in the Bay Area along with our jobs. We called the day before a major holiday (Labor Day) b/c friends told us about this place, hoping there was a vacancy. Every RV spot in Yosemite was booked so imagine our surprise when Yosemite Joe (owner) called back to tell us we had a spot. Upon arriving, we didn't just have a spot..we had the lot!! We were given our choice of RV spots & it was the most beautiful wk-end we've had in years!! We had no wi-fi, no phone service & no music & what a difference that made in the quality of relaxation. Every nite, we went to sleep listening to crickets & cicadas & every morning, woke up to the sound of singing birds. The staff was unbelievably nice & accommodating, the resort was immaculate, rest. food was delicious & the short distance to Yosemite was a miracle. We want to move to Groveland and live here at this resort ~ full time!! We also want to meet Yosemite Joe on our next trip & thank him personally!!

The staff was beyond accommodating and very friendly. The park was clean. The location was great. In reading some of the reviews I thought it was sad that some were more concerned about their wifi and cable hookup than appreciating the beautiful scenery outside. I would definitely recommend this place.

This location was great. The staff was very helpful in giving advice for good fishing spots and dirt bike trails around the park. As well Joe (owner) was nice enough to get us passes to a private lake in groveland. This was especially nice since we have a 2 year old that enjoyed the beach. The location is only 14 miles from the park which made it a convenient location for driving in everyday. The bathrooms in the park were kept clean which was nice for use as well.
Thanks and we will come back for sure.

We had a party of 12 people. 8 motorcycles and a car with 4 adults. The staff at Yosemite Ridge was friendly and very helpful. The cabins / cottages were just as the pictures showed. They were ready with all the amenities to cook, freshen up and relax. The staff pointed out great fishing spots where my son caught fish. They even helped provide a habachi to cook the fish on when all the stores were already closed. Parking was very easy and the people at the site were all friendly. We are planning on making this an annual event. Can't wait until next year! Yosemite Joe was the best!

My friend and I drove from opposite directions to meet for a few days in Yosemite. This resort was perfect. We actually would have utilized the nearby restaurant more if we had known about it instead of bringing our own food. It was very peaceful and quiet, and the perfect distance from the Valley. I have stayed at other resorts in the area and they were not so nice as this one. We will definately come back again!

We stayed in the Garden Cottages and enjoyed our stay. Our cottage was very clean and comfortable and the staff very friendly. It was very nice to have a full kitchen and BBQ to make meals after a long day at Yosemite or visiting local areas. I was very impressed by the nice quiet evenings and the family atmosphere.

The drive into Yosemite park was very easy as well. We took a few different routes into the park (after "adventuring" around the Gold Country) and found this route was the easiest to access the Valley Floor. Little to no traffic issues.

This park is not what you would expect based upon their website and fellow reviews. If you don't have much experience driving an RV, don't even attempt to get to this campground. Road construction through Yosemite Park makes those cliffs nerve-racking and the alternate HWY 49 route is full of hairpin turns and cutbacks. The campground itself wasn't too great. No cell service on Verizon or Sprint. You have to drive down the HWY to a motel/restaurant (contrary to what the website leads you to believe) to get WiFi and even then, the connection isn't all that great. The older age of the campground is obvious- low laying electrical cords, sites are rather compact, laundry facilities-well let's just say I wouldn't dare wash my clothes there, gravel/rocky sights make it difficult to even get somewhat level. All in all, not a great campground. The drive into Yosemite NP was quite long and monotonous. Road construction made it even worse. Now I can't comment on the lodges/cabins but they seemed to be packed and people liking them so maybe if you are not in an RV, this is the place for you. Otherwise be for warned.

I'm sorry to hear that you let the roads, lack of cell phone service and a crowded WIFI dampen the enjoyment of your camping trip.

There are hundreds of RV;s using these roads every day, many of them being rentals driven by inexperienced Europeans and I haven't seen any problems getting here or into the park. We have no control over the roads in Yosemite (U.S. Forest Service) or the main highway (Hwy.120) which runs right by our park and is maintained by CalTrans. We finally got Verizon cell service last winter although you might have to walk a few feet in either direction to get a signal. Hopefully the other carriers will get here someday. Our WIFI at the restaurant is free and there are many times during the day when it is not crowded and available. Our restaurant was moved several years ago when we outgrew the original facility and is next door, about 500 ft. from driveway to driveway on Hwy. 120 or a pleasant 5 minute walk. We are an older park and are quite proud of it. Our trees are fully grown and provide great shade at all of our sites and although we don't have underground electric there are no wires over roadways or pads under 14 ft. which I'm sure you would have noticed and commented on. The pads are gravel and were laser leveled last year and we have had many compliments on the east of levelling. Most RVers prefer gravel over dirt and dust and as all of our roads are paved we don't have the dust problem that many "newer" parks have. Our laundry is clean, well lighted and has new washers, dryers and folding tables. There is also a comfortable park bench if you decide to spend a lot of time there. Many people enjoy the "long and monotonous" drive into Yosemite with the tall pines, gracious oaks and mountain views. That is part of the reason they came.

In closing I guess I'd just have to say that some things are a matter of perception and attitude or a "glass half full or glass half empty" situation. I hope you enjoy your future trips and find the amenities you are seeking.
