This was our second stay at the Evergreen Lodge. Over the past four years they have expanded considerably and it is a wonderful spot for couples or families to enjoy. We had forgotten that there is no AC and when we arrived at 3:00pm, our room was terribly hot. I asked for a room in a shded area and they were able to relocate us. The food is good, I had a GREAT margarita at the bar. Restaurant service consistently missed a few beats, like a banana split without the banana. It is a bit pricey, and beware of the 18% room tax. They have computers with SLOW internet access, if you can get onto one. (BUT,you are supposed to be on vacation and getting away from it all.) If you can live without AC, and your cell phone, (no signal) for a few days, you won't be disappointed.

After living in the bay area for the past five years, we decided it was about time we visited Yosemite. While looking at multiple lodging options, the Evergreen Lodge seemed like a good place to stay. The drive down wasn’t too bad and upon arrival, we were received by an extremely friendly staff. We were informed that our cabin was located in the newly constructed section. They were also very helpful by arranging dinner reservations at the on-site restaurant. With not many other dining options around (besides the well stocked general store) we were apprehensive about eating in the same place for multiple meals. The menu and quality of food turned out to be great. Even our kids could pick from different things to eat.

We had seen pictures of the rooms and the rest of the property on the Evergreen website, but those pictures didn’t do this place justice. The rooms are beautifully furnished and the beds (even the couch) are comfortable and have nice linens. The bathroom was huge and spotless, just like the rest of the cabin.

The rest of the grounds were great as well! The staff was very informative and explained many of the updates the property had received. It is obvious they did a great job! Our kids loved the pool/foosball tables as well as the arts and crafts and the computers were helpful as well. While some of the previous reviews mentioned the lack of TVs and slow internet speed, I found the escape from technology quiet pleasant. Being in a secluded area does not permit for high speed internet. However, it does permit for a place to reconnect with your family while not forgoing the essentials (comfortable beds, showers, etc).

The location to everything was great! It was close enough to the valley, while offering peace and tranquility that is not in the valley. I’d recommend it to anyone who would like to step away from the average, everyday hotel for a more unique experience and authentic way to discover Yosemite.

I recently stayed at the Evergreen Lodge for 2 nights at the beginning of the summer. The lodge exceeded my expectations to say the least. I was under the impression that it would be a rustic way to begin our vacation, without amenities such as TV and internet in the rooms. I never realized what a blessing the absence of these day-to-day distractions would be. Instead of lounging around in the room, catching up on the news, we actually took our time at meals (which we ate every night in the dining room and still wanted to go back to try more) and got to really catch up on each others lives. The rooms had a "cabinesque" feel which fit the surrounding and lived up to other hotels of equal value in comfort and style. Staying at the lodge proved to be a great way to begin our vacation and get away from the everyday demands of our regular lives.

At the risk of committing blasphemy, I have always kind of thought Yosemite was a little overrated: the traffic, the dust, the people...in July the valley can seem more like a refugee camp than a national park.

Then I stayed at the Evergreen Lodge, and it completely changed my mind. THIS is the pristine experience I'd been craving! Beautiful, private cabins in a pristine natural setting. We stayed in a family cabin with our kids (2 bedrooms separated from the living area by pocket doors) and found it just right.

The icing on the cake was the recreation areas. We could safely watch the sun set while our kids entertained themselves with the sandbox, Tipis, ping pong table, horseshoes, and board games that are available. Staff put out the makings for s'mores a few times a week, and you make your own around an outdoor fireplace. Heaven!

If you have limited time, the folks at the recreation desk can help you find the right hikes, swims, and experiences (as well as help you avoid crowds).

There's no cooking in the cabins (this is bear country), but we were more than happy fueling up in the restaurant and at the general store. People on a tight budget should check out the custom camping area. Tents, chairs, sleeping bags, freshly laundered sleeping bag liners, and air beds are all set up for you.

There is wifi here, but it's very slow. Fine for a quick check-in, not so fine if you really need to get some work done.

Highly recommended overall.

We were pretty disappointed in our stay at the Evergreen Lodge considering the price. Don't expect amenities like television or air conditioning. That said, I don't really want television at Yosemite and it got cool enough at night to sleep with fans on. They provide Sirius radio, but ours was broken the first night (they fixed it the second day). We also had a window screen that was bent and didn't seal the bugs out and they didn't get that fixed while we were there. There is no internet connection in the rooms, and the advertised internet in select areas was worse than nothing for the most part. That's because may people were wasting their vacation time trying to get connected, but the connections rarely worked. It's a short drive the the Hetch Hethy entrace of Yosemite, but that part of the park was also a disappointment for us. If the price was about $100 a night cheaper, this place would be acceptable.

On the positive side, they did have an area that was fun for the kids to meet other kids from many countries, play ping pong, play table-top shuffleboard, games, etc.

The Evergreen Lodge is a very nice property a few miles outside Yosemite National Park. We stayed in a one-bedroom cabin which was well appointed, nice bathroom and amenities, good bed and a sofa bed and small fridge in the living room. A bit spartan but very much in sync with the idea of staying at a camp. They have a decent restaurant, a nice and not particularly overpriced general store, game rooms, free internet (albeit slow) and a good bar. Grounds are immaculate. Yosemite is a short drive away and Evergreen staff will assist you in planning your visit and/or activities there. Recommended.

This is an amazing place to stay.
Negatives - can take up to 90 mins to reach Yosemite Valley
Positives - more tranquil than the valley and close to Hetch Hetchy.
The cabins were perfect. The only thing that would have made it better would have been a coffee machine and access to laundry facilities (although able to use at Housekeeping camp but a long drive).
Pretty much reliant on eating at the main lodge due to location - bit pricey, but given the starting price not surprising - this does bring me to the 'coffee' issue as the lack of a machine meant buying out all the time and this adds up.
Satellite internet was a bit iffy, and the loss of phone lines on the first night was a bit of a pain. Local phone calls are free though.
Some good tours on offer and this was a truly beautiful location.

Perfect get-a-way. At some point in everyone's life this is a perfect break.
Staff were helpful and efficient.
This is not a budget break by anymeans but it is worth every penny. I would take Evergreen over accommodation in the park anyday.
