“Lovely home, tranquil setting, great breakfasts!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2013

We stayed at Yosemite Rose for 2 nights. It is a beautiful and immaculate family home, classically decorated and furnished, with a communal library full of Yosemite guidebooks, a billiard room, and a dining room where there are always complimentary cakes, hot drinks, wine and port available in the evening - all very well received at the end of a day's hiking. Our bedroom (the Mary) had a hugely comfortable bed, a large walk-in closet and a well-appointed bathroom, with just enough room for a rollaway bed too. Internet works well. Breakfasts come in typically American sized portions, with a single option available stated on a board the night before. It is quite a drive to get into the park (an hour or so), which would have been a bit much had we stayed any longer, though we eventually realised that it's quicker not to drive back through Grovelands to get to Yosemite but to take the road in the other direction. Other guests were there for the local backcountry hiking, rather than going into the park - which actually makes far more sense with hindsight. Definitely one of the area's best accommodations.

Sally made us feel at home when we stepped into the house. It has everything we need. Very quiet at night and were able to rest peacefully after a day's hike in the park. Breakfast was extremely good and a perfect start of the day. Though it was quite a drive to get to the valley (around an hour one way) but we enjoyed the drive and the scenery. Highly recommend.

We enjoyed this beautiful, peaceful, quiet place! The hosts are friendly, charming, hardworking Americans with tremendous attention to detail for the comfort of every guest. The home has old world charm with all the modern conveniences since it is a reproduction of a famous old home. We stayed there with our children who enjoyed the pets and animals. The complimentary treats were delicious and the breakfast was delightful and filling.

Room Tip: The Brenda room was perfect for watching the sun rise and seeing a deer nibbling on fruit trees.

On a California rd trip with 3 teenagers which included staying in many places and they all rated this one of the memorable highlights of the holiday, as did we.
The hosts are lovely, welcoming , helpful and gracious.
They provide and lend guides to the park, gave great dinner recommendations, have lots of living spaces for guests to use, including a pool table room and made really lovely breakfasts.
They put out wine and deserts for when you return in the evening and nothing is too much trouble for them. It was 90'degrees when we were there and breakfast was served on a lovely porch.
The rooms are traditional but actually much nicer then they look in the photos on the website and the bed linens and towels were all high quality and really well laundered and starched like a top quality hotel with very comfortable beds.
Although its a drive down to Yosemite valley it's a nice easy drive through great scenery and on the way back on the first night we stopped for a swim at a waterfall as recommended by our hosts.

We stayed two nights in the mary room, beautiful room, very comfortable. The details in this home were amazing! They had a piano parlor, a library, game room and dining area where desert and port wine were served every evening. The breakfast were first class, beautiful presentation and nutritious. I could have stayed here for a week and let them cook for me, the food was really that good. I loved sitting in the parlor reading, listening to classical music. This family really goes all,out to make your stay comfortable. I would recommend this place to all couples for a quiet, romantic getaway!

We spent four nights at this wonderful B&B. The hosts could not have been more helpful, attentive or thoughtful.

Complimentary soft drinks, tea and coffee available all day, frequently accompanied by homemade Danish pastries or cakes. Choose a packed breakfast if you want an early start in Yosemite but you would miss out on Gary's delicious and varied cooked breakfasts. There are two lounges a snooker table and veranda for guests to enjoy.

The B&B is an hours drive from the route 120 entrance to Yosemite Park gate, two hours to the top of Glacier Point and one and a half hours to the Valley Centre. The drive in is very scenic, and we saw deer and coyotes so you won't miss out being a little further out.

There are plenty of places to eat in Groveland a ten minute drive from the B&B, including the Iron Door Saloon, reputedly the oldest drinking establishment in California.

Our room was beautifully clean and decorated, with an efficient and very quiet air conditioning system, although with opening and fly screened windows you might also opt for the fresh air too.

There is a peace and tranquility here that is worth seeking out and enjoying.

Stayed here while visiting Yosemite, it is about an hours drive to the valley floor. However the hospitality is simply astounding and the room we had was large and the bathroom was huge (we had Edwardo's room), a visit here is well worth the long drive to Yosemite. Breakfasts are served on the veranda and are just wonderful, Gary was doing the cooking while we were there and TJ served us all. We went for a 1.5 hour hike in Yosemite one day that turned out to be 6 hours and returned that evening exhausted and dirty. Celestia saw our pained expressions and offered to share their family dinner!! How's that for kindness!! We hope to return here one day.

Room Tip: Try and get a ground floor room if you have heavy cases, there is no elevator.
