Yosemite Westgate Lodge

The location of the hotel is definitely convenient to Yosemite, if you are not staying in the park. It is still a 40 minute drive from the valley. We had the family room with 5 people and it was nice for us. The biggest disappointment was the sign stating the wifi would not work. (Since ATT had no coverage here it was more annoying.) The rooms were clean and the pool was nice to relax in. The restaurant next door is good for both breakfast and dinner, since they do not provide breakfast. Overall I would stay here again (but would prefer to stay in Yosemite if possible.)

Yosemite Westgate Lodge was definitely a place I would visit again. It is close to the entrance of Yosemite. The room was clean. The person at the desk was friendly. The diner next door was good. Overall, we had a good experience.

We think people need to manage their expectations better around and in the Yosemite area. It is going to be expensive and it is going to be crowded and hotel owners have to put up with a slew of crooked customers fro all over the world with poor habits so give them a break. That being said, and yes, the room with the two queens was very basic, we found the staff to be very pleasant and helpful, especially with updates about the fire-related road closures. The room was clean, tidy and suited our needs as a place to kip after long days in the park. There is a nice (if small and occasionally crowded) pool in which to cool off (our 9 year old enjoyed splashing about with kids from all over the world) and the motel is quiet and peaceful by 10. It's true the next door restaurant lacks panache but for a tasty home-cooked breakfast to start the day, we're went 3 for 3! We recommend the short drive back in to Groveland for several excellent dinner options at different price points, plus access to a well stocked supermarche for your provisions for the park (a lot cheaper than buying stuff inside). All in all, we liked the place.

Great rooms, very clean, lots of windows for natural light. Has a laundry room where you can was clothes, which was very convenient. Very close to Tioga Road. Due to a large fire in Yosemite, I had to drive around to see the valley, but that had nothing to do with the lodge.

We stay here every year for a night on our way to Yosemite, to rest and get the long drive out of our backs by working out in the pool. This time, although they have updated a lot of the decor nicely, they have replaced all the pillows with foam ones and we could not sleep and woke up with neck aches. A/C was noisy and it was very hot out, so, a bad night, unfortunately. I have a walking difficulty and requested a room close to the pool when I reserved, then called ahead to confirm it, and they moved things around - so that I was not upstairs!!! Whoever put me up there did not get it when I said I was on crutches. But the room we got was the furthest room from the pool instead of closest, and they put us in a wheelchair room which did not work well for us. So I think they are overwhelmed in the front office in terms of any request that is out of the ordinary. They are very nice people so I know it is not that they just don't care. If you don't care what room you are in and are a heavy sleeper this is a great place for you.

Room Tip: If you cannot do stairs you need to call them two or three times before your arrive to make sure the...

Close enough to Yosemite but far enough from the crowds. Price was reasonable and the room was large and comfortable. After dealing with the throngs who (like us) understandably want to see this iconic treasure, it was great to retreat a short 12 miles to peace and quiet. Our room was clean and well kept. We enjoyed our 3 nights.

First, this is not in Groveland, it's actually beyond Groveland as you're headed west toward Yosemite. I believe it's in Bucks Meadow. You will want to know that so you don't freak out if you go through "downtown" Groveland and don't see it. Motel is well located not too far from the Yosemite West Gate on Rte 120. We had a sizable king bed room. It was equipped for handicapped access, which we had not been made aware of and wouldn't necessarily have wanted. (Booked this hotel many months ahead of mid-week July stay.) I know our room was more than $80 over the price of a double bed room... once I heard that rate quoted to a "walk in" I did feel a bit cheated. However, staff was nice and efficient and room was clean and comfortable. We did have an ice maker right outside the room, which was a bit noisy all night. You might want to avoid that.

Room Tip: Our corner first floor room had an ice maker right outside, which we could hear making ice on and of...
