We stopped in on the way up highway 1 hoping to find a place reasonably priced, clean, comfortable, that would take a dog. We drove in and the owner was throwing a ball for his dog in the back area of the parking lot so our dog just joined into that immediately. We went in expecting to find this place too expensive for us but the timing was right as it was discounted at the time and the place was perfect. The place was very homey, not your typical motel room. There was a fireplace in the corner, the window overlooked the river but the ocean was also in the view, the decor was quaint (very homey) and in good taste... not at all stereotypical of most motel rooms. The furniture and the bed was very comfortable and the place was quiet; the unit was very sound proof. The next morning, the owner had set out a lovely continental breakfast and we sat in the living room of the place with armchairs, pillows, stuffed animals, flowers, etc. and enjoyed our coffee and breakfast. It felt like we were visiting them in their front room. We enjoyed it very much and would love to be able to stay there again another time.
