We spent the first half of our trip in the city, and the second half at Boon. With family nearby, it made perfect sense.

Pros: super comfortable. We were there in October, off season, so it wasn't crowded, but I can't imagine that being fully booked would change the atmosphere any. The room we stayed in was a unit with it's own private balcony and a fireplace....we shared a wall with a second room. Though we weren't there much during the day, every moment there was relaxing.

We were greeted by the friendliest woman I'd met in quite a while, and she set the tone for the location: earnest, not pretentious in the slightest, friendly, warm, and very relaxed.

The room was big, the fireplace was great. The bed was very good. Cork floors over hardwood, a fridge, and a great shower. We had to use the heat, and it took some practice to get the heater and the fireplace to work together well (tip: set the heat super low, as the fireplace puts out a lot of heat).

In the cooler months they deliver breakfast. Great coffee.

The location is great. Clear sky, huge trees, a short bike ride (they have bikes you can borrow) to the Armstrong Woods, as well as a very short distance to town. We didn't get a chance to try their restaurant in town, but we've heard good things.

Everyone we talked to knew about the hotel and spoke well of it.

All in all, it's a fantastic place. We'll be staying at Boon every chance we get.

Room Tip: I'd go with any of the rooms, but the larger units with a private deck / patio are fantastic.

Wanted to love Boon and actually liked a lot about it but for the price felt a bit underwhelmed. In fairness there aren't a lot of places in this area that are as nice and certainly appreciate what the owner has done with an older property.
The pros: very comfortable beds, top quality linens, nice pool setting and grassy areas for playing bocce ball or croquet, bikes offered (with a qualification), delicious continental breakfast.
The cons: the aforementioned continental breakfast isn't served until 8:30 at the earliest, nothing in the room to allow for making a cup of coffee or tea for early risers (an electric tea kettle perhaps?), the bikes were not in good repair (as I headed into town all of a sudden the bike was going in one direction and the handlebars in another, saddle came lose on a different bike), area around ice machine in pool area very unappealing as water leaks all over under the mat.
These may sound like nit picky things but at the price charged it should be a more complete experience than it is. The honor bar idea for alcohol is a nice idea but how about offering some beverages at no cost i.e. sparkling waters or soda?
Staff seemed nice, room cleanliness was excellent. All in all, a pleasant experience but would not rush back.

Room Tip: try for room as far away from road as possible as Armstrong Woods Road is a freeway during the day a...

First one must consider the hotels location...Guerneville is not a raging metropolis! With that note this property is a gem! Located a short 15 minute at most walk from the center of town is this little oasis. We stayed two nights and had a very enjoyable time. The property is dog friendly and we brought ours. Originally we had been given room 6 on our email reservation and our sleep quality may have been better in that room rather than Lucky 13 which we were given. 13 was right next to the highway and it was quite noisy. That said the room was fine. Minimal in furniture which we like. Nice little fire place, very comfortable bed and a nice little back yard area that the dog loved. The grounds are beautiful. The very clean pool was a little too cold to take a dip in but the hot tub was very enjoyable. The place has a feeling like a little resort out of the 60's!
The staff is very efficient and welcoming. Sue ( I think that was her name) showed us our room and made certain to know what time we wanted our breakfast delivered each morning. At that exact time each morning a very pleasant man delivered us our muffin or biscuit, yogurt and fruit or egg and fruit and fresh pressed coffee! Our bed was made and all towels changed while we were gone. Prior to leaving Teddy made sure everything was taken care of.
We received a wonderful massage from the Cyndee at the spa. Lovely.
There are treats and an honor bar in the room as well as an honor's bar at the pool. Everything is very well thought out!
The only con for us was the level of noise in our room and it also backed up to a trailer park where we could hear the folks behind us. Other than that the perfect stay!

Room Tip: Try and request a room further in the back for a more quiet stay!

So glad we got to stay here on our quick trip to wine country. The hotel grounds are really lovely, green and airy and very close to a redwood park. There is a lovely pool area that made me wish it were warmer when we were visiting, so that we could enjoy the pool area a little more. Since it was a little chilly, we had a cozy time inside instead, lighting fires in our wonderful little fireplace and enjoying the snacks provided in the rooms (they have an amazing and truly delicious selection!)

The room itself was really great, we had a queen suite, with a little sitting room and a bedroom. The bathroom has awesome bath products and you get a lovely waffle-weave robe. It was so nice to have breakfast brought to us by the fire in the mornings, and both days the breakfast was great- a biscuit on one day and a fritatta on another, washed down with fabulous coffee and accompanied by delicious yogurt.

The staff at this hotel is amazing. They are so friendly and warm and have great suggestions for things to do.

The price of this hotel was perfect, especially compared to the cost of some of the other places to stay in this area. I really felt like we got excellent value for money and would stay here again in a heartbeat- if it's not all booked up!

Gorgeous setting, grounds, pool and spa. Loved the poolside bar. The complimentary breakfast was over the top, and served at your requested time. Close to the amazing Armstrong Woods Redwoods State Park, and to town. Beds are great.Staff, when available were friendly and responsive.
Negatives include a moldy smell in our room, somewhat toxic smelling smoke from fireplaces in
rooms burning provided presto- like logs. We lit one at night and ended up with a room full of toxic smoke at 3am. No staff at night, and no phone in rooms to contact anyone if you did have a problem. Cell and Wi Fi was non functional as well, for us.

Great hotel in a lovely town. Really friendly and helpful staff. A beautiful spot with pool, free bikes to borrow (5 minutes to town, 10 minutes to Armstrong State Park (beautiful)). Great breakfasts at poolside. Room and bed very comfortable with all amenities, private deck a nice touch. Fireplace in room. The Boon restaurant in town serves some of the best food I've ever tasted and such great staff there too! All in all - the best. Just go!

Room Tip: Room 8, nearest the hot tub is great with a private deck at the rear - it's a detatched room too...

When we drove up we were concerned traffic noise would be an issue. We walked through the gate and realised this was a gentle oasis in the middle of a river resort town. Minimalist decor, spa feeling. The pool and hot tub give you a sense of escape. The honour bar a nice touch. Bikes free to use although we drove in to the restaurant affiliated to the hotel.....(Fabulous meal) Next night we will ride out Brommies in (Very Brommie friendly)

Room Tip: Book away from the road.
