What a fantastic place! My husband and I had booked a Groupon for the Applewood Inn. When I called to make a reservation, the days that the Groupon stipulated were completely booked. The reservationist was able to accommodate us and honor the Groupon regardless. Upon our arrival, the staff was ultra-friendly, welcoming, and helpful. We were greeted with a complimentary glass of wine and the owner, Carlos, gave us a tour of the grounds while we waited for our room to be ready (we arrived early). The grounds were absolutely beautiful. We had dinner in the restaurant that night. The food was out of this world! We will definitely be staying here again when we're back in wine country. This was a perfect and peaceful place.

Room Tip: Cozy rooms are very cozy, but some have patios with table and chairs. Depends on what you want: your...

We stayed at the Applewood Inn for our honeymoon in mid May and had an amazing experience. The staff was extremely friendly and always seemed genuinely happy to see us and offer help and advice about touring the area. They had knowledge of every vineyard/winery that we wanted to visit and were quick to offer coupons/deals whenever they could. The other guests that we encountered were all very nice. The breakfasts were a wonderful way to start the day and the dinner we had at the restaraunt was fabulous! We are already looking forward to our next stay at the Applewood!!

This was our second time staying at the Applewood Inn, and once again, we were not disappointed.
Beautiful grounds and a helpful staff make it an relaxing stay. They serve a full breakfast with extras, and complementary champange in the afternoon. The restaurant is 5 star and lovely. They a offer a passes to many of the wineries. Applewood is walking distance to town, hiking trails, and kayaking. A wonderful way to spend our Anniversary.

Room Tip: Every room is beautifully appointed weither large or small with all the amenities necessary to make...

My husband and I have stayed at Applewood Inn periodically over the years and always greatly enjoy our visits. The owner, Carlos, gives us an especially warm welcome, even remembering our names after sometimes quite a space between visits. The restaurant serves wonderful breakfasts and evening dining is superb. It's such a place that one just wants to return to enjoy the environment, wonderful meals, genuine hospitality and excellent service.

We stayed at the Applewood inn for two nights this past week and we absolutely enjoyed it! It was just what we wanted and much more. The Inn itself is so beautiful, romantic, quiet and clean. We stayed at the Montepulciano Veranda room - looked just like in the pictures - amazing! The wine passports that came with our stay helped us explore Sonoma and Russian River Valley in a convenient and enjoyable way. For our first night we had dinner at the Inn's restaurant. We both ordered the Chef's tasting menu and loved it - it's a great and reasonably priced way to try most of the menu items. Our server Nate was very knowledgable and nice, he made our dinner experience memorable. For our second night we wanted to try a local restaurant so Katlyn from the front desk helped us with plenty of suggestions and made a reservation for us at The River's End - unforgettable view, very romantic setting, food was good too. Both nights we enjoyed the hot tub at the Inn, it was a little cold for the pool but very beautiful - in the back part of it, overlooking the forest. We didn't have a chance to try the Spa and we should have :) Breakfast (two courses with unlimited mimosas and espresso drinks included with your stay) was fenomenal also! Luis and his colleague were great - they were able to handle the whole dining room and everybody was certainly enjoying everything! The brûléed ruby red grapefruit was exceptional!
Altogether our stay was definitely one to remember - Carlos, the owner and everyone else were welcoming and warm, they made us feel like they truly enjoyed having us there.
Thank you once again!

My husband and I stayed at Applewood for 2 wonderful nights. The retreat offers a secluded escape under the redwoods and steps away from the incredible wineries Sonoma has to offer. We stayed in the Chianti suite, which had a fireplace, private patio with a hot tub, and a shower with dual shower heads. The rooms were quiet and clean. The Tempur Pedic mattress gave us the best sleep of our stay. Breakfast was always delicious and Michael made sure we had everything we needed. We ate dinner at the restaurant one night. Unfortunately, it was the night the jet lag had taken hold so I don't know that I truly appreciated how great the food was. It is certainly worth trying again. I really can't find anything negative to say. When we have the opportunity, we will be sure to return. If you are looking for somewhere to stay, look no further. You can't beat Applewood!

Also, if you are looking for somewhere different to eat, try Boon just minutes away in downtown. The food is divine...or as my husband says "This food is ridiculous!"

Just back from our first stay at Applewood Inn--an overnight to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We live in the North Bay and were looking for something close, yet far enough away to feel like an escape. Our stay at Applewood Inn did not disappoint. The property is like a private Tuscan-style oasis set in the heart of the Russian River Valley wine country. The staff was welcoming and attentive without being invasive, and our room (Cortona) was divine; beautifully appointed furnishings with fireplace, super comfy bed, and a private hot tub patio. The only downside was no shower--just a sunken tub with a handheld shower, but this hardly detracted from our enjoyment. The grounds are gorgeous--lovely gardens, fountains, pool/hot tub, and towering redwood trees. Very tranquil and a great place to rejuvenate. We took advantage of the onsite spa services and booked a double, one hour massage--fabulous! We ended our day with a delicious gourmet dinner at the restaurant where both the food and service were spot on (a wonderful breakfast was also included in our stay). This location is also a 10 minute drive to nearby Korbel winery (definitely worth a stop and tour/tasting of their champagne cellars) and a 20 minute drive to the coast and beautiful Goat Rock Beach. We will definitely return to Applewood again!
