My wife and spent 2 nights there in Mid May and had a very relaxing and restful stay.
The staff was outstanding and in fact upgraded us to a larger room because of a minor odor in our room(which I could not detect).
Restaurant was closed however but the breakfast was outstanding
They also packed a breakfast for us when we left as we were running late to the airport.

The hotel is beautiful, cozy, clean, unique and has great service. Breakfast is really amazing. Dinner was also delicious but a bit over priced. Location is great, very private, walking distance to town and the river - there is a stretch that didn't to me seem totally safe for walking, but doable. Lovely place to stay and explore the river, redwoods, and ocean. I highly recommend it!

The applewood inn was very nice. The staff was friendly and greeted us with a glass of wine. The room we stayed in was nice and the beds were super comfy! The restaurant is closed Monday and Tuesdays which was a bummer because that's when we were there. The breakfast was ok. Nothing special. There is a little town near by the inn which has some good restaurants and local market store which we enjoyed.

My husband and I went here on our honeymoon as we saw the Groupon and thought it would be a nice, relaxing getaway.

The Inn was very nice... kind of an Italian woodsy feel. We stayed in the Pistoia (Room 8) which was beautiful. Plenty of room, comfortable bed, nice bathroom, private shaded porch. The building we were in is pretty old so there weren't any screens on the doors or windows. We really wanted to keep the windows open and let the breeze in so we had to kill a few spiders and flies-- but it was worth it for the nice weather. The breakfasts were delicious. Kaitlin was working with us both days and she was super helpful and sweet.

This is definitely a great spot for a quiet, private stay. Our room was right next to the main office, but we hardly ran into anyone else. All the hotel workers leave at 7pm so you are pretty much on your own for the night (which was fine as we didn't need anything).

The Inn is located just a minute away from downtown Guerneville. We tried really hard to explore it and see it for the "quaint and charming" town that people had described. However we found it very old and run down with very few places to eat. In the evening the bars were packed, so we tried to avoid the area... Just in case.

Just 10 minutes away was Forestville which seemed a bit more updated, had some really great restaurants, and had quite a few wineries (Russian River Valley Winery!) for us to go to. We spent our days there instead of Guerneville and had a great time.

The Inn is maybe 10 minutes south of the Armstrong Redwoods which were beautiful. We went on a couple hikes there (if you make the effort to climb the mountain, the view is gorgeous).

Overall: The Inn has a rustic/Italian feel, is quiet, private and lovely. The breakfasts are very nice and the staff we encountered was wonderful. The location is great for hiking in the redwoods and visiting some local wineries. Guerneville could be quaint and charming with some updates, but we chose to spend our time in the newer surrounding towns.

We had a wonderful time at the Applewood Inn using our Groupon special. We stayed in #7, Pisa, one of the cozy rooms--I wish our home bed and bath were this nice! Well appointed, great comforter, multiple windows that look out over the trees. This room is close to the office, so we did hear the check-in noise, but it didn't bother us, and night-time was absolutely fine. Valerie, who checked us in, was full of helpful knowledge about the area. And, just because a slow-running sink was not quite remedied by check-in time, the owner immediately gave us $50 off our dinner bill (in addition to the discount of the Groupon deal). Really above and beyond! The food was excellent for dinner and breakfasts, the hot tub a real treat. We had a wonderful time in this place that exceeded our expectations. (P.s., I see in another comment that someone tripped near the ice machine--I didn't trip, but came close--I agree that the step should be marked to help people avoid a potential hazard).

The minute we stepped onto Applewood Inns grounds there was a peaceful tranquility. The courtyard and fragrant flowers welcomed us as we made our way to the office. The inn's owner Carlos greeted us with a glass of champagne and a warm hospitality and show us the amenities and our room. The pool and hot tub were refreshing after our 3 hour trip. The public spaces offered a great opportunity to enjoy the grounds and water features.

The morning 2 course meal was a real treat. Each of our three days something different and wonderful was severed. Our last night we had a chance to experience the culinary triumphs of chef Ti and his staff. Perfect pairing of fresh ingredients and local wines.

We will be back! Thanks Carlos, Kateland and all the staff member who made our three days so memorable.

Room Tip: Upper rooms may provide better wifi. The beds are so comfortable sleep is easy!
