this place has very good food, very good view of pacific, but seated outside exposes you screaming children climbing all over things. the noise was so loud my wife and i had to speak loudly to hear each other. they ignored their mom and the wait staff did nothing. they should offer an adults only section for couples who want to have a romantic moment while allowing the rest of the restaurant to be kid friendly. since they have lines of people wanting for tables it probably does not matter to most people. just think of couples having a moment please.

Sam's Chowder House is on our list of favorites now. Dining outside offers a wonderful waterfront view. Multiple patio heaters and a fire pit provide warmth and ambience. Our waiter was superb, but the star of the show was the lobster roll. At $22, we had almost decided against it, because how could a mere sandwich be worth that? But since it was rated one of the top five sandwiches in the nation by the NBC Today Show, we decided to give it a go. To die for! It had huge chunks of fluffy, succulent lobster meat. The bun was simply a vehicle for the lobster. The chips and slaw were good, but the lobster roll was incredible. We also tried the Salmon - with Giusti Farms artichoke and potato cake with roasted young red onions, asparagus and basil aioli. It was also delicious and I would eat this again. Do yourself a favor and make sure to visit Sam's Chowder House. You will not be sorry!

We stopped by for lunch. We didn't have a reservation. Party of four. We were told it would be a 25 minute wait but it was more like a 1hr 25 minute wait. The food was ok, the views were nice and it ends there. Not sure if it's because the place it too busy, too big but the service was pathetic all around. First, after waiting for over an hour an a half, we went to ask the hostess how much longer we needed to wait. We were seated a little while after. Once seated, the waitress must've been having a bad day or something because she was very short with us and gave us some major attitude even though we were very happy to be seated. We're on vacation after all. She was slow with gathering our order, bringing drinks and water, the food took a long time, it even took a long time to get the bill.
Suffice to say It was not a pleasant experience. I still don't understand why we didn't just get up, leave keep driving and hit someplace else. I will never go again or even recommend this place to anyone.

Busy place - make reservations, we did and were immediately seated. Large outdoor and indoor seating capacity. The chowder was wonderful. I asked the waitress for a suggestion - she said the salmon was at it's best right now - she was so right. It was the best salmon I have ever eaten. My husband had the stuffed prawns and loved them too. As I said it is a busy place, our server was good, but the times between stopping by to check on us maybe a little long but not too bad. I love seafood, so as long as it is delicious the service can slide a little bit. Prices were quite reasonable.
