Description: We believe that reasonably priced "American Comfort Food" is a rapidly disappearing culinary cuisine in the Bay Area. We decided that we would not let that vanish. Providing a fine balance of basic tasty foods and exquisite culinary delights where comfort and creativity collide, we proudly present El Granada with our latest venture- Flavor. What is California Comfort Food? Simply put, it is an attempt to take some of the classic and not so classic comfort dishes and have our wonderful chefs add some sort of twist to them. “The New Queen of the Harbor”

Having moved across the road to sparkling new premises only a few months ago, this restaurant has already acquired a huge following and deservedly so.
Good fresh food, particularly the sea food from the nearby harbor, served in huge comfort style portions is a sure fire winner. Service is friendly and fast. We tried the seafood chowder, loaded with prawns, crab, halibut, scallops and clams in a delicious white creamy sauce. There must have been a quart per portion of sheer perfection. And this was after a "special" starter of crab rissoles and dipping sauce. Those on the "turf" side were equally well served. The skirt of steak with garlic mash and pan braised sprouts was tender and tasty.
Unfortunately, with accompanying rosemary focaccia and balsamic dip, we had no room left for dessert, but next time we plan to visit we will skip lunch so we can do justice to the full experience

This has all the makings of a great success story. Get in now before the crowds find out about it.
Only drawback is that it can be a little noisy when full.

Not worth it. There are better restaurants in Half Moon Bay. Went a few times, but wouldn't go again.

“Bizarre contrasts”

I found this restaurant hard to pin down, with key issues ranking from 2 to 4+ stars!

NOTE * This restaurant has moved across the highway, down closer to the harbor! The old sign is still up on the now-closed property by Highway 1, and there is no 'We've moved' sign in evidence. TripAdvisor shows the corrected street address, but reflects it on the map in the WRONG location.

PROS

- Great beer selection (2 choices sold out) of Craft, local and Belgian varieties. Probably 25 or so total, this is one of the best selections not named 'Harrys Hofbrau'.

- Awesome burger, perfectly seasoned and cooked, with delicious fries AND Mac & Cheese on the side.

- Jambalaya was VERY good, plenty of seafood, nicely spiced.

CONS
- Service started good, not so attentive as night went on

- The 'Fresh Fish of the Day' was Alaskan Cod, cooked in packet. Somehow it was a bit overdone, and frankly tasted like it was previously frozen cod. The real head-scratcher was the sauce, described as a bed of fresh vegetables, was actually heavy on peeled baby carrots (from a bag, presumably) and corn (not available fresh in this area). The sauce was tasty. For a diner that hates corn, and sees a sauce RICH in corn, well, maybe the description could have been more specific

- The Seafood pot pie had a tasty pastry crust, nicely done - but was very thin on seafood contents, among lots of potato and carrot. One shrimp, several small scallops, one bite of halibut, and no crab to be found, was not the abundance I was hoping for. The 'white pepper roux' was white, but not peppered. I had to hit the salt and pepper frequently to bring this dish up to par.

We had a 5 star dish, a 4 star dish, a 3 star dish, and a 1-2 star dish... With a 5 star view.

“Worst Pizza ever ate!!”

Pizza tasted like cardboard and was expensive.The person waiting on me was rude. It shouold of been a clue that I was the only one in the restarant at 5PM

Thank you for coming to Flavor and we appreciate your feedback. After a couple negative reviews we realized that the recipe that we were using was not being prepared correctly. We have fixed it and I believe that it is an extremely different product now. If you are in the neighborhood please come back and visit us and please tell us what you think. “After 3 weekends in a row, I'm a regular.”

I've had two dinners and a brunch there. Consistent welcoming service every time. The portions are just enough for being full with a left over on the side. I'm still working my way thru the menu, but The Maverick soup is wicked. And its hard not to order the jambalaya every time. Super lucky to live so close to it.
