“Great Fish and Chips!”
Reviewed 14 August 2014

My wife and I were on a day's road trip from our home in Marin County and met a friend here, who recommended it. Nice seating out back in the patio. I had the fish and chips, which were excellent. Really fresh white fish and a nice, light batter. The fries were excellent, nice and crispy and not overly oily. I'll be back, for sure!

“Good Food and Not So Good food”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

We are locals and noticed this place many times in the past but last night
we decided to try it and after the experience we decided not to return.
Here is why- we saw all the tables were occupied so we waited and waited and were about to leave when I noticed a sign stating there was seating in the patio which the server who told us we could wait could have told us about but did not.We took our seats on the patio across from
some other customers who were served a pork shoulder and lasagna. The customer took a few bits of the pork shoulder and then informed the server that the the pork was inedible and she was sending it back to the kitchen. Not a good start as we began ordering. Was the salmon fresh
I asked hoping to enjoy my favorite fish. No it is frozen the server replied. Well ok plan B
was an order of minestre soup which was tasty and served with pita bread. No fish so I tried
calamari which was also frozen and loaded with chili spices so the eating experience was a cross between red hot chilli peppers and crunchy batter droppings. Next time we will consult
trip advisor before wandering into the unknown restaurant world even if it is in our own backyard. When they say their food is eclectic that could mean almost anything and if you are not careful
about what you order that is exactly what you will get.

“Surprisingly Good”
Reviewed 11 July 2014

A cross between Mexican and Middle Eastern, this little gem in the middle of Main Street in downtown Half Moon Bay, surprised us with it variety of flavors and excellent friendly attentive service.
We have 4 items from the tapas part of the menu. The middle eastern platter was fabulous and the accompanying pita was fresh and warm and soft with just the right amount of chew. The plate of 3 tacos were delicious. The squid was crisp and tangy, but a little overdone. The moussaka was not really moussaka, but more like Chenna Masala with eggplant and some sauteed spinach; lovely with the pita, as if it were nan. Our waitress would have been happy to bring us additional pita, but we had to leave room for dessert. We had a hard time choosing between the rustic pear tart and the brownie sundae, but the table next to us got the sundae and they looked like regulars, so we went with that. It was served with homemade vanilla gelato and a fresh sliced strawberry. Will will have to return one day to try the tart, because based on everything else we ate, it is sure to be a hit too.

“Good Food and Exceptional Service”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

A wonderful "find" in downtown Half Moon Bay ~ with good food, lots of choices and the most exceptional service. My Mom and I shared two salads and each had a different glass of local wine on the little patio in the back and experienced such exceptional service I had to write here. Additionally, I inadvertently dropped my wallet under the table and it had been returned by our waitress with everything still there...INCREDIBLE!! Made me love the experience even more!

“NOT French food, FYI”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

Don't go to Chez Shea expecting French food. I don't really know how to describe Chez's food, but my roasted chicken was good, but it was served with a side of reheated frozen veggies and some sort of instant mashed potatoes. Not great.
