We stayed one night with our dog. Big thumbs up for being such a genuinely dog-friendly inn/hotel.
Pluses - really nice bar area and restaurant - smart but quite informal, stylish and warm. Extremeley nice folk. Great food and wine, we ate very well. And slept in a very comfortable bed.
Minuses - you can't escape the annoying incessant hum of the M6. The location of the inn could hardly be described as 'picturesque'; next to fairly grubby houses, on the A6 and almost opposite a railway line. None of these are anything that management and staff can do anything about, of course.
Our room was clean and smart but very small and not particularly special. Lights weren't bright enough to be useful, only 1 set of towels left for us, plug-in radiator for warming the room... The shower was good but there was no bath. And the hot water had run out at 9am on Sunday (9.30 seems a bit early for 'last orders' for breakfast on a Sunday morning as well). I didn't feel it was worth £125 for a night's B&B.
If I could give 3.5 stars I probably would.More
