Fabulous location across the road from the beach in Brighton, Adelaide (lovely area). Parking available and food in bar area was good (food in bistro buffet was relatively cheap but looked very dried out).
The only thing clean about the bedroom was the bed linen. The windows and paintwork looked like they had not been cleaned for years. When we checked in we were told the door by which we accessed the bedrooms would be locked at night (this door appeared to be a fire exit, however would be locked?!?). There was music late at night, noisy revellers on the bedroom corridor and noise on the street / trucks from 6am. A small kitchenette on the first floor was filthy dirty.
Due to the Ashes cricket there was no other accommodation available - otherwise we would have checked out.
In 3 weeks travelling around Australia this was by far the very worst accommodation we encountered.

Room Tip: Would not recommend staying there. Try the Comfort Inn in Glenelg - spotlessly clean and has a small...

Our first night out as a couple without the kids we went to the esplanade hotel in brighton. We ordered 2 main course salads and a bowl of wedges and waited 40 minutes. I went up and said to the lady we have waited 40 minutes and had nothing she said oh we are very busy and picked up our ticket and shouted to the chef. Another 15 minutes passed and the other tables around us received their meals even though they ordered after us. Our wedges and main courses arrived together even though we asked for the wedges first and no apology was given. The waitress asked all the other tables how their food was but not us. The table behind us were given a full refund for their meals yet we weren't even asked or apologised to. For 2 salads and wedges we were $50 which I highly regret wasting our time spending. We looked forward to our night out as a couple and it was ruined by this experience so we won't bother again.

Stopped for lunch at the Espy. Managed to park outside, food service in the Bistro area by the large kids play area had finished but the friendly staff allowed us to sit here still and advised how to order our food from another area in the hotel. Good selection of food and drink, large portions and all very tasty. Kids loved the play area and we loved the view out to sea. Reasonably priced and very relaxed. They seem to do a lot of specials through the week and at weekends. We certainly left impressed and hope to return.

We were a group of 20 and decided to share in a celebration with pre-dinner drinks and then a meal. The choices of wine and beer was good and wine by the bottle was well priced especially The Shaw and Smith Sav Blanc @ $39 when you can expect to anywhere between $20-$30 a bottle. It was also good to see that they were supporting SA wine growers/makers.

We dined in the café not the bistro and were pleasantly surprised by the menu selection. I chose the 'Chefs Got Mussels' and my husband the current special a '350 gram New York Cut with Garlic Prawn, Chips and Salad' at $19.90.

All the menu choices for our group were very well received and looked, smelt and tasted delicious! My 1 kg mussel dish were from Kinkawooka in Boston Bay presented in the mussel suppliers own wonderful special mussel pot poached in a tomato, chilli, prawn and chorizo broth. The chorizo was quite spicy and little salty for my taste but all the same delicious. My husband's meal was also thoroughly enjoyed.

All and all a very enjoyable evening, so we will be back and the prices were very reasonable. We also had an entertainment voucher which saved us a further 25%. We shall also be investing in a couple of the Mussel Pots which we ordered from the Adelaide Farmers Market Kinkawooka Stall today. Well done ESPY!

Stayed two nights for conference in Adelaide. Three of our group checked out after the first night because the rooms were dirty and awful. No television in some rooms, the one I had did, but it was so old it only showed three stations, no remote. Curtains falling down, didn't meet in the middle, old damaged furniture in room, bathroom has never been refurbished. Carpet in the passages worn and stained and everything stinks of cigarettes. It's a pity they don't upgrade and give the same consideration to the accommodation as they have to the renovation of the rest of the hotel. Just thankful I didn't have to pay for it!

Room Tip: From what I can gather, there is no good room.

Following a power failure in Glenelg ( adjacent suburb ) it was 1.45pm and we had 2 very hungry grandies aged 6 and 8 and no lunch. We arrived without a booking and were quickly seated and in next to no time 4 meals and drinks. The children serves were generous and adults mains spot on for lunch. We enjoyed the view looking out to seas whilst the grandies took advantage of the games room. Recommended.
