My husband and I just returned from our sixth stay at Belle de Jour over the past 3 or 4 years, and we continue to believe it is the perfect place to stay in Napa or Sonoma. It is a 2-3 minute drive to downtown Healdsburg, yet the rooms and the grounds feel like they are on a country estate. The rooms are quiet and very private, each with its own private entry. We particularly like the views to the east over the lovely grounds, where we enjoyed watching quail and other birds and the two resident deer.
Tom and Brenda are perfect hosts. They are genuinely friendly, and, if you want suggestions--for restaurants or for wineries to visit, for example, they are well-informed and helpful. They gladly make dinner reservations for their guests and call wineries for tasting appointments. And they serve a delicious breakfast--usually a light egg dish and always good coffee, fresh fruit, and fresh-baked biscuits, scones, or other breakfast bread. Tom and Brenda have a gift for making you feel welcome without at all invading your privacy.
We have told our friends that we love Belle de Jour because it is as comfortable as visiting relatives--but without the relatives.
