Owner description: Tucked into the hills of Sonoma County's Alexander Valley, Jordan Vineyard & Winery welcomes guests by appointment for four unique tours and tastings. From perennial gourmet wine tastings with food pairing in our cellar room and walking tours through our iconic chateau, to epicurean excursions across our scenic property and festive holiday celebrations offered seasonally, there is something for everyone to enjoy. All tours include both walking and seated tastings, each featuring seasonal tastes from the Jordan chef paired with vintages of Jordan Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Jordan's Estate Tour & Tasting also includes driving. Advance reservations are required due to the intimacy of tastings. Inspired by the timeless elegance of French wine and food, Tom and Sally Jordan founded Jordan Vineyard & Winery in 1972. Their vision was to create a wine estate that produced food-friendly Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay to rival the finest in France--and to capture the essence of gracious hospitality. Today their son, John, builds upon their legacy. Made reservations for a private small group tour and tasting. The estate is just lovely and our tour guide was very interesting and very patient. Some people that were in the group we were put with had already been to other wine tastings and were a bit rude but our guide was wonderful.
The wines poured and the small bites with each were perfect.
We love Jordan wines, so it was so much fun to see the estate and hear the history behind the winery.

My wife and I stayed for two nights at the Jordan Winery Estate guest cottage and it was a memorable experience. It is not accessible to the public but stays can be earned through Jordan Estate Rewards, a frequent buyers' program. A remarkable indulgence, with top-notch but unintrusive service and views worth capturing and taking home with you. The ideal special occasion destination.

Treat yourself to a unique and unforgettable experience at Jordan Winery in the Alexander Valley Region of The Beautiful California Wine Country!
Recently, my never-ending sense of adventure and passion for amazing food and wine led me to Jordan Winery in Sonoma County for one of the most amazing experiences of my life! The breathtaking views of the vineyards, majestic mountains, rows of gorgeous vines bourgeoning with healthy grapes ready for harvest were more beautiful that I ever expected. Lisa Mattson, Communications Director for Jordan Vineyard &Winery, invited me to experience the Farm-To-Table Visitors Tour and have a wine and culinary adventure like I have never had before.

Allow me to give you a glimpse of the tour as seen through my eyes and palate.

I want to share with you what it means to embrace The Wine Country and nature’s gifts of elegance and beauty that it has to offer and hope that you will enjoy my adventure through my eyes and palate of what I saw and tasted!

Jordan winery is a beautiful estate located in the Alexander Valley. The estate tour and tasting is meant to be a very special experience. The tour does not disappoint. It costs $120.00 per person, and is limited to 12 people. The tour lasts for 3 hours and is meant to be a food and wine paring experience. Our tour guide was Claire Smith. Claire is very knowledgeable and extremely courteous. Claire is the best tour guide that I have experienced in a long time.

When the tour begins you will convene on the patio and enjoy fresh scones, infused water, and fresh orange juice, while all of the members of your group convene. You are then taken inside their winery for a guided tour. You will see massive wood primary fermentation tanks, stainless steel fermentation tanks used for Chardonnay production, and barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon immaculately stacked on racks.

Once the winery tour concludes, you board a Mercedes Benz van specially designed for the tour. Our driver George, was courteous and gracious. You will go out into the vineyard and stop at the Chefs fresh vegetable garden. On the right side you will see some Texas Long Horn cattle, a couple of new born calf's, two miniature donkeys, and chickens. The winery uses the fresh produce, and eggs in their dining experiences at the Chateau. You are given ample time to walk the grounds while Claire explained what produce was in the garden. On the upper edge there is a beautiful array of Pink Roses that smelled heavenly. The garden consists of the usual tomatoes, string beans, spinach, asparagus, etc. In addition, they have some fig trees, and persimmon trees. We were given an opportunity to sample some of the fresh figs. There definitely is a taste difference of the fresh figs. Not overly sweet. Just perfect. Great with Goat Cheese.

After our visit to the garden, we went to a location called Seven Oaks. On the left side, there is a small lake. They have built a platform out into the lake so you can enjoy the magnificent views. When we were there, there was a flock of ducks enjoying the water. To the right was our first food and wine tasting. Each guest had a box which contained three food samples produced from the fresh produce on the estate. The host poured Jordan Estate dipping olive oil onto a dipping tray. Fresh bread was provided for dipping. We had two bottles of Jordan Chardonnay.
One bottle was from the 2010 vintage and the other from the 2011 vintage. The idea was to see how well the wines matched with food, and to observe how an older vintage improves in flavor. Excellent pairing.

From Seven Oaks we proceeded to Vista Point, which resides at the highest peak on the Estate, providing outstanding panoramic views. This area can be windy, so they built a pavilion containing sliding glass doors on all sides. Fortunately the wind was not bad when we were there so the doors were wide open. At this location we were provided with a wooden box containing samples of miso glazed beef, Sonoma aged brie with truffles, and two other cheeses selected from local producers. The samples were paired with a 2002 and 2012 Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon. The objective was to show how aging impacts the flavor profile of the wine. We than proceed back to the Chateau, where we were provide a special package in appreciation for coming to their Chateau. It was a attractive package containing the latest issue of their magazine Jordan Estate Tales, and a cute little brown candy box that contained pamphlet describing the tour, a menu card describing the foods that were served, and a small glass vile containing a herb finishing salt. The herbs were grown in the garden dehydrated, blended and bottled with a cork stopper in their kitchen. Nice personal touch and a perfect example of the wineries commitment to hospitality.

This is an experience that should not be missed. Unlike most wineries, their samplings are generous. Jordan also has solar panels on the property. At this time the solar panels provides 80% of the estates needs. With plans to go 100% in the future. What a great idea. Total sustainability. If you want an experience to remember, don't hesitate to book this awesome tour.

We have visited Jordan twice in the past year. The grounds are beautiful and the tasting is very upscale. I feel like I should use my "good manners" when I am here! The wines are very good and we enjoy the food/wine pairing. Their olive oil is as good as the wines. If you are wanting to impress friends or family make sure you include Jordan during the visit.
