In an area where it's hard to find a bad meal, Chef Jesse and his team knock the dining experience out of the park. The flavors, presentation and wine pairings made this an experience I will never forget. Don't miss this.

“Lots of Courses”
Reviewed 19 January 2014

This was my birthday dinner for this year. My husband and I had the Chef's Grande Dame Menu with the wine pairing to share. This menu includes 10 courses and many small tastes from the chef. The menu was very good, but the tiny tastes were just an intrusion rather than a compliment to the menu. I could review each course which were just right in size, considering the extent of the menu. The caviar with creme fraiche was lovely, but not a crouton in sight and the gel under it was not good. A stand out was the gift from the chef Foie gras wrapped in a crispy beet sliver and the lovely wine accompanying it. Unfortunately my husband became sick before the meal ended. Altogether a very nice meal, but i don't think I will be going back.

“Great place, average food”
Reviewed 1 January 2014 via mobile

We came for New Year eve dinner. The place was well decorated and the service impeccable.

A five course tasting menu was offered with surcharges for the better choices. Additional tastes were offered in between courses. Overall, we found the food to be ostentatiously presented, but without memorable flavors. The beef main course was an exception as the beef was well aged, flavored and cooked to perfection. At the other end was the desert of apple cake, a plate with a few rough pieces of cake that looked like kitchen leftovers. In between there were small bites of mostly forgettable dishes.

“Not quite a WOW”
Reviewed 28 December 2013

The restaurant is situated in an imposing mansion just out of Healdsburg and was a bit gaudily lit up for the holidays. Inside, dinner is served in different, elegant, Victorian rooms - ours had four tables. It was empty when we arrived which was odd because when we asked if we could arrive even fifteen minutes early were told no - we would not be seated. However the service throughout was impeccable (and our room did fill up). The restaurant offers a five course dinner and a nine course tasting menu. We had the former. There are not a lot of choices within each course and some of them come at a premium. One understands extra for caviar, but of the three offerings in the fourth course two were beef - a tenderloin (which was excellent) and a wagyu beef at a premium. And two of the three desserts were chocolate - one at a premium. There were three amuse-bouches before the first course, one of which (a foam served in an eggshell) was a highlight of the meal. We didn't find the first course (seared mackerel) special, the agnolotti was very good, and the sea urchin really special. There were more "bites" between each course most of which were were interesting. The only mis-step, we thought, was a sweet lemon ice served before the beef. At $91 for all of this it doesn't seem overpriced at all. Yet we still felt the overall experience was not such that we can't wait to come back. When Cyrus was in Healdsburg we did feel that.

“Absolute Perfecton”

We went there for their Dickens Christmas Dinner, but anytime of the year will result in a memorable dining experience. One of the most expensive restaurant in the area but worth every $$$. Where else can you have ice cream make at your table?
