It was New Years Eve, so the reader should take that into account when reading this review. First of all the service was terrible. The first two courses were almost clandestinely delivered to our table by two young servers who said nothing, literally. No charm, no warmth. And, these two dishes came within minutes of our ordering, before our wine had been poured. The beet salad with red grapefruit, avocado, and fennel was tasty but overdressed. A full quarter of a cup of vinaigrette remained in the bowl after my husband and I ate the salad. The dungeness crab tater tots were an ingenious, playful dish that tasted good but a bit much for just the two of us. A shot of bland butternut squash soup had a bit compressed apple that tasted like candied fruit to me, an ingredient I dislike. When our server delivered the fiore di mare, a poorly-conceived dish of crab, shrimp, cauliflower, and breadcrumbs, she asked us if we wanted clean plates, an odd request for a restaurant of this reputation. The ingredients in the fiore were fresh and well prepared but as a whole the dish didn't work for me. Overall, the restaurant was a huge disappointment.
