I must preface my review by disclosing that I am a bit of a craft beer aficionado. I take every opportunity to sample limited release, small batch, and local brews. I have had Bear Republic's "Racer 5" before, and was not disappointed, but also wasn't highly impressed. I would consider it a session IPA, but that's my taste.
We came here fresh off a highly disappointing visit to another well known brewery. I callled ahead to ensure that the wait was not unreasonable. Kelsey told me that there was no wait and she would take my name and assured me that when I arrived, she would have a table waiting. We got there 45 minutes later and found that the place was full, but not packed. I saw Kelsey at the hostess station and greeted her. She remembered me and immediately took us to a table. We were greeted by our server a short time later (I think his name was Mike, but I may be wrong). Mike impressed me with his knowledge of their brews and was able to give his personal impression of the ones that I asked about in an articulate way.
I had 3 different brews, while my fiance had water (she's not as much of a beer fan as I am, and someone had to drive back!) We had appetizers to eat since we had already eaten dinner. The brews were fantastic! What made it especially noteworthy to a beer fan like me, was that Mike was spot on with his reviews and recommendations. I thoroughly enjoyed my beers and the food, but more importantly, the service and atmosphere.
I will certainly return to Bear Republic every time I find myself in the area, and I will wear my Bear Republic t-shirt with pride as I sip fine brews from my Bear Republic glass.
Thanks to the staff for a wonderful evening, well done and I'll see you again soon!
