“Our best winery visit and tour”
Reviewed 5 October 2011

We had a wonderful tour and tasting of Quivira's wines. We scheduled our tour well in advance. As it turned out, there were just three of us on the tour. We walked through the vineyards sampling each variety of grapes and understanding the different characteristics before our tasting of the finished wines.

The thing that is unique about Quivira - apart from our wonderful guide - is their ability to produce excellent wine in a biodynamic manner. No fertilizers, insecticides, etc - all natural and produced on the property. And the results speak for themselves. This is a fantastic tour that helps you learn about the future of wine - and provides a great chance to sample some of the best wine in Russian River Valley.

“Charming Organic Winery - Terrific Staff”
Reviewed 9 May 2010

What a discovery we found driving along West Dry Creek Road near Healdsburg in Sonoma County. Not like the industrial style big names, Quivira has a roadside appeal and neatness, and most important everyone there seems to be delighted that you stopped in. A beautiful and scenic patio is ideal for creating a picnic on the spot. The tasting room serves up some incredible wines, the Zin and Sauvignon Blanc were my favorites. My wife liked the the Rose Grenache. We purchased a bottle along with some cheese from the store and enjoyed a picnic lunch before moving on.
The staff explained the organic certification process and even took us on a tour of the vineyard to show us a 30 ton pile of composting trimmings and other organic material to be used for nourishing the vines. Farm animals abound including Rosey the pig in a pen feeding on offered acorns. This winery will be one we will certainly return to on our next trip to Sonoma County. The area makes you feel as if you have discovered a place that is yet unfettered by the commercial circus of Napa.

“attentive staff”
Reviewed 30 June 2007

A beautiful location to sip wine and learn. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable. No wine snobs on the staff here! The rose wine is awesome. I never thought I would write that. Rose is supposed to be what old ladies drink, right? Wrong. While I was here some locals came in to pickup a few bottles for dinner that night. I think all the wines were great here and the view is fantastic. I couldn't help but watch the hummingbirds attack some flowery bush outside the window. It was really cool.

“Dry Creek Valley Treasure”
Reviewed 29 October 2006

Quivira was the name for the Spanish of a place in the new world where gold could be found. You may not find any gold at this place, but you sure do find some superior wines. The owner is a collector of ancient maps, and has some on display there. Maps and charts dating back to 16th and 17th century mariners.

Finely crafted wine awaits you here. I loved the Rose, and the Zinfandel rules for the Valley was intact after tasting. Yummy!

Nice setting in the vineyard, great tasting room, very knowledgeable staff leads up to a great experience. They have many special events at the winery, and the day we were there, they had a Shakespeare play set for the evening.

Another gem on the West Dry Creek valley road.
