Owner description: Nestled in Healdsburg, the winery is in the heart of Sonoma’s wine country. There, we host daily wine tastings and weekend library wine & food pairings around our Family Tables. We also have a seasonal outdoor cafe on our terrace Fri-Sun at which we serve Mediterranean-inspired tapas with wines by the glass. Try your hand at a game of bocce in our shaded grove.

We visited Seghesio on a tip from somebody in the wine trade.

We were made to feel welcome, relaxed, happy + in control of our tasting destiny!

On show were an excellent range of single vineyard Zinfandel and obscure (for the region) Italian varieties. No whites were on offer thought it didn't matter - this is Zin country.

A personalised one on one in the cellar capped off the visit. Thanks Travis!

“Excellent and pricey”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 February 2013

Do you want to sample excellent wines, served in a lovely atmosphere by knowledgeable servers? Seghesio Family Vineyards is just the ticket. Seghesio has long been known for their top notch zinfandels (the RED ones), but we tried an amazing sangiovese called Venom. We would have purchased some, except that the price point was above our budget ($54), so we contented ourselves with two bottles of their almost-as-amazing Barbera. We loved this winery and would highly recommend it to red wine aficionados.

“An old friend, still a good option”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 December 2012

Without a doubt the best wine we have had in the last couple of years was a bottle of Seghesio Vineyards Sonoma Zinfandel we took to a barbecue last year, a bottle left from a trip to Seghesio almost 4 years ago. That Zin was full bodied, rich, and spicy, a perfect accompaniment to the Tri Tip our host prepared. We have been looking to replace that bottle, and see how the newer Seghesio offerings have progressed so a trip here was top of our list this time to Healdsburg.

Seghesio is so close to downtown Healdsburg it is almost a sin to not stop if you are in town. It was probably 3 minute drive from downtown, or 2 minute from our hotel. The tasting room is large and well appointed, the size necessary to handle the crowds when we were there on Dec 23rd. It was pouring rain, so we could not avail ourselves of the picnic grounds but the fire inside and the warm hospitality warmed our spirits.

We came for the Zin, but was the Sangiovese hiding under the name 'Venom' that is the current star of the lineup of young wines available at the tasting room. The 'Venom' is more akin to a Brunello than to other Sangiovese styles such as Chianti; it will be interesting to see how the wine matures. Our pourer was informative and provided a personal touch despite the hectic nature of the pre-Christmas rush in the tasting room. Definitely great wines, and a nice place to visit. Next time we need better weather so we can picnic on the grounds!

“Treated like family!”

We had the most delightful time at Seghesio. I recommend this winery to anyone doing wine tasting in Healdsburg. The staff and owners are extremely friendly. We even got invited to the kitchen upstairs for a bite to eat and to sample some extra wines. We loved it so much our friends that were will us joined the wine club. We left with 2 cases and can't wait to sample some of them.

Seghesio offers some italian varieties you don't find at most wineries. They also have half bottles!

My wife and I went to the winery for lunch at the family table.

We really enjoyed the tour of the place and the stories of the family.

The food pairing and the wines were really good.

I am a big fan of the family and their wines.

I highly recommend this winery!!
