We greatly enjoyed our tasting. We would not have known about this winery but for the concierge at Hotel Healdsberg who recommended we stop by. We greatly enjoyed the tour, the tasting inside the cave and seeing the egg. We particularly enjoyed the reds and Nicole's proprietary blend. A very nice, private intimate experience.
We signed up for a tour and tasting. We expected it to be a tour, The tour consisted of walking from the tasting room to the cave and then sitting in the tasting room in the cave. I would not consider this a tour of a winery, thus the cost and experience should not be billed as a tour and tasting. The wine was fine but the hostess was dull and seemed to have no interest in her job or customer service. I would not waste the time or money visiting here again, nor recommend it.
Recommended by local Inn as quaint winery with excellent wines and huge personality (gave them feedback which they said they would look into). Our wine guide told us all about the other 14 winery's and restaurants the owner had concerns in. Couldn't answer questions about wine...very corporate feel to tasting and wine cave (chairs stacked up in corner). $80+ wine worth $40-. Many other wonderful wineries in Healdsburg with passionate staff. Don't waste your time.
I'm fairly familiar with California cabs, but had not heard of Lancaster Estate before. A tour & tasting were recommended by several people to us, but none were available when we were free. While admiring a photographer's works at his Healdsburg gallery, he mentioned his son was the wine maker at Lancaster. A half hour later we were treated to an extensive & free tour & tasting. All grapes are grown & bottled on the property. I enjoyed all the cabs, especially the 2008. The aging & tasting cave, built into the side of a hill was unique & apparently available for private events. The young woman guide was wonderful, very friendly & informed. Not in any hurry for us to buy or leave. Would highly recommend this winery & it's outstanding limited production cabernets.
Thank you to the staff for being so friendly and allowing us to taste after our recommendation from Chalk Hill. We are looking forward to carrying your wines at our wine bar.
After the previous day wine tasting in Napa, we were reluctant to be at our 10:30am appointment. And yet, once we arrived on property, we were very glad to be there. From the beautiful cave to the spectacular wine, we had no other choice but to drive off with smiles on our faces and wine in our hands. Kelly was very knowledgeable and took great care of us!
