“A very convenient small inn”
Reviewed 15 February 2014

The Healdsburg Inn is a very convenient and comfortable place to stay. Its location right on the plaza makes it ideal for walking to the shops and restaurants in downtown Healdsburg. This is not a full service hotel, and does not pretend to be. The room we had was very comfortable and the breakfasts are fine. There is complimentary wine in the afternoon. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is on-street parking for three hours during the day from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. This means your car is safe from 3:00 pm until noon the following day. Anybody who has trouble with parking should not blame the inn but themselves.

Room Tip: Try and get a room overlooking the plaza.

We spent our anniversary here - arrived at almost 8:00 at night the day before (they close the lobby at 8:00 unless you make prior arrangements) and they even called us to check if we would arrive before 8:00.
Room was great and the staff was very helpful - even provided discount coupons for numerous places.
The Inn is located on the town square, so shops and restaurants are right outside your door.
The winter special is also very nice - I highly recommend this place.

Our room was cute with original brick walls. The location is perfect right on the plaza. The fireplace was only electric so that was disappointing. The bed was comfortable but the pillows weren't.
The breakfast was good and the staff was very helpful.

We booked for one night at Healdsburg Inn based on a very positive experience we had last spring at another "Sisters" Inn in Dana Point. We were not disappointed. The Inn had an attractive winter package with afternoon wine and a real breakfast, and the rooms were exactly as advertised. The Inn gave us a complimentary upgrade in advance to a second floor King room without our asking, so that another couple we were traveling with could be next to us- a thoughtful touch. Upon check in the desk clerk showed us personally to our rooms, another nice touch. For location, value, friendliness of staff and quality of rooms this was a great choice for a midwinter break.

This Inn is right across from the square in downtown Healdsburg and within walking distance to 95% of the restaurants in the town. The rooms are large and the staff is as pleasant, and helpful, as you will find. All in all a great value. Breakfast, and wine in the afternoon, are included in the rate.

Will return. Great place and well worth the price. Beautiful town, hotel and some wonderful restaurants in the area. Lots of wine tasting locations and great shopping. You should spend more than one day. Too much to do.

Overall our stay was very nice. All the employees we came in contact with were very pleasant, we inquired about a parking permit upon check in, we were explained in great detail the space we were allowed to park in, the parking permit we needed to display etc. The cost was $10 per day which was very reasonable since the parking directly near the hotels is limited to 3 hours & $20 was better than gambling on getting a parking ticket. My only negative experience was at the complimentary wine hours that we decided to stop in on Sunday. We entered the area around 5:15 & were greeted by one of the staff who invited us to help ourselves to the food that was placed out for everyone to help themselves to. We inquired how the wine service was handled, did we help ourselves or was there someone who would pour the wine. He explained that there was a wine server & that she would be with us shortly, pointing to a woman who was speaking w/a couple at another table. She at no time acknowledge us once we sat down & after listening to her hard selling the couple on purchasing the wine she was pouring, going into pricing, discounts on larger bottle sales, etc. we all of a sudden realized that this complimentary wine hour was anything but, it was an opportunity for this person to sell wine. We didn't stick around for the sales pitch. Certainly understand if a wine source is going to sponsor this hour that they'd like to get the word out about their wines, maybe having a hand out that says where their wine tasting room is located, even including the prices on the handout, but to do a verbal hard sell when people are paying to stay at the hotel and are under the assumption this is a perk makes what we witnessed a bit distasteful. That experience aside, our stay was quite enjoyable. We did have a room facing out onto the plaza which was lovely to enjoy as you were sipping wine & relaxing after a day of walking around town. Of course at 7:45 a.m. on Monday when the lawnmowers started up to cut the grass surrounding the plaza area we were not so pleased, but definitely something out of the control of the inn.

Room Tip: If you want a room with a view call & inquire if this available for the period you plan to stay...

Many thanks for sharing your comments regarding your recent stay with us. I was so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your visit as our staff takes great pride in ensuring that every guest receives the ultimate in service and comfort.

I was most disheartened to hear of your experience during our complimentary wine and
hors d’oeuvres evening. We invite guest pourers, from local wineries, into the inn to enrich our guests’ stay while in wine country, certainly not as a vehicle to sell their product and I sincerely apologize for any discomfort or frustration you felt. Please rest assured that we have taken this matter extremely seriously and the situation you encountered will not occur again.

I am certain that we can earn back your trust and look forward to welcoming you back to Healdsburg Inn on the Plaza.

Warmly,
Kristen Ervin
