Best Western Dry Creek Inn
Ranked #5 of 9 Hotels in Healdsburg

Healdsburg is a wonderful town, but it suffers from a lack of affordable accomodations. This hotel is an exception, however. The prices are very reasonable (if you come in the off-season, you can get a rate as low as $79/night), but the hotel delivers far more than the minimum at this price point. The hotel is divided into two sections, the Tuscan building (which is new) and the Vintage building (which is old). We were only able to get a room in the Vintage building. As other reviewers pointed out, the rooms on this end are somewhat drab in decor, but they are clean and nice otherwise. Furthermore, the bedding is superb--The quality of the mattress and sheets well exceeded what you usually get in high end chains like Hyatt, etc.

The location is superb if you are into wineries, very close to Ridge Lytton Springs, Seghesio, Unti, etc. It's also a very short drive or a very long walk to the restaurants and Healdsburg Square in downtown.

The hotel has many nice touches--two small pools and two jacuzzis, a sauna, exercise room, a gazebo, make-your-own-waffles at breakfast, freshly baked cookies in lobby, etc. I believe that they do complimentary wine tastings on weekdays (the day before we arrived it was Seghesio, which is a great winery), and they had free passes for tasting at another local winery in the lobby. The staff, in our limited experience, was friendly and accomodating. At every point where the hotel could have cut corners, they instead added something extra.

Keep in mind that, even with all the 'Tuscan' decor, this still has the feel of a motel. You'll be disappointed if you come expecting the Four Seasons. This is a well-managed and well-priced hotel that attracts a pretty diverse clientele, not an upscale boutique hotel that caters to the 1% (for that, go to Hotel Les Mars).

Room Tip: In high season, book through Costco travel to avoid 2-night minimum stay

The Dry Creek Inn proved to be a very good choice during our visit to River Rock Casino and the charming town of Healdsburg.
Our rooms were quite large, very clean and comfortable. A breakfast is included and it is more than the limited continental breakfast one usually finds.

Room Tip: Try for a room not facing toward the freeway. Freeway can be noisy.

We loved our stay. To be honest, we got a special rate. The room was large and well appointed. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was fine, not anything special but it did the job. We'd happily stay at the Dry Creek Inn again and may use it for a special occasion later this year.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!! This hotel has charged me $500.00 for smoking in their room when I did not smoke in the room. Because I signed for the deposit, and because one person said the room smelled like smoke, I have no way of proving this charge is false!!! I am a college educated person who would have booked a smoking room if I was planning on smoking in a hotel room. I would never have approved a 500.00 deposit if I did not think for one minute that I would not be getting it back. I am a women who has been scammed out of a lot of money by a powerful corporation, I will never in my life do business with Best Western again. The hotel and all the staff have been rude to me when trying to deal with this matter!! DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!

We usually start off all negative reviews with an apology for an event or occurrence where the hotel errored and the guest were not satisfied. However, this is not the case here. This is simply as case of a particular guest who decided not to follow the policies set up by the hotel for the rental of a guest room.

The guest made a reservation at our hotel on March 24, 2012 for a non smoking king size room, scheduled to arrive on April 11, 2012 for one night. This reservation was made directly with Priceline through Best Western and was confirmed to the guest.

Upon check in on April 11, 2012 the guest signed the registration which reaffirmed she would have a non-smoking room. On the registration card itself the terms and conditions set forth for the use of the non-smoking room are quite clear. The guest agreed to these terms and conditions, by signing the registration card. In addition, clearly visable on the guest room entrance door is a non smoking sign indicating the room type that the guest rented.

At check out time on April 12, 2012 the hotel Front Desk Manager was notified by the Executive Housekeeper that the room this guest had rented was smoked in. Since, we do take these matters quite seriously we have specific procedures in place to deal with these type of situations. Our standard procedure is to have at least two management personnel available too inspect the room, prior to charging the guest a smoking fee. Therefore, the Executive Housekeeper and Front Office Manager were present to inspect the room. Both individuals confirmed the smell of smoke in the room, which had not been there the prior day when the room was cleaned.

Unfortunately, due to the fact the room was smoked in, we had to post a $500.00 smoking fee to the guest, in order to put the room back into the condition it was prior to it being smoked in.

We have had several conversations with this guest, but have been unable to reach a reasonable solution.

We dispute this guests claim that she was scammed in any way. Our hotel is simply following the terms and conditions which the guest agreed to when renting our room. We firmly believe the smoking charge is valid. No one is being scammed.

Thank you for taking the time to read our response.

Sincerely,

Stayed in the upgraded Tuscan wing~ large room with balcony, large bath with jetted tub; very clean and comfy bed, fireplace. Easy to get to off 101 and convenient to wine tasting throughout the Sonoma region and the Russian River Valley. Hospitable/friendly/professional staff. Nice continental breakfast area if you don't want to go out for breakfast (cereal, hot waffles, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, juice, microwave breakfast sandwich). Close to the center of town but would probably drive. Very, very close to Seghesio Winery- don't miss it! You could walk there.

Room Tip: Definitely go for the upgrade to the Tuscan wing- well worth it!

First time to wine country and after online searching for days for that "perfect" place to stay, Dry Creek Inn was recommended by a wine buyer friend who had stayed there many times before. While not in the middle of Healdsburg, this Inn is a short drive to the downtown. Staying in the "new" section is a must. Many upgraded features including whirlpool tub, fireplace and walk-in shower plus flat-screen TV. The room price was exceptional and the staff very helpful. Continental breakfast was above par. This is a great place to "stay", but is not for those prefer to spend their money on "image" and pay for the "elegant" places in downtown Healdsburg. Save your money and spend it on food and wine!

Our stay at the Dry Creek Inn was wonderful. We were warmly greeted by professionals at the front desk where we were given information about the area, restaurants and sights to see.
Our room was ready, clean and fully stocked with towels and toiletries. I mention that because we arrived much earlier than the check time and they promptly accommodated us.
Breakfast room was clean, neat, organized and well cared for by the staff.
We loved the piazza area and enjoyed sitting and chatting or just reading the newspaper. The experience was so good that we extended our stay by two days.
I do have one comment regarding the room coffee pot and lack of a microwave. The coffee pot does not keep the coffee hot at all even when freshly brewed and then there is no microwave to heat it up. Being very early risers we enjoy our first cup of coffee in the room, so this was a negative.
We enjoyed our stay and will return for another visit as well as recommend the hotel to our friends. Mary Kay and Dale

Room Tip: Tuscan rooms are the best.
