“Great start to our wine country visit!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2014

Hotel is very conveniently located off of Hwy 101 in North Sonoma Valley. Tuscan looking building with nice interior gardens, 2 pools with a small resort feel. Front desk staff very friendly and provided a wine map of the area which we found to be very helpful. NIce rooms, clean with comfortable bed. Complimentary breakfast provided in a nice breakfast room with hot and cold items and kept well stocked. There is an outside fire pit to sit around in the evening which was wonderful on a lovely night. An easy drive into the downtown area with very nice shops and restaurants and a nice park. We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here on a Tuesday and Wednesday night end of May 2014, in room 302, vintage building.
Check in was easy and off to room. The rooms are numbered strange, all odd on one side of the building and all even on the other, slightly confusing.
I loved the room, 2 queen beds, outside vanity and sink. Toilet did flush slow...
This hotel had 2 pools, 3 hot tubs, a steam room and a sauna. Free breakfast with extras like Waffles, pancakes, eggs, bacon or sausage. Plenty of inside and out side sitting.
We had a problem with ants on our table and someone came right up and took care of it. The public bathroom by the office was filthy and out of tp, I told them in the lobby and someone was right there to fix it.
I would stay here again. Loved it!
Carrie

Room Tip: We had room 302 and liked it. Stairs nearby and elevator on other side of the building but easy walk...

We were not at all happy with this hotel. Not one bit. Well, not quite true. There was water with lemon in the lobby cooler which was perfect. And the bed was  okay although a couple of otger people in our large wedding party thought their beds were way too hard or too soft.  Bottomline: the rooms are pure ugliness. The furniture is at least two decades old and brown and klutzy and not at all inviting. There are NO closets. The bathroom sink is not in the bathroom, but at the back of the bedroom. There's a rod for clothes just a foot away (be careful not to splash!). There is no place for shoes. All in all, the furniture doesn't just look tired, it is falling apart. We had a soiled chair with the foam cushioning oozing out  from a hole in the back of the chair. Who would want to sit in that chair or even hang a sweater on its back? Right beside it was an air conditioner unit that was dusty and embedded with dirt and with the remains of dead insects. Who wanted  to even touch it? The lamps on the night table were so dusty I could write my name on them. The room was extremely dark. Originally I got another room facing the main road. I changed it because it was way too loud. The rugs are worn and look dirty although they may have been vacummed.  The curtains were faded and old and falling off the hooks on top. The bathroom with its tub and toilet is big enough for those two things plus a bit of room leftov for one adult body -- very uncomfortble. I live in Europe and travel a lot. A hotel like this with room rates  like this in a comparable, chic, European resort center would be out of business in a heartbeat. I think the hotel should be embarrassed. Europeans and anyone else used to clean hotels with a halfway decent sense of style should stay asay from this best western.

Dear Trip Advisor Past Guest:

Thank you for completing a review regarding your recent stay at our property.

On behalf of our entire team, I would like to apologize for not meeting or exceeding your expectations. Your satisfaction is important to us and we will be using the feedback you gave us to implement improvements to ensure we offer a better experience for guests in the future.

In reading your comments, it appears you had a room in our original Vintage building, which we are in the process of renovating. Within the next few months we should be complete with this process, as we are replacing all the carpets, installing granite counter tops, new furniture, and a privacy door separating the bedroom from the vanity area. I regret you had a room that has not been completed yet. We would have been more than happy to upgrade you to another room or to our Luxury Tuscan building if it was available. Our Luxury Tuscan rooms all have fireplaces, jetted tubs, private balconies, double granite sinks, an upgraded amenity package and more. These rooms are truly lovely.

Since, our hotel is located in the Sonoma Wine County, we are a very popular weekend tourist destination. Our rates are priced very competitively for accommodations, as compared to the other hotels in Healdsburg charging rates starting at $400 and higher on a weekend evening. During the midweek time period our hotel offers discounted room rates starting at under $100 per night.

I am sorry you felt our hotel was a dump. The majority of our guests absolutely love our hotel and its location. This is further reinforced by both Best Western and AAA who combined inspect our hotel three times a year. These inspections have found our hotel to be well within there guidelines, in all areas including cleanliness and maintenance.

Once again, I regret your experience at our hotel was far below expectations. This certainty is not the kind of experience we want our customers to go away with.

Your comments are most appreciated and we will use them to improve our hotel operations.

If I can provide any assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me again.

Sincerely,

Aaron S. Krug

We picked up a cheap room here in an internet deal. We were mostly looking for a reasonably priced place for memorial day and our designated driver had picked here. Town was an easy 1 mile walk to some great restaurants (see separate reviews of Bravas Tapas and Spoon Bar).

Overall no real complaints - very standard Best Western style hotel, not bad, not great. Fairly expensive though (Memorial Day weekend?).

Great spot if you have a driver and are doing the wineries in the area! Worse case stumble up the road to Seghesio which is around the corner.

Room Tip: I hear the tuscan wing is the nicer part of the hotel

My friend and I stayed here for one night during a wine country swing. It was a great base of operations for us. Close enough to jaunt to many wineries by bike or car, and close enough to walk into downtown Healdsburg. We stayed in a room in the Tuscan wing and the room was spacious and very well appointed. Very comfortable bed, and even better, the hot tub was just outside our backdoor in the courtyard! We took to calling the hotel the "Best Best Western" during our stay there!

Purchased 3 nights in the Tuscan wing through Travel Zoo. The room was obviously recently remodeled and was very nice. It had a jetted tub, large bathroom, comfortable bed and a balcony. The property had two pools and 3 hot tubs. My wife also enjoyed the sauna. The restaurant in the same lot, Adels was fantastic and very reasonably priced. Enjoyed the trip. We went to Bodega Bay one day, thrift stores another, and the Indian casino another.

This hotel was nice. Not great but not bad. We stayed two nights in The Tuscan wing but I don't know that it was worth double the price of the rooms in the older wing. It was within walking distance to town but we were under the impression it was closer than it was. Many people who don't walk often or who are not sure footed or who have consumed too much vino, will find it too far and the sidewalks a bit uneven. The breakfast they serve each morning was good and filling and the coffee and tea service was available 24/7.
The staff was nice but didn't go out of their way to please.
I'm on the fence as to whether or not I'd stay again, and we come up a couple of times a year, so we were looking for a great little place to return to.
