We had been to Chef Melba's a few years ago when visiting SoCal and had enjoyed it quite a bit. So we were very pleased to see that it's still open and going strong when we visited last weekend. The only downside to this restaurant is that parking can be a free-for-all with the beach and Strand action. However, once inside Chef Melba's, it's a lovely little oasis with carefully prepared food, knowledgeable service and a simple, but good, wine list. We enjoyed the conch popcorn appetizer, a salad, very light cod fish and chips, and a fish stew. No room left for dessert, but the list was tantalizing. Highly recommended, especially if you like seafood.
