The Grand Idyllwild Lodge
Ranked #1 of 9 Idyllwild B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 22 July 2014

This gracious bed and breakfast is a treasure in the mountains of Idyllwild. It’s owned and run by an exceptionally conscientious young couple who have poured their energy and love into this nine-month-old inn, that could easily be featured in Architectural Digest. Brad built the inn from the ground up, including the tile, rock formations, and water feature. The inside is just as beautiful, especially the dramatic windows that capture the gorgeous outdoors from so many directions. There are only 5 spacious suites, each with its own name and uniquely, luxurious rustic style. Jacki decorated each room with class! The enthusiastic couple is justifiably proud of creating such a first class retreat!

It felt like home (a gorgeous one) when we’d return at the end of the day, with the warm welcome we got from the owners and the enthusiasm from the guests, who were all as thrilled as we were with the inn. Jacki cooks healthy, delicious gourmet breakfasts on the weekends (with Brad's help) and “continental breakfasts” (more options than anticipated) during the week.

While this is designed as a retreat, there’s free wifi and Directv for those who want to keep in touch. We’ve been to some great getaways, but this inn was a standout!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are great!

We stayed here in July for a long weekend and loved every minute of it. We had the Harmony room, which from the looks of pictures might have been a bit smaller than others, but made up for it with a more private balcony and better view than most other rooms.

It wasn’t as homey as some Bed and Breakfasts we’ve been to (fine by me), but far more personal than a hotel, and therefore struck a perfect balance for us. The breakfast was good quality, and the reception at night was pleasant, with varying degrees of social activity each night we were there (one night it was just us, another it was a mini-cocktail party, another night we had a conversation with Brad for an hour).

It’s pretty conveniently located near town. I think it took us 20 minutes or so to walk that distance, although from town back to the lodge is uphill, and going back may take a few minutes longer. We found the walk pleasant to burn off some of the food…

There’s really no reason to stay anywhere else in town beyond cost. And if it’s close on cost, then take my word and everyone else’s on here and splurge. You won’t regret it.

It is impossible to overstate the beauty of this place. It's not just that it has magnificent views of the marvelous mountains surrounding it (although those views are superior), but the Lodge itself is a beauty in its own right and it is both compatible with and respectful of its location.
The entire facility simply shines with the care and professional pride the owners have invested in it (Brad literally built the place from the ground up). It is handsome, elegant, clean and polished and, everywhere, wide, spacious windows open to wide, spacious views.
The rooms -- we stayed in one but investigated several -- are beautiful. All are smartly appointed, well and thoughtfully decorated by Jacki (Jacky?), who has a sophisticated, thoughtful approach to decor. The public spaces are equally smart and stylish.
One minor glitch: The morning breakfast buffet was okay, but there was no decaf (and none in the mix of in-room coffee selections either).
One huge problem: The Lodge is such a delightful, wonderful creation that work and other obligations may be seriously threatened -- you will not want to leave.

Room Tip: If you can get it, the Harmony room has a balcony and view to die for. It also features a very nif...

I loved my stay at the Grand Idyllwild Lodge. I have been staying in Idyllwild for decades and this new B&B is by far the nicest in town. Brad and Jackie are also really wonderful to interact with. I will definitely return!!

The Grand Idyllwild Lodge is truly a special place in the mountains. Jacki and Brad built a beautiful inn surrounded by tall pines, fresh air and even visiting deer. One morning we took our coffee outside just to look at the beautiful scenery.
The inn is close to shops and yummy restaurants. The rooms are beautifully decorated and comfortable. There's a lovely sitting area in front of the fireplace. Breakfasts were fresh and delicious. We enjoyed the happy hour in front of the fireplace chatting with other guests and our hosts.
Our innkeepers were warm and welcoming and suggested great places to visit during our stay.
We look forward to returning in the future.

This Lodge is absolutely gorgeous. Peaceful and scenic, set among pines and indigenous plants. It has an arts and crafts feel and the decor is simple, elegant and lovely. I could have stayed fro a week! The rooms are spacious, comfortable and have a perfect aesthetic feel. The hosts offer wine in the early evening and some conversation, which makes you feel catered to and at the same time relaxed. Beautiful views, a lovely continental breakfast, delightful wind chimes and a simply gorgeous place to stay, what a wonderful get away! This alone is worth a trip to Idyllwild and visit Cafe Aroma for dinner, fabulous food!

Room Tip: Any room choice would not be a mistake, they are all lovely
