“Excellent location, Walk to Town.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 October 2011

Our stay at the Knotty Pines Cabins was very nice. The cabins sit on a beautiful piece of property, just a short walk to downtown shops and restaurants. We were able to look at several of the cabins and they were all very clean with all the ammeneties one would need for a stay in the mountains. The one we stayed in had a very nice porch to sit and relax after a long walk as well as a very nice fireplace. Firewood is available. The innkeepers were very nice and were able to answer any questions we had. We have stayed in several places in Idyllwild over the years. When we go back we will stay at Knotty Pines Cabins.

The price is affordable. The accomodations are not luxurios or anything, but sufficient and ordinary - maybe even a little old (even for a cabin). It would've been worth the night's rate IF there weren't black bugs (water bugs?) crawling on the bathroom floor (not pleasant when you're barefoot and you have to use the restroom in the middle of the night). Not to mention, I was chewed alive by mosquitos.

Not the worst place I've been to. I'd stay again... if I had to.

My wife and I thought the previous reviews were a bit exagerated, maybe from friends or family members, we don't think that way anymore, the owners were very down to earth the place was very clean, tidy, cozy and somewhat romantic.

We're used to going to big hotels, fancy and crowded, so we wanted to find a place that the two of us can enjoy without being bothered by the people next door or the maid knocking at your door, guess what?, we found a place in idelwyld, it is Knotty Pines...

  • Liked — No matter where I am I love to cook and the kitchen had enough supplies for me to cook a nice dinner for my wife.

Our stay in the Pinecone cabin at the Knotty Pine Cabins was very nice. The cabin was clean with a fully equipped kitchen. The natural setting of the cabins and their proximity to town is very convenient. Everyday after our hike I would recline on the cot outside the cabin to read while enjoying the sounds of nature and the water flowing from the nearby fountain.

  • Liked — Quaint cabin in the woods
  • Disliked — closet was in the bathroom

What a wonderfully charming place! If you want to take a step back in time, these lovely, well kept, very clean cabins built in the 1920's, 1930's and the the newest ones built in the 1940's are the place for you. Surrounded by well groomed, old growth grounds, there are individual cabins, best for one or two, duplexes, perfect for two couples to share and then the larger cabin that would accommodate a family. And they are pet friendly! You can bring your favourite four-legged along for a small charge. And as you would imagine, they are not allowed to be left alone in the cabin. In the owners description of the cabins, they are modest. The one we stayed in, The Pine Cone, was much more than we expected. It contained a main bedroom, a sitting room with a fireplace, a bath with a big closet for all your things and a full sized kitchen. It also had a front porch with table and chairs and a daybed for those leisurely afternoon book readings...or napping, as well as a porch in the back looking out into the forest. The yard also included a grill and picnic table to the side of cabin where we had breakfast along with the grey squirrels and scrub jays. And the cabins are a walk away from the "downtown" area. I highly recommend these cabins. Thank you, Sandy for your gracious hospitatlity and for all the work you've put into these cabins in keeping them just the way they they've always been...perfect.

  • Liked — No modernizations! Simple and clean.
  • Disliked — Nothing
