My daughter and I spent a day at Point Reyes National Seashore and wanted a reasonably priced, quiet place nearby to spend the night. We found the Motel Inverness, which turned out to be a hidden gem. The price was reasonable, the room was comfortable and adorable, the staff was friendly, and the setting - especially the deck overlooking Tomales Bay - was lovely.

We had one of the cheaper, smaller rooms. These rooms are entirely comfortable and well equipped. The bed was comfortable and the bedding good, as others have said. The point of the place is the lovely super large lodge, where you can store a few bits for breakfast, make yourself a coffee, play a game of pool, or have a drink on the deck of an evening. The board walk to the duck hide is lovely. If you weren't one before, you may come away as a birder. I went with my partner but I'd recommend it for lone travellers to as you end up saying hi to other guests in lodge. The innkeeper was very helpful and local information was readily available. All provisions + take away dinners and deli sandwiches can be bought at nearby Penny's. Point Reyes itself has several shops and eateries. All pretty good. It was a lovely place to have as a base while we were in the Point Reyes Tomales Bay area . I look forward to going back one day.

Stayed at the motel Inverness for two nights. great location on tomales bay and a great place from which to explore the Point Reyes National Seashore. Very cozy common area with fireplace and large deck with view over the bay. My room had a kitchen and a nice deck off the back. The deli/store about a mile away has everything you'd need. Hot dinners for take out or you can eat on some of the tables set up outside. I will definitely return.

It's been five years since our last visit, but Motel Inverness remains as special as ever. The linens may not be the highest quality and the furnishings are a tad dated, but the greeting is friendly, the rooms are clean, there are plenty of complimentary extras - biscotti, coffee, tea, fire laid out to be lighted in the communal lounge, binoculars to watch the birds on the bay, and the location is ideal. I've never before stayed in a motel with such a beautiful view. We stayed in the 2 bedroom/1 bathroom suite with kitchenette (very well outfitted) and it was perfect for our family of three.

Off the beaten path just outside Pt. Reyes Station, you'll find Motel Inverness. This charming inn was a surprise on several levels. Affordable with truly luxurious bedding in every guestroom. A large oversize lounge is a great gathering space. And the innkeeper, is completely attentive and helpful. Just minutes away from the delightful town of Pt. Reyes Station.

Room Tip: There are only a dozen rooms and each one has a great location.

I love this place but this year's visit was a bummer. The setting is on Tomales Bay--fabulous. The staff (Shannon & Melissa) very welcoming and the locale can't be beat (Point Reyes National Seashore). However the rooms are very small, lack telephones and internet connectivity. There is a lovely seating area with a fireplace and TV collocated with the front office. A dining table makes for a perfect dining-in with goodies from Perry's Delicatessen.

The difficulty this year occurred in the common seating area where staff, my wife, and myself were verbally attacked and bizarrely harassed repeatedly by an obviously troubled guest.

Such close quarters and interaction could be a contributing factor here; I'm inclined to avoid the possibility of this sort of disappointment recurring on our future trips to the area.

We stayed here for our first two nights in the States so we could chill before moving on. We had advised we would be late and arrangements had been made for our key.

We had the Great Egret suite so had a bedroom with table to eat at, kitchen and shower room. There was a deck outside with furniture.

The rooms were clean, the bed was comfortable and the shower was good. Only complaint in the bathroom was the usual lack of space to spread toiletries out. Everything in the kitchen worked and there was a full sized cooker for anyone wanting to stay for a while and self-cater. Good big fridge/freezer.

The view from the kitchen and deck was superb for scenery and birds and there is a hummingbird feeder at the kitchen window.

The innkeeper was lovely, friendly and helpful. Would recommend and we will visit again if we manage to get to the area again.
