As soon as you step off the resorts boat onto the main jetty, you are greeted like family.
Everyday you wake up you still cant believe you are there.
Service from the staff was outstanding, and the villa was by far amazing! The food was outstanding and easily catered for my dietry requirements.
They make their own chocolate on the island, and iver christmas made a huge gingerbread house! Also the whole New Years Eve night was brilliant! Tasting around the world food, around the island. My family certainly did enjoy it and I know the staff did too which made the experience even better.
We also enjoyed the snorkelling as we were lucky to see sea turtles. And my partner was able to do his advance diving course with no problem as the instructors were helpful and friendly; he also had a chance to see some Rays!
I would like to Thank all of them for making our holiday amaxing and would never forget it.

This was without a doubt the best beach holiday my husband & I have had. We had been to the Maldives once previously, and decided to try Soneva Fushi after a friend recommended it.

We loved the relaxed atmosphere of the island - our Man Friday took our shoes on the boat from the sea plane to the island, and when our bare feet touched the sand, it was bliss. It actually felt strange putting shoes back on when we had to leave!

Our Soneva Fushi villa was great - very spacious and private. The style is rustic chic, and you can tell a lot of thought has gone into kitting the villas out with anything you could possibly need. I particularly loved our outdoor bathroom and garden area.

The food on the island was amazing. The selection at breakfast was huge, and in the evening you had a choice of three restaurants, which is great as it means the guests are all spaced out on the island and it never feels like there is a lot of other people there. All the restaurants have a relaxed and casual atmosphere which we loved.

We had the dinner on the sandbank which I would recommend - the sandbank offers a perfect view of the sunset. We also did snorkelling ourselves off the house reef, and a few scuba dives too. The visibility and quantity and diversity of marine life was some of the best I have ever experienced. For the dives we were in a group size of 2-3 people + instructor which was great having that personal attension.

Getting around the island is either by foot or bike (or buggy if you need), and I loved cycling in the morning to the sunrise yoga class when not many people are around. I also highly recommend the spa.

Overall, it was a fantastic trip and I can see myself returning at some point in the future. It's a place great for couples and families alike.

This resort is worth a trip, it is expensive but you will not be disappointed! The place, the staff, the food, everything is better than you can imagine. We took boat trips for snorkeling with the resort marin biologist, even if we only were 4 people, they took us out on the reef. It was amazing! The house reef is very good, too. The marin biologist (Federica) was very nice and very helpfull and teaching us about the fish and the coralls.
We had a private sandbank dinner, the staff made every effort to make this a very special night for us. We tried their wine tasting and it was of very good quality. The island is very beautiful, the villas are not to be seen from the beach. You are not disturbed by neighbours. It takes about an hour to walk around the island. Don't bother to bring shoes, you walk barefoot for the whole stay! The observatory is amazing, the people working there will tell you all about the stars in the sky. It is not a place with golden taps, it is intelligent luxury as they call it! We have absolutely nothing bad to say about this place. We have never met friendlier staff, the chefs are very ambitious so the food is fantastic! Don't forget to bring an underwater camera!

Room Tip: Choose a villa on the sunrise side if you don't want to see an local island.

They call it intelligent luxury, and I did not really know what that meant until I arrived. Local, organic, sustainable, caring for the environment around them; all in the context of beautiful food, kind people and jaw dropping scenery. Soneva Fushi has all the essential ingredients of a 5 or 6 star resort, but you can tell they approach things from a different angle. I appreciated no news and no shoes; dressing to impress or being online 24/7. I left rejuvenated!

Soneva invented island chic and yet until last week, I'd never been to Soneva Fushi.
It was so much more than a hotel experience, it really needs a different category.
The food was stunning and incredibly fresh - the lovely breakfast Chef Sira somehow pluck's the world's best fruit from the middle of the Indian Ocean and then remembers what each guest likes after their first breakfast.
The service is second to none. General manager Laurie, and his team's attention to detail and relationship with their many repeat guests makes the whole place feel more like you've been invited to a big family knees up in paradise.
Thomas and the dive school team work in the world's best office - there really is no better place to view the marine world. The photos I took myself. No joke.
Soneva Fushi is simply incredibly special and it's no wonder that after 15 years they are still the best.

Having travelled to the Maldives for 7 years and stayed at 10 resorts, we decided it was time to visit Soneva Fushi. What an amazing experience! The long-serving staff which has resulted in magical attention to detail (Majid, Ayaaz, Rasheed etc etc), along with stand-out features such as a cheese, chocolate and icecream room, and wonderful yoga teacher (Pawan), made for the most memorable time. The wine-tasting dinner, a winner too! We'll see you same time, same place, next year i.e. this will be the first time we repeat a resort, and are looking forward to it already. Counting the days.....

Soleni Dive Centre- is onsite and are excellent. Our guide, Fabio, was outstanding. Beware that in the Maldives it is common practice to be charged a “boat rental fee” in addition to the charges for the diving. This makes it very expensive! Our 15yr old son completed Dive #100 and Dad completed DIVE #200 on this trip. What a great way to celebrate being in such a wonderful location! The boat and boat crew were excellent, some of the best we've ever had.
For some reason, I had an issue with air consumption on this trip, but Fabio made it great and didn't take away from the dive, as I just breathed from his octopus, and we had full 60min dives anyway. Other places will end the dive if someone is low, we really appreciated Fabio accommodating my thirst for air.
The diving itself was some of the best we've done. Mantas, mantas, everywhere, and even a whaleshark! (spotted by our fantastic boat captain! He got an extra tip for that one!) Beautiful soft coral and in excellent condition. We saw turtles, Napoleon wrasse, just about everything on the diver's wish list... The only downside, is that Soneva Fushi has set the benchmark pretty high, and we don't know how to top it...
Topside: Soneva Fushi- Wonderful resort! Used to be part of the Six Senses group. Food & accommodations were outstanding. The wine cellar was wonderful and we even had an evening of great wine tasting held in the very chilly cellar. They even provided us with fleece and blankets so we wouldn't get chilled while sampling fine wines.
A great character of SF is that everyone is given a bike and that is the transportation around the island. Our villa had a private pool, and was right on the sea. We had a beautiful view of the ocean. Make sure NOT to get a room on the side facing the local island. This view is very ugly, and you are looking at a radio tower.
The observatory was amazing! We spent 2 fascinating hours there one evening after dinner speaking to the astronomer, who was such a wealth of knowledge. ( Sorry, forgot his name) We saw the rings of Saturn and upclose the surface of the moon. Very cool!
We were also impressed by SF's attention to conservation and social responsibility. They have a full time conservationist on staff, Richard, who's job is to see oversea the resort's environmental practices.
I highly recommend Soneva Fushi! Not cheap, but one of the best holidays we’ve ever had.
SIMPLY MAGICAL!!

Room Tip: Stay away from the anything facing the local island. Apparently, these rooms are priced the same as...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
When Eva and Sonu Shivdasani built Soneva Fushi as well as their home on the deserted island of Kunfunadhoo in the Maldives in 1995 they had no idea that their intensely personal vision of a locally crafted villa and environmentally responsible lifestyle would form the basis of a successful collection of world-class hotels, resorts and spas. But that's exactly what happened. Soneva Fushi was the first 'castaway' resort in the Maldives, pioneering a trend for back-to-nature luxury holidays. It established a blueprint for a highly acclaimed international business, followed by spectacular Soneva Kiri on the unspoilt Thai island of Koh Kood in 2009. The success of the Soneva brand also paved the way for Six Senses Resorts and Spas with award-winning properties in Asia, the Middle East and Europe. Under Eva's and Sonu's direction the Six Senses brand gained a global following before being sold in 2012. Today the Sonevas have many imitators, but no equals. Each Soneva - and a yachting experience, Soneva in Aqua - impresses on a wide range of levels. Breathtaking 'remote but accessible' natural locations, effortlessly chic accommodation, incredible food, truly memorable activities, an inspiring ethos of sustainability and service that is uncannily intuitive. The resort that set the tone and the standards for every subsequent resort. A jewel of an island - large by Maldives standards - with perfect beaches, a vibrant reef encircling the island, a colony of nesting turtles and its very own world class observatory. Located in the Baa Atoll, Maldives' only UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, Soneva Fushi is blessed with extensive coral reefs and significant biodiversity including large concentrations of whale sharks, manta rays and marine turtles. The resort is perfect for romantic couple getaways, or family holidays as it provides unique experiences and activities for all, from diving and snorkelling with the marine biologist, to sandbank dinners and a children's den (playground). ... more   less
