Soneva Fushi is definitely one of the most amazing places we have ever been to and most things have already been mentioned earlier on TA (like the beautiful island, fantastic living arrangements and especially the interior that has been designed by the co-founder of Soneva Fushi, Eva, the friendly staff including “Mr Friday”, we had Zidane, who took very good care of us, the breakfast buffet including a fantastic variety of almost everything, etc. etc.).

Here are a few tips that we would have found helpful when planning our trip to Soneva Fushi:

The snorkeling is astonishing and it’s right on the beach. No need to bring snorkel equipment. If you are near sighted you can even get special goggles (up to 5.5) free of charge.

There is excellent tea and coffee making facilities in each cottage. In addition, apricots and nuts and raisins are provided free of charge.

One previous TA contributor pointed out something very useful to us: if you order a bottle of wine in one of the restaurants and don’t finish it, you can have the bottle brought to the restaurant where you are dining the next day (or the day after). This is useful since the wine is rather expensive.

Extensive in villa dining is available. When you have in villa dining (or if you dine in restaurant nine) you can order single dishes and you do not need to order a full menu (three dishes) or have a buffet dinner. We ordered almost every lunch from the In villa dining menu. This menu/possibility is not promoted very much at the resort.

Among the TA-contributors there has been a discussion which side of the island is best. We stayed on the sunrise side, which if anybody asked our advice, we would suggest, since there is no neighboring island close by. The other side of the island, however, has an amazing sun set.

The Six Senses Spa is very nice. The Balinese and Energizing massages with Jecky and Tri were wonderful. We briefly talked to the guy giving psychosynthesis therapy (??). We definitely would not recommend this treatment despite whether your “inner child” needs to come out or not.

The chocolate-, ice cream- and cheese rooms are open most of the day and evenings. There is a huge variety of wonderful flavors, types of chocolate and at least 20 or so different cheeses (mostly European).

Don’t miss the Observatory and the Cinema Paradiso. They are both great fun!

All in all, we have had a magical vacation at Soneva Fushi! It has definitely been the most relaxing vacation that we have ever had. It will be hard to top Soneva Fushi!

Room Tip: Sunrise side has no neighboring island close by.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your incredible review. I am thrilled to hear that we made it onto your list of ‘most amazing places’. I am delighted that you enjoyed the snorkeling at Soneva Fushi which is regarded by many as one of the best snorkeling sites in the Maldives. Our Food & Beverage Team were touched to hear that they had such an impact on your dining experiences. They are continuously developing new and exciting local, organic, wellness dishes to tempt the most discerning gourmet palette. I am very happy that you also tried our Spa. Jacky and Tri were thrilled to read your comments.

We hope you will return sometime soon to enjoy another magical stay with us.

Yours sincerely,

We chose Soneva Fushi as part of our 25th Wedding Anniversary celebrations. The experience of this resort starts in Male where we were met at arrivals by a pleasant man from Soneva who took our luggage and escorted us to a coach. After a 5 minute ride we pulled up at the sea plane terminal. Here yet again a charming man greeted us and showed us to the Soneva lounge. We were given cold towels, a choice of beverage and very large relaxing seats. This was the start of the "wow"!

To get to Soneva via a short sea plane flight and speed boat ride - more cold towels and refreshing drinks - we relinquished our shoes to Nafa (our Ms Friday) in line with the "no news, no shoes" philosophy. Most pictures of resorts are taken at the best possible time, from the best angle and in the best weather. Then when you get there it's a bit of a downer. Not so Soneva Fushi! Believe the pictures, they are for real. The resort really looks that good, in fact even better.

Our wow continued when we were met at the jetty by Anthony, Saeed and other members of the team. This is what Soneva Fushi is like, nothing too much trouble to make you special. From then on things only got better and better. We really got immersed into the SLOWLIFE and it was a joy to do nothing but relax, ride our bi/tri-cycles, enjoy excellent cuisine and soak up the atmosphere.

We were on the sunset side and yes, could see Eydhafushi. But that was fine; better than a concrete block hotel 5 feet from your hotel window. We could go on much more about this excellent resort, the friendliness of the staff, our outstandingly efficient immediate team (Nafa, Didi, Fassy, Ali, Jila, Imran), the most wonderful food (thanks to Chef Ravi, Chef Ranadewa and all the other chefs), the soft (and not too hot) coral sand, our villa and pool, etc., etc. But having given you a taster, go experience Soneva Fushi for yourself. The rustic charm belies the sophistication. You will not, can not be disappointed.

This was our first Maldivian experience; we won't be staying at any other Maldives resort after this. Thank you Team Soneva Fushi, we can't wait to get back to Paradise!

Room Tip: Can't imagine any villa will not be acceptable. The sunset side does have views of Eydhafushi, but it really is not a problem.

This was our first time at Soneva fushi and it was a beautiful retreat. The place has won our heart over and we did have a heavy heart when we left. The fond memories of lazing on the hammock and listening to the birds chirp and crashing of the waves outside our villas will tempt us to go back again.

Points I loved
- Total hideout. The resort might be full but you will not see a soul should you want the privacy. The villas being spread out really gives you an essence of total seclusion which is bliss.

- Mr Friday butler service. They really have taken the service level very high and each staff is so friendly. The personalised service will remain the highlight of the trip.

- The 24 hrs chocolate and ice cream room. Yes walk in when you feel like and indulge in the top quality desserts and ice creams.

- Barefoot. This is a place which makes you think about your existence and makes you want to give back a lot more to our mother earth. This would be one of the most eco friendly resort on the island. The jungle setting really makes it an interesting stay.

This is a place which grows on you and we will definitely visit it soon again. Thank you Soneva for giving us the time of our lives.

This is by far the best island resort that I have seen in Maldives. Its location is absolute heaven. Service, accommodation and food definately make this resort a 7 star. Everything has been considered on this island from accommodation to food with luxury as the number one priority.
From the observatory to the restaurants everything is of high quality, whilst fun. The cinema, beaches, seating and the chilled chocolate room absolutely nothing has been forgotten.

Whilst trips snorkelling etc is expensive, it is the best transport, staff and safety that accompanies it. Chefs and wait staff are magnificent.
Food is out of this world with little extras sent to the table from the chef, and ensure you eat on the beach at night to see the moon rise.
If you can afford this location and resort this is the place to be.

Room Tip: All are spectacular
