Some of our family retired and moved to the Jackson area. On some special occasions, the house gets filled to overflowing, so we have stayed at the Holiday inn Express many nights. So often, in fact, that Ken at the front desk started to recognize us as we walked in. So it is about time to write a review!

HI Express properties are part of the Intercontinental Hotel Group, where my company books most of my travel. It is always a pleasure to visit Jackson. It is a new property. Always clean. The free breakfast has something for everyone, in a nice setting (on the sofa or easy chair in front of the TV if you want).

Every staff member I have met has been truly friendly and helpful. If anything ever was amiss, it was taken care of. And they are a wealth of knowledge about the area, too. The service just feels as good or better than higher priced properties.

Going to a concert at Jackson Rancheria and their hotel was booked. So I read reviews on trip advisor about the Holiday Inn Express and booked it. Glad we did. It was perfect just minutes from downtown and short distance to the casino.
The young man at the front desk was very nice and we were able to check in by 2pm. Lots of free parking a nice perk A large.grocery store across the street for getting snacks for your microwave and fridge.
We had a clean spacious king room on the first floor(away from the hwy). That night was so quiet we didn't hear a thing. The king bed was large and comfy, shower pressure was out of this world. Next morning had a nice free breakfast. Usual fare, eggs, sausage, bagels, toast, cereal, yogurt, coffee and tea, juices.Nice selection.Breakfast room was also clean and comfy. Would stay here again when in town. Great trip!

Room Tip: Get a room away from hwy.

Its hard to not like a hotel which greets you with a welcome snack bag, helps you find a movie to watch next door and as my daughter points out -- has a pancake machine in the breakfast bar. Exceedingly clean. Room was on the quiet side (away from Highway 49)

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the highway; there is a movie theater right next door -- walking distance

We didn't actually get to stay here, but I had booked a reservation online, then drove to the hotel to check in. When we arrived, the young man behind the desk, his name was Kendrick, told us with great sincerity how sorry that he was, but their online booking system had made an error, and allowed us to book when there wasn't a vacancy. By the time we arrived though, he had already called hotels in the area, checking for vacancies, and had booked us with a beautiful facility who only had suites left..the Jackson Rancheria Hotel and Casino. They told Kendrick they would give us a 2 room suite for the same price as the room we had booked at the Holiday Inn. Oh my gosh, what a delight. They even gave us $5 off coupons for their sumptuous buffet. Kendrick went out of his way to do a good deed for people he had never even laid eyes on. What an employee and what a great person!! Megan at Jackson Rancheria was gracious to invite us to stay with them at that great rate!! Another great employee and person! Much thanks....you made the first night of our 40th anniversary trip very memorable.

Pros= Very clean and well maintained. Comfortable beds, tiled bathroom with granite countertops, Flat screen TV. Breakfast was very good- lots of choices, fresh and well stocked. Reasonably priced with AAA or AARP.

Cons= No swimming pool and thin walls.

I would have to think that the previous reviewer Peachy_Keen45 must have mixed up the HIE with the other chain hotel in Jackson. We have stayed at HIE six times in the last year and a half, one time for 29 days, never once saw what the reviewer found.

We always found the rooms to be spotlessly clean, wi-fi working well, comfy beds and pillows, and immaculate bathrooms, fridge and microwave. Staff always helpful, especially Stephanie and Claudia at the front desk.

The only beef I have with HIE is the breakfast. Greasy, paper-thin bacon, microwaved scrambled eggs, omelets filled with Cheez -Whiz type filling, sausage gravy, and the aforementioned cinnamon buns. Luckily there are two decent restaurants within walking distance that have a great variety of dishes for breakfast.
