The property is fine with great views of the ocean from afar provided there is no fog. The bathroom lacked space other than drawers as to put out your things and the bathtub/shower appeared new, but the sides of the tub are so high you need help getting in and out of it especially if you have any physical aliments !!! The rooms should be inspected before check in if they haven't been used in awhile ours was ok clean but dusty !! Smelled of a room shut up for awhile and stale smoke from the fireplace !1 My biggest complaint is with the Owners or Managers either the owners are inexperienced and rude and the Managers just throw the Owners under the bus or visa versa ~~~ We rented out and secured the Lodge for 2 days and they would not let each room guest call with their own Charge cards everything had to be done thru me !!! grrr they told me a month before the date to have a certain amount in my account and I DID they never charged my account until after we got home from the Wedding and the day before the Wedding I got a call from the Bride saying that they would not give out keys until the last huge deposit I had made into my account was cleared (as you know the bank always places holds on 2 party checks) This was a NIGHTMARE !! and unheard of ??? And planning a destination wedding itself stressful enough !!! All in all though the wedding and reception was beautiful !!! Just glad this is behind us !!!

Room Tip: I feel all the rooms were fine, as we rented out the entire Lodge for my daughters wedding for 2 da...

Thank you very much for your review. We take all of our reviews seriously. I would like to offer that many of our rooms have wood burning fireplaces and some people are sensitive to wood smoke. Additionally, our housekeeping department inspects all rooms prior to guest arrival, and we are sorry to learn, after you checked out, that your room wasn't to your satisfaction.

We were very happy to host your daughter and son in law's wedding, and thank him for his wonderful review of our facility and staff. We do not intend to cause any added stress to any of our guests at any time. When your son in law reserved his wedding at our lodge, many details were discussed. A group reservation was created and his/your guests were able to call and secure their room, which more than half did. I still am not clear as how our lodge was responsible for your bank's actions. Please accept our apologies and we hope to have you as our guest in the future.

My wife and I just got married at Fort Ross Lodge on Sept. 7th 2013. It was probably the nicest day of the year that day and everything was just beautiful and perfect in my opinion :) We had stayed at the lodge earlier in the year and we both just knew it was the place for us. Sheila and Tom (the manager's) told us that we could have our wedding there as long as we sold out the lodge for the event ( easy to do because we both have large families and a lot of friends) We were able to pretty much set it up and do what ever we wanted. We had it catered by Garden Grill out of Guerneville, rented tables and chairs, and brought a d.j. and partied from 2p.m. until 11p.m. Hotels a few miles up complained... oops :/ We didn't need very many decorations due to how beautiful the location is and the lodge itself is kept up very beautifully. The maids worked their butts off and did a great job as well as the maintenance employees. We can't thank Sheila and Tom enough for all of their hard work and accommodations. Our wedding was the first one there that I am aware of and they handled it great! Very clean rooms and amazing views from the bridal sweet on "the hill".

Room Tip: all room locations are great but the best is room 17, or the bridal suite!

If you are ever planning a trip up the California coast, maybe on your way to the Redwoods as we were, and doing some stopping along the way to see lighthouses or sample some wine... this is a great place to 'end up'. What a "nice" place! Beautiful grounds and accommodations. The rooms are so cozy, with a wood burning stove and little patio that has a grill so you can have a cookout and enjoy the beautiful view of the ocean while getting a chance to catch a glimpse of some wildlife as well. The flowers on the property are exquisite and there is a Jacuzzi and sauna there that we took advantage of. It was super refreshing after a long day of travel. The price is very reasonable for such nice accommodations...we would highly recommend it to anyone passing through!

Room Tip: I believe all of the rooms are going to be "good" ones...

The Fort Ross Lodge offers truly nice rooms with king-sized beds, new bathrooms, wide-screen HDTV's, and more. Although there are no phones and no cell-phone service for 10 miles in either direction, this lodge offers plenty of peace and tranquility in comfort.

A great base for exploring the area, this motel has some nice amenities. The rooms are clean, some have their own hot tubs or use the common area one, fireplaces, ocean views, fridge, BBQ's w/charcoal and even a corkscrew if you need it. Lots of things to see nearby like Ft. Ross, Gualala Point Reserve and beautiful wild beaches. Gualala has a couple of nice markets and the only laundry in the area is Anchor Bay.

We took the advice of other tripadvisor travelers and were not disappointed. Our room was very quiet, clean and cozy. Just right for a couple trying to get away for a few days. WHAT a view and what wonderful trails right behind our sliding glass door! Easy, friendly late check-in. We couldn't have had a better experience. I can't say enough good things about how welcome we felt here and how very, very private it felt to us. We b-b-qued and sat in our private hot-tub each night and didn't see or hear another soul. The deer were 20 feet away and the sky was magnificent. We will definitely be going back to this place again and again -- probably with our children and maybe even our grandchildren in tow. We fished off of nearby cliffs and caught dinner. The next day we explored splendid tidepools just up the coast about seven miles -- we had to get up early that day to catch low tide but well worth it! Bring groceries and kitchen supplies with you to save $$. The larger room we had was wonderful and great for meals "in".

Room Tip: Spring for a bigger room so you have more room to dine in.

I was immediately impressed by this oasis. Upon arrival we were greated by Tom and Sheila who are so warm and welcoming. They even had fresh baked chocolate chip cookies! We were shown to our room which had vaulted ceilings, an extra deep bathtub and a fireplace complete with wood and a firestarter stick (for the arsenally challenged). The bed was comfortable and the view is amazing. If you want to barbeque, there are small ones on the patio or be social and use the big grill in the common area by the hot tub and sun room! I even saw father and son having a game of catch in the lawn! We were able to take a short walk to a beach nearby an relax in the sunshine while enjoying the surf! A deffinate must see! Ill be back, for sure!
