Reviewed 12 September 2013

I have stayed in the g.b.t. hotel 3 times now and the next time I return, it will be the 4th. are very close to the main beach, run a better the average small hotel restaurant and is one of the least expensive of that classification of hotels. Their staff has always been very respectful and friendly during each of my stays. This budget minded hotel is worth staying in.

Room Tip: if you want air/con and or a fan, reserve it. I like that type of room as mine have always faced th...

Basically this place is one of 4 GBT guest houses the owner has around Sihanoukville.
A previous reviewer suggested bulldozing the place.....my sentiments exactly.
Unsuspecting tourists without accomodation booked are collected by TukTuk drivers from the bus stop and bought to one of the 4 GBT places. If one is not suitable they are taken to the next one. My driver admitted he got kickbacks from the management of these guesthouses.
Positives, This GBT has a great location 100 metres from the beach. Wifi was fair.
Negatives everything....from the cockroach invested rooms, smells from the bathroom due to poor drainage, lack of security, bed bugs in the mattress of my room....think of the worst hotel/guesthouseyou have stayed at and this place will be a new contender for the title.
With the kickbacks to the tuk tuk drivers the owner/s are making an absolute fortune here. I do not mind if people make decent money from the product they are selling but the product has to be half reasonable. This fails that criteria.
There are at least a dozen guest houses within 150 metres. If you are dropped off here, check out the room then check out one of the other nearby guesthouses or hotels for very similar money....around $15....then make up your own mind.

Room Tip: Just avoid this place, check out nearby options.

We stayed here for 17 days and it was a good choice.
In 30 seconds you're on Serendipity Beach and it's close to lots of restaurants and bars!
We had a nice, big room and it was always clean.
I'd definitely stay here again! :-)

At first we enjoyed this hotel. The staff are all attentive, and there are a lot of them. But as previously stated a bit robotic. The rooms are a good size, and fairly reasonably priced. It all started going down hill on about the 3rd day though. There are no hot showers here because it is really hot and you are by the beach. But my friend wanted some hot water, the hotel tried to charge her for two CUP fulls of hot water! It was to wash her face with! We were shocked and had some words with the management who finally decided she shouldn't have to pay. We had laundry done and it came back damp the night before we had to leave even though they'd had it for 2 days. And then as we were checking out one of the boys rushed out and accused us of stealing a comb! Yes a comb! And said we had to pay for it! We were really annoyed by this point. He accused my brother who doesnt even have any hair, and even if he did he wouldnt have used the comb... terrible business. Would definitely not return here. I know there are 4 GBTs in Sihanoukville, I don't know what the others are like, but hopefully better than this one!

Pros- $15 night for two bed fan room right near the beach. Good location, clean-ish rooms, has a tv and plenty of room to store bags.

Cons - bathroom has only cold water and a big drainage issue, ground floor rooms either look into restaurant or into an alleyway and smell like mould.

Clean, (some) friendly staff (others were preoccupied with their mobile phones & don't acknowledge you, namely the main guy at reception; apart from not listening to you he interrupted frequently when his earpiece went off), food alright, although we only had breakfast; very reasonably priced.
Rooms are clean, with fans and bathroom, $8, which we were pleased with (after our nightmare stay at the Big Easy guesthouse).
All staff here have earpieces, earpieces which make it very efficient, but also rather robotic in terms of interaction. Too many staff, most of them just standing around watching the tv screens (which play awful music). The shop is big, overpriced. Most things available at supermarket for about 1/3 less.
Not brilliant, but ok if you're only stopping for a night.
This review is for the GBT4, right down Mithona Street.

Room Tip: We only saw the $8 rooms, very satisfactory.
