“Don't expect to much”
Reviewed 28 February 2014

Clean, but little run down. Paint chipping of the walls in the room. If the carpet in the rooms look like the one in the staircase, choose the rooms with tiles.
Rooms itself clean, large comfy bed, towels are offwhite to be polite. Some of them smell like cheese, ask for new ones at reception.
Service is always friendly , just limited by their English language skills.
Internet connection little shaky every few days.
Choose room to the back, out front is the main road and you will see the sea only from forth oder fifth floor anyways.
Breakfast on the deck on 5th floor gives you a nice breeze in the morning and a nice view over the town and sea.
Don't expect great service there, slow and language skills even worse.
Hotel is centrally located , 100m from the Beach Road, the main strip for backpacker.
I stayed here 4 weeks for business, but it's also good if you want a break from a dorm room.
31$ / night / Single room.
Before staying at some overpriced ressort with overpriced drinks and restaurants, it's a good option to an resort with a pool. Spend the money on a tuk tuk and head out to OtresBeach and rather spend the bucks on the Beach road in one of the many restaurants and bars.
The Casino draws a lot of rich Khmer people on the weekend and also the occassional hooker will approach you.

This casino hotel is a bit old, price is higher then the budget hotels near the beach but they have nice buffet breakfast.

If you already plan to gamble about USD500, you can change cash for rolling chips and get a free room (if there are rooms available)

Room Tip: No swimming pool & fitness centre.

Khmer people like to just sit at the table and eat and talk, and place bets on other peoples bets. The casino is kind of run down, the free buffet is small but gets a lot of use. Drinks are free too. The dealers were young men and they made a few mistakes, but there are at least 2 together and they make corrections. The minimum for blackjack is only $2, so your money can last a long time. They do allow smoking. Some of the ladies are hookers, but very subtle. I had 2 fun evenings there and only lost $10.

have stayed here twice in 2 years. the first time was better as the hotel was practically new. A year
later, a/c unit was noisy, the room service menu had many items they no longer prepared, and the breakfast was quite a bit worse, but improved on the weekend, which is apparently when the gamblers show up.

On the recommendation of friends, I did not stay at the hotel, I did however, frequent the casino occasionally - where I found the croupiers (especially on the roulette table) to have a serious attitude problem - could I suggest an enrolment at a charm school!
On my last visit there, I had the good fortune to win $360, the look on the aforementioned employee's faces was one of unmistakable resentfullness. I have witnessed such ocassions when punters have enjoyed less good fortune and the look of smugness on their faces is all too apparent.
I would like to take this opportunity in thanking these employees as their reaction upon me winning made me immediately cash in my chips, where I enjoyed a thoroughly good night out at several venues where my custom was appreciated.
Tip to all employees!!!
1. Remember all punters are your bread and butter
Free beer is provided here, albeit begrudgingly (unless losing big time!).
Good luck to all future punters, enjoy the reaction upon your fortune!

Fortuna Hotel is a good hotel, BUT it is showing signs of neglect. I base this on my previous stays there in April and August 2009. At that time it was really awesome with an overall look of being new and bright. We enjoyed a rooftop restaurant with a very reasonable breakfast buffet and wonderful view.
This time the signs of neglect were everywhere from the bathroom (stained caulking on the tub) to the main room (dirty walls and a bit dirty feel) and the AC unit made a nasty noise and required a call to maintenance staff. It’s a shame because it seems that the room needs minimal attention to bring it back up to par. Mostly it needs a fresh coat of paint, a good cleaning and a little maintenance. My feeling is that the owners are coasting and trying to suck all the money they can without much, if any, investment on upkeep. Funny how a hotel can feel so neglected after only 3-4 years of being open; note I never once stepped inside the casino, maybe that is really nice.
Pros: nice location with good view, 10 minute walk to the beach, huge rooms with at least 12 foot ceilings, nicely appointed bathroom, in-room safety box, decent food at the restaurant (I enjoyed the Cambodian Chicken Curry with Baguette – somlah carrie Khmer sak moine), very friendly staff, quiet.
Cons: neglected look and feel, rooms need a maintenance, cleaning and a fresh coat of paint.
Bottom line: This is not considered a cheap stay in Sihanoukville (no it’s not $$$$$ luxury either) but for the money, one can do better until they spend a little effort on maintenance.
