“Vivi did it......”
Reviewed 19 February 2012

We ended up in this hotel, after prebooking at Coolabah hotel (same ownwers). Whwn we arrived at that hotel we got a room that had a very bad smell. So they asked us if it was ok to change it to Victory Beach.
As soon as we arrived, a big smile met us which belonged to the hotel manager Vivi. She really maked our stay, very serviceminded and helpfull. Nothing was a problem......
There was some renovation going on, and the private beach was gone after the rainyseason, but a 3-4 min. walk there was a great beach with bars. (will recommand Browns).
Food was good at the hotel, but there was a little languageproblems with the staff. We stayed for 2 weeks, and not once we actually got what we ordred for breakfast!!!! (This was not a problem for the dinners we ate)
Overall : We would not stayed for 2 weeks if Vivi didn`t work there, so hopefully the owners know to appreciate her....

Room Tip: ask for room with balcony

When we stayed at the start of February, there was some building work going on downstairs. the location is great if all you want to do is relax by the beach. The beach next to the hotel is very small and sometimes non-existent at high tide, but 200m along to the left there is a larger part of the beach which has a very friendly english bar called Browns - great value food and drink and sun loungers, with easy access to the sea.

Next to the beach there are sun-loungers and the hotel restaurant, with great views towards the island and sunset.

Once all the renovations have been completed and the beach area has been updated, i would highly recommend this hotel. The staff - Vivi and the other management staff were all extremely helpful and attentive.

My only gripes are
breakfast is not included in the standard rate ( everywhere else in Cambodia its been included)

the location of the hotel is far from all the downtown restaurants and you will need to take a tuktuk for $4 each way to get into town.

the hotel is not new, but is being refurbished, and so there are areas in the rooms which may need attention.

Our stay at the Victory Beach Hotel was an absolute delight! From the moment we arrived (and our lovely chat with the receptionist, Vivi), we felt relaxed and very well taken care of. Our room was clean and spacious and we had a view of the beach, although was very small and not somewhere I would swim as there is a lot of rubbish in the water further down. The plus side is that it is a lot quieter than in the Serendipity Beach area and no young tourists partying all night. The staff were all really friendly but again, it was Vivi who shined. She arranged our bus tickets back to Phnom Penh, called tuk-tuks, arranged for us to get picked up to go on our booked tours, made sure our dietary requirements were catered for, and even let us use her personal laptop when ours died. Not only that but the restaurant was SUPERB. The dishes were very upmarket and cheap - the seafood is amazing. Well done you guys - will be back when the renovations have been completed!

Apart from the location and the friendly staff we where very dissapointed with this hotel
It was just not finished, the bedrooms was possibly the worst we have encountered in years, no bed side lights (had to get out of bed to turn off lights) no hot water apart from that from electric shower which was difficult to turn off, in fact no water at all from the hot tap, a bath would have been nice but not only no hot water, no plug for the bath, we was told there where no plugs in the hotel! Tv did not work problems with the arial and the pillows were rock hard. Bath was grubby and stained
Our complaints where noted and some adjustment to the final account to reflect this was made and appreciated.
When its finished we are sure it will be ok but that could take months

Room Tip: for now chose another hotel

Victory Beach is one of the quieter areas of Sihanoukville. The hotel is right on the water with a small beach of its own. Ignore the casino that takes up most of the rear.
Amazing receptionist ViVi who should be in running for Receptionist of the Year. Incredibly helpful - and great fun. Aided and obstructed by Tim running the food and drink side and Fay with the broken arm.
Good food, very reasonably priced drinks.
Hotel only been open two months - everything will bed down. And hopefully they will get a bell boy so you don't have to carry your own bags to the second floor.

We ended up in this hotel just to be sure to have accommodation in Sihanuoukville. We booked (and paid) 2 nights through Agoda and after first night (when we did more research on options in Sihanoukville), we decided to leave. Reception arranged cancellation without any problem and Agoda also did full refund for second day. So thumbs up for that! Lady at the Reception (Manager?) is actually the best “thing” of this hotel! You don’t meet so welcoming and efficient person every day. Location on Victoria Beach is a bit remote (quite a ride to downtown SV) and beach is also nothing really special (that’s why we moved more south after one night). We had two rooms and one of them smelled of damp really bad. Near the bed there are no reading lights nor night tables. WiFi signal was available everywhere, but we were only able to connect in the lobby and restaurant.

Very nice place to stay whith the fantastic sea view from the suite rooms. Still required some extra works for the renovation but considering the attractive price and very friendly management is one of the best place to stay in Sihanoukville. It was may third trip to Sihanoulville and thanks to the Victory beach hotel one of the best. Food is perfect and the view is really amazing. I strictly recommend to book suite room and to enjoy for the warm atmosphere of the hotel. Many thanks to Vivi, I am sure that thanks to her efforts the hotel will become one of the most popular 5 stars hotel in the nearest future and the rates will definitely go up. Catch the time, book it now!
