“Definitely worth it!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 January 2014

This is a late review - we stayed here in November 2013 on a whim, after reading only a handful of available reviews on Tripadvisor. My partner and I thought we'd give it a go. And boy were we glad we did! While it took our driver a little longer to find it, that's only on account of it being so new. We stayed 4 nights and loved it. From the start to the end of our stay staff were friendly and welcoming. The owner was also present and made himself available to us. The room was large and very comfortable, it overlooked the court yard but staff were always very respectful of our privacy. Fantastic breakfast every morning.
The two puppies Algie and Albert are wonderful to have around. The area is a 5min walk to the centre of town (to cafes like Starfish bakery) and a 15min walk to Serendipity beach or a 5min tuk tuk, which staff always happily arranged for us and we never had any problem with.
As mentioned previously in a review there are a lot of stray dogs in the area, we walked around at night but only towards the centre of town and we were fine. It is very evident that the area it's in will soon become a very popular touristy/residential area due to lots of construction and the stray dogs will decline in numbers. The bathroom also did have a bad sewerage smell at times.
Apart from that it is a wonderful place to stay and I would highly recommend it to anyone!

My wife and I enjoyed a very comfortable, convenient, and well appointed stay at the small and recently opened Le d'Artagnan hotel in Sihanoukville. This 9-room boutique hotel has been built in what was originally a private residence, and subsequently converted to what is essentially a B&B. This is among the most impeccably clean lodgings you can find in Cambodia, short of a chain or casino at five times the price, and this is remarkable noting the location and age (open only since Aug 2013). This hotel is off the beaten paths of Sihanoukville, therefore many tuk tuk drivers to not know where it is, and you'll have to prepare your instructions ahead of time unless you are willing to risk a ride around town. Regardless, it is easily within walking distance of the 2 golden lions traffic circle (and the nearby restaurants and night markets) as well as the downtown district. Their terrace is clean and well tended and is a very cozy place to have a sunny breakfast, which by the way was delicious and nicely prepared in the Parisian tradition of omelette, croissant, fruit, and coffee. The staff is friendly and helpful, and were willing to help us find our way in Sihanoukville, going out of their way to help us rent bikes. recommend dining, beaches, and entertainment. Highly recommended. Do not stay in the casinos or you will miss the personal touches, privacy, and pampering that comes with this gem. Congratulations to owners Cindy and Vichet on your successful venture and good luck to you in all that you do!

If you like being in the middle of nowhere but within downtown Sihanoukville, then yes go to D Artagnan.
I normally am very good at booking places but this was a mistake, mislead by the previous write up.
Ok, I am not condemning the hotel itself but it's location!!!
We asked the hotel if they could send a tuk tuk as to ease the search at night. Gave our arrival info but unfortunately we were not picked up so found our own tuk tuk. But it took a good 40 minutes to find the place, finally we got there, recognised the name, just in the dark street.
The gate opened, we're let in, and the welcome talked about in previous reviews was nowhere to be received. We really didn't not feel the warmth. Find the people working there not professional, whispering laughing...

Our room was on top of the beautiful marble staircase. Large, decor is nice but not to my taste, a wet room/ shower and the necessary things needed...
It had a balcony that overlooked the courtyard and street.
As we arrived around 8 and hadn't eaten we thought we d go out so we asked the person in charge and suggested going left out of d Artagnan, we saw one lively place so thought we d have a light meal there. Mistake, a messy unwelcoming local place, sat down for 5 mins and left.
So we walked passed the hotel again in the dark took a right inside and just nothing but stray dogs!!! By now my husband was getting very annoyed so walked back up again, saw another lit up and lively place went in, looked very strange, full of local ladies "working" and serving and local men enjoying their company, sat down and asked for one beer, the girl with a number around her neck came back with 6!!!! We left 2$ on table and almost run off!!
What's that place about? Well your guess is as good as mine!
So we gave up and went back to our room. Appetite lost.
Straight away booked our next hotel where we happily stayed for 3 lovely nights!!

So, d Artagnan itself is ok, plus it has gorgeous little dogs that seemed well looked after so that was my highlights...but the LOCATION is unfortunately inadequate for tourists!!!

Would we go back? No way unless they provided nice food or a shuttle to restaurants etc.
Might be new, but still need to have something unique to attract people!!!

My partner and I stayed here for only one night. We stayed in the suite. The room is exquisite, very large and comfortable with a king size bed, lovely bathroom and balcony overlooking the courtyard. We were treated very well by the welcoming staff and I would have no hesitation in recommending it.

We stayed for 2 nights and really liked it. The staff and the owners are very nice and helpful. Thanks for the tips in Phnom Penh (Bar Sito is really a good spot)!

pros:
- nice and clean rooms
- nice garden
- small and cute
- close to authentic cambodian food
- Very nice hosts (french/cambodian owners, who know both cultures very well), very friendly and smiling local staff
- good basic breakfast/flexible Time
- Easy bus ticket arrangement and Motorcycle rental

cons:
- we had a bad smell in the bathroom coming up from the drainage after the rain
- away from the tourist and the beach area (which is good and bad)
- coming from Thailand we were not so happy with the beaches in sihanoukville, therefore we only stayed 2 nights, but still enjoyed driving around and having a swim

If you like to stay away from the bar scene and you are fine going with motorcycles, this is the place to be! Very recommendable!!!

On one of the internet Hotel booking sites, this hotel is rated at 3 stars. I only have one question: Why?

I understand that this has not been a hotel very long: a lot of the Tuk-Tuk drivers don't know where the hotel is (that alone tells you how new it is!) and while it's only a ten minute walk from the Serendipity Beach area and all the associated restaurants and night-life, I could understand people not wanting to walk the distance: Cambodia is not renowned for it's street lighting and the hotel is, unfortunately, on a back road down a dingy road or two - and that's a shame because if anything kills this hotel then it will be the location.

Where do you start because it really would be difficult to sing the hotel's praises high enough: With marble throughout the hotel, spacious rooms, attentive staff to whom nothing appears to be too much of a problem. Clean and beautifully appointed with – I'm sorry but I've run out of superlatives.

Two words: Absolutely Superb.

Room Tip: Any - they're all superb.

The hospitality and the amazing welcome that the owners and their staff showed us was simply grand! This is the place to stay in Sihanoukville.

We first booked for one night and ended up staying 4 nights, then went on a 3 day adventure to the island of Koh Rong Samloem to come back for another 3 nights after. Cindy and Vichet recommended restaurants and bars, brought us with them to the morning market and made us discover some Cambodian delicacies. Their hotel is centrally located, yet in a quiet surrounding. It is beautifully decorated and extremely clean. Cindy is also an amazing cook; we were really happy to share a succulent home cooked meal with them after having been traveling for 3 months - great meals, great wine selection and a beautiful outside terrace to enjoy it all! Thank you for your warm welcome, suggestions and friendliness.
