We stayed 3 nights in the hotel and quite disappointed cause of buffet breakfast and hotel facilities. In the bathroom, the quality of soap, shower gel and sampoo likes in 2-3 star hotel.
Same with Kralj2007, i dont think this is a 5 star hotel.

We spent 5 days in the hotel and unfortunately were desappointed. This hotel is not a 5 star hotel. Rooms are ok, facilities as well, but the service is really bad. I still can't understand how they can suggest a wine of which they have 1 bottle! Or, 45 min after u order a meal, the waiter asks u if u still want ur meal?!

5 nights here after 10 days doing the temples so needed some relaxation. I have nothing but positive comments to make. The concierge tracked down a charger for my camera and apologised that it took 2 hours!(he got a good tip). All the other staff were happy & helpful. Food very good, beach swept with a brush every morning.
The hotel offers a boat trip which is on the expensive side & the water visibility for snorkelling was awful.Suggest you check the visibility before doing it!
I would happily recommend the hotel

We were so excited to stay at Sokha Beach Resort! The pools and private beach are beautiful and wonderful for a rest but unfortunately a lack of maintenance to their rooms and sub-par staff ruined our Sokha experience. We booked a room in the new building, which is absolutely beautiful. Shortly after our arrival, we noticed our AC was not working. We called the front desk and someone came quickly to try to fix the AC. We left and went to the pool for the day. When we got back, we found that our room still could not cool down. We called the front desk again and they told us they'd look into getting us a new room. It seemed that we and maybe 4 other people were staying in the new wing so we thought this should be an easy switch. It took them about 40 minutes to get someone to come to our room to help us move two rooms down. We were thankful for a new room but the AC did not work in this room either. We sweat through the night and the next morning, after breakfast, we went to the front desk to discuss the problem. They were unapologetic and didn't seem concerned at all with the problem. They asked us to sit down and they'd look for a new room for us. After quite some time, they moved us into the old building. They double checked that the AC worked, we packed again, and moved to the old building. The room had a nice view and although it was now 12:00 and we had spent our whole morning handling this problem, we were satisfied.... until we realized the floor was covered in little white spiders. We called down to the front desk and they sent someone up to spray for us. Again, we went outside and enjoyed what was left of our day. When we came back inside we sat down on the bed and quickly realized that the bed was crawling with ants. We located an ant trail of hundreds of ants from next to the sliding door, along the wall, to the bed. At this point, it was about 6:00 PM, and we went downstairs to speak to a manager. We were told the manager was at dinner so we'd have to wait either in the hot lobby or in our ant infested room. We waited for an hour for the manager at which point he promised to handle this for us. He offered us a free drink while we waited which was a nice gesture. While having our drink, the manager approached us saying that housekeeping could not find the trail of ants, so we must be mistaken. We had to leave our drink to go upstairs to show him and housekeeping the hundreds of ants. We had dinner reservations for their seafood BBQ by the pool at 8 which needed to be canceled at this point. They finally found us another room which had two beds, instead of one, a working AC and we thought, no bugs. They provided us with no help as we once again packed our bags and moved to another room in the old building. Upon inspecting this room further we found that there were ants once again crawling all over another bed. Once again, we called down to the front office. It was now 9 PM and all restaurants were reaching their closing time. They offered to comp us dinner, but no drinks, while they tried to find yet another room for us. At this point, the manager was mildly apologetic but no one seemed to understand that we had spent the majority of our day moving from room to room, not enjoying ourselves. At about 10:30 PM we finally packed up again and moved to yet another room, back in the new building. This room had AC, no bugs, and was perfect. Our next two days there were very enjoyable. After some deliberation and a lot of conversation with several managers, they finally comped our one night since we spent one night not sleeping and the entire next day moving to 5 different rooms. We were pleased with the gesture but felt we shouldn't have had to try so hard to receive it. The breakfast is delicious and has so many options. The Deck restaurant has delicious food. Unfortunately, our experience at this seemingly wonderful resort was quite tainted with a, maybe fluke but disappointing experience.

Room Tip: Go for the new wing but make sure the AC works!

We stayed at Sokha at the end of our trip & it was very restful. The private beach is beautiful, and the swim up bar is awesome. The only thing is that the resort is very dated. Our bungalow was quite 70's and the pool needed a good clean to remove the algae from between the tiles. The breakfast is very good, but the meals in the other restaurants and at the beach bars were average. Especially considering the price that you pay. They also charge 15% on top of everything. Saying that the service staff are really great. There's a shuttle into town which is great, but be warned- if you try and get a tuk tuk out the front outside those times you will be completely ripped off. Great place but really needs an overhaul.

This was the final hotel on our tour of SE Asia and we chose the hotel because of its 5 star rating. Prior to arriving at the Sokha Beach Resort we had stayed in a total of 10 hotels throughout Thailand, Vietnam and of course Cambodia.

The hotel staff were all excellent and could not be faulted, the hotel food was also excellent and the reception area impressive, however that's were the wow factor stops. The rooms with there decent size and standard facilities were nothing out of the ordinary and would be acceptable for a "4 star". The showers had mould in the cubicle (not the cleaners fault, it was deep rooted within the grouting). On a positive note the they were cleaned daily and the towels changed as often as required and the beds were very comfortable.

The pool - despite being cleaned on a nightly basis had a layer of green mould on tiles at the water line. There were several large subsidence cracks, some several feet long and 1 inch wide around the edge of the pool, easily capable of causing a nasty cut to anyone standing on them.

The beach - lovely clean sand on the private part but be warned, if you fancy a walk to either end of the private beach you will be met with rubbish including, light bulbs, flip flops, bottles etc etc. You will also need to step down from the sand into the sea, there is a 24 inch drop. The beach, especially near the trees was infested with ants but the staff used ant killer on a daily basis to try and eliminate them.

Sihanoukville - the town itself has nothing really to offer and it isn't worth leaving the hotel for, there are a few cafes and local shops and that's about it.

All in all a very nice hotel and if you are near well worth the stay BUT if you are thinking about travelling a long way to get there I would think twice.

Did we enjoy it? yes! ... Was it a 5 star? No! ... Would we stay there again? probably not!

Room Tip: Most of the rooms on the Ocean wings are the same size but for a pool/sea view make sure you ask for...

Stayed at this hotel for 5 nights for easter holiday.
This is the best located hotel i Sihanoukville and has it's own nice beach and excellent swimming pools.
Rooms spacious with balcony and very clean. The problem are all the moskitos and ants they let in when the door are open for cleaning. Also lots og moskitos at the Deck restaurant in the evening. Food/drink are a little pricey but you can take a tuc tuc for 5-minutes into town for about $2.
We hire a mini bus ( 3-persons) from Phnom Phen city center to the hotel for 90$ and 100$ return to the airport, a comfortable trip that last about 3,5 hour.

We also hired a private speed boat with driver from the hotel for 300$ for a whole day to visit the beautiful Islands south of Sihanoukville.

Will be back next year.
